After so many years of producing cameras that capture video, Sony should have nearly foolproof algorithms for automating white balance for indoor video capture. Unfortunately, the AWB on the A6600 camera is quite bad, resulting in gloomy greenish video in spaces where an iPhone Pro Max correctly captures colors and scene lighting at the same time. Sony and other camera makers should at least match an iPhone for indoor shooting. Whenever their cameras fail that benchmark, they are failing customers like me with production and editing time constraints. With Sony's AWB such a miserable failure, they should at least have made fiddling with white balance manually much easier with dedicated camera body buttons and top-level camera screen menu. By now, remote control of Sony cameras should also be as easy as remote control over video capture apps running on iPhones with just as many remotely controllable functions. But sadly, remote Sony camera control is also terrible, and falls far, far short of what can be done with mere iPhones and iPad Pros. Please Sony, get a clue. ... More

I've owned the Sony a6300 for several years, which I'm keeping for my kids use. I'm a casual consumer though avid photographer. The a6600 has superior color rendition, focusing speed, focusing accuracy (including eye recognition in people and animals that really works), at least double the battery life, and superior build. The grip is also better. I really like this camera. I do miss the convenience of the pop-up flash. B&H has been great to deal with.

I'll admit I was kind of skeptical moving towards a Sony Mirrorless camera but wow, this is a fantastic device. It feels solid and the controls are much more intuitive than my old Nikon, in my opinion at least. Photo quality is great. I tend to shoot a little more gloomy and this camera excels at it. I'm shooting with a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 and a Sony 55-210. Attached are a couple of photos from both lenses. I think I'm onboard this Sony Alpha train at this point!

With 30 years experience in photography, from film to digital, I've been thrilled with my Nikon full-frame bodies and lenses. (D4s and D810 with 2.8 or faster glass) With that said, I've been in search of a lightweight option and B camera for work and fun. This A6600 meets the bill for portability, quality, and the video capabilities blow my Nikon out of the water especially with the eye focus for both stills and real-time for video. Love it!

This is a great looking and great feeling camera. The amount customization is astounding and fully makes up for not having a 3rd dial on top or in front. The viewfinder is extremely clear. Other cameras may have more resolution but this has more than is needed for a viewfinder in my opinion. Weather resistance and in body stabilization are also very nice. But the real top features are the battery life and the focus system. Regardless of the camera few cameras can compare. The only real negative for me is the sd card speed. Sony if you came out with the same camera tomorrow that supports faster faster cards I'd sell this and buy it in a heart beat. ... More

The a6600 is a welcome improvement on an already amazing camera - the a6500. A much better bigger battery - much more battery life - a bigger even more comfortable grip and the now much more versatile screen - and the continued best auto focus system makes this camera with its compact size not only much more convenient than the big top of the line full frame mirror reflex cameras, but just as good in almost every sense.

I bought the a6600 mostly for travel and backpacking. I like the bigger battery, great autofocus and no recording limit. I'm using it with the Sony 70-350 4.5-6.3 G which is a very light telephoto that covers 100 to 500 mm range on the cropped sensor 6600. I also use it with Sony's 18-105 F4 power zoom for video. Makes for a good travel package. No criticisms other than rolling shutter and no 60fps 4K. I could wait for the a7000 but I preordered the A7S iii instead.

Filming wedding videos I was previously using the a6500 as my main camera. I love many things about it but the battery life, lack of a headphone jack, limited recording time, and dim screen made the overall experience more stressful. Sony has done a fantastic job fixing all of these issues to where I can film an event and enjoy every second of it. No more little annoyances getting in the way of enjoying what you do. All around great tool to work with!

Got this as a second camera to my A7III. Love that it's a little smaller form factor and all my Sony glass works on it and give me some focal length options since is APS-C. Not quiet as good in low light as my A7III. User interface is fairly similar to A7III but wish is was a little more similar. This camera is the size, when matched up with a little wide prime lense, that I'll be more apt to have with me most of the time.

