Wow. Just wow. My husband and I had a Nikon D750 before this thinking it was what we needed. We were WRONG. Don't get me wrong, the Nikon was a fine camera, but did it have the capabilities that this CROP CENSORED camera has? No!! I am blown away. The auto focus on this thing is insane. The fact that you can set your camera to a setting so it does not take a picture until it is focused is insane. We are just blown away. We have the kit lens and the Sigma 56mm (BEAST!!!) and we are extremely pleased. We will complete the Sigma trio when we can afford it. Even with a lens and our cage on it, it is incredibly light. If you're looking for a good walk around camera for family time or events, this is your best bet. Sony has really exceeded our expectations. I record videos for my beauty business, and needless to say, I am now putting out some killer content. The 4k videos make you look like a freaking professional. I LOVE THIS CAMERA!!! ... More

I have had this camera for almost a month and have been very impressed with it. I use it for a lot of outdoor videography and photography. The camera has performed very well and has met or exceeded my expectations. At first I wasnt sure about the larger battery size and grip size but after using it and comparing it to my previous a6300, I am blown away by its battery life. I use to go through 3-4 batteries a day with my a6300 but with this a6600's larger battery I only go through about 1.5 batteries shooting 4k Video and RAW photos during a full day. Very impressed with this camera, another bonus is that it is compatible with the auto focus on my Sigma 160-500mm telephoto lens. The funky tri-fold LCD screen is cool but can be a little annoying to fold back into place but its not a big deal. The only improvement this camera could use is to have a side fold out LCD viewfinder. Hoping sony gets rid of this top folding LCD screen soon. It doesnt work if you have a shotgun mic on top of the camera. Overall a great lightweight, compact photo/video camera. ... More

Have had camera only couple weeks (camera just released) but the several thousand pics I have taken make me feel like a pro! The Eye AF & Tracking is so helpful in capturing clear, great photos. The editing in RAW is minimal compared with my previous 3 Sony APS-C cameras--pics just need a slight tweaking. One recent large-group indoor pic turned out much sharper with more even exposure compared to the same shot the previous 4 years (same 18-200 Sony lens). Editing that shot from the a6600 was a breeze! I love the feel of the camera with the new battery grip and enjoy the longer battery use with the Z battery. The extra buttons seem to have been programmed for my type of church event and family/school event shooting. I don't have to hunt the menus very often after initial setup. Looking forward to learning more about this a6600. ... More

I had been shooting with Fuji since 2016 (previous to that with Canon, like forever) but my motor skills just never fully adjusted to the retro Fuji style so wanted a change. I knew that I wanted to stay ASP-C so going back to Canon wasn't happening. I took a chance on the A6600 and I found that it works and I'm still surprised feels that it feels so natural to me. Even though I have big hands I really like its compactness and I really like the grip and it's tactile feel. Yes it would be nice to have a front dial but I quickly adjusted and have it setup for the way I like. One handed shooting is a breeze. A lot of people gripe about the menu system but for me there's no issue. I never did like Fuji's. It's really nice having all the third party lens offerings. I picked up the new Sigma 18-50 and the 30 f/1.4. As well the new Samyang 12 AF f/2.0. This kit is light, compact, easy to use and produces some great images. ... More

Can't really say enough about this little camera. It more than holds it's own against my A7R III and A7S II. The A6600 is packed with features that are found in the bigger bodies but at the fraction of the cost. The Autofocus is super fast to acquire moving subjects and it tracks people with precision. Pretty fast in continuous shooting mode as well as great low light performance make this a perfect camera.

This camera is a beast! The video is so good. I also have the a7III and use the a6600 for videos more often than the a7III, even the photo quality is awesome. It's more compact, has the same Z battery for longer time in between battery charges, the flip up screen, bigger grip and no video recording limit. It has the best of both worlds with the a7III features and the a6400, great combo! I do love the extra dials on the a7III and the full frame sensor but I use the a6600 the same if not more most times! With the full frame Sony 24mm f1.4 or the 55mm, it's BEAUTIFUL! ... More

Before buying this camera, I saw about 20 reviews on the internet, from many famous youtubers. Advantages, because all those that the reviews say are true, the focus is crazy, super precise, incredibly fast, it has all the color profiles you may need on video, the battery really lasts a long time, even so buy an additional, never me I finish both. Disadvantages, because few, or maybe I am not so demanding, I read that the stabilizer is not so good, in my case I have been able to take pictures at 1/5 speed without any problem, my previous camera had no stabilizer, for me it is impressive to be able taking a photo at that speed without a tripod, the Sony menus are unfriendly, but with a few days of use you get used to it, the fact of being able to customize the buttons is fantastic, you forget to have to search the menus, even there is a customizable menu, and there you can put the functions that you require the most, I would definitely buy it again. ... My daily driver is the Sony