Aside from the rolling shutter, this has almost everything I could want in a B-cam to my a7r3. The crop sensor is even nice because i can use this for closeups or mediums and the full frame a7r3 for wides. The colors in this camera are great, the footage looks like it should come from a bigger camera. The IBIS is nice too, and 24MP ain't bad at all. I might even start traveling with this instead of my a7r3

This is the first camera I've bought to get into portrait photography and it's been amazing! I bought the body only since I bought the 50 mm / f1.8 lens and only wanted to use the fixed lens. With the lens, I've been able to take graduation and anniversary pictures with professional quality. The camera is very easy to use and there are so many wonderful tutorials online to help you if you have any questions. The body only comes with the body, camera strap, and USB cord for charging. I recommend buying a SanDisk memory card along with the camera! ... More

For me this camera proves to be both excellent to use in automatic and manual modes, for a photographer who always works with RAW files. The automatic features are very precise, providing balanced images ready for application in post-processing. The video capabilities are also very good, especially when capturing in log directly to an external drive. Here the autofocus works really well for difficult fast changing action. The accompanying case also is really convenient, with enough place for a spare camera and 4 extra lenses in a rugged non-camera looking bag really handy for travel. So, I highly recommend this for a serious photographer wanting to travel light! ... More

I'll be receiving my third a6600 in a row tomorrow. It's a dandy camera but wow, it's just one issue after another. The first camera had a sticking shutter button and the second camera produced a stuttering image when you tried to zoom in on photo previews. Fingers crossed that there won't be issues with the third camera, but it makes me feel unsure whether I can trust Sony cameras and that's a shame because I want to trust the camera I'm using. I'm hoping I can trust Sony but it makes me think that their quality control is slipping during the pandemic. ... More

I love love love this camera. The images you are able to get with it are incredible and the video quality is astonishing. the only gripe I have so far is the touch screen. Coming from Canon products, I am used to being able to use the touch capabilities for almost every function of the screen. With the Sony system, there is limited use(as far as I have found). THIS IS NOT A DEALBREAKER HOWEVER!!! This is still an incredible camera and it will just take some adjusting to get used to not using the screen.

I highly recommend the Sony a6600 to travel photographers or people who do not want to carry a lot of weight. I was between this and Fuji X S10 or T3. After surfing on the Internet and talking with experts photographer friends, I decided on Sony for two reasons: the quality of videos and the facility to find its lents. It is a light camera with beautiful images/colors. It fits perfectly for me: a middle-level women photographer who suffered hand pain because of the weight of her previous camera.

I have not had this long yet but have taken it out a couple times and I'm really loving it. I switched from a Canon SL3. The menus can be a lot to go through but watching a few YouTube videos and its not a big deal. I need to set my customs buttons which will speed some things up. I love all the lens selections available for this between Sony, Tamron, and Sigma. Eye detect is glorious and have an easier time nailing focus on people. I wanted something to make that easier since that isn't my typical photos but like to do it sometimes. ... More

If you have the A6300, have enough lenses to not make it worthwhile to do a full system switch, and don't mind the other quirks of Sony (like the ergonomics, which every professional review dings this on) then this is a great upgrade: Superior autofocus, battery life and video time (no more 30-minute limitations).

I've only been into photography for a few years seriously so I can't speak to the very tech side of photography as some other reviewers may have done but stepping up from a A6000 I can definitely see the difference. Even the feel of the camera is better. AF is super fast! Very little misses. The eye auto focus is real neat although I tend to shoot landscapes and more distanced action shots where eyes aren't what I'm focusing in on. The battery is so much better. I have yet to get into video so I'm of no help there but when I try, I feel like I have a quality platform to learn on with the 6600. ... More

I like the crispness of the image, AF features and the fact that the lenses are not big and ideal for travel. I also bought 2 prime Sigma lenses (16mm/F1.4 & 54mm/F1.4) and a Sony Zoom Lens (70-350mm/F4.5-6.5) for wildlife photography plus B+W UV filters. After doing lots of research I decided to stay away from Full frame cameras as size, weight and price (taking lenses into consideration) were more important for me than a slight increase in Dynamic Range/Low light performance.

I have not had this very long, but really enjoy using it. It takes very good photos, is easy to focus and to learn the menu although I don't yet know all the great things it can do. I took it on a recent vacation and all the photos turned out great, whether landscape, other people, group photos. It is a great size and weight for travel!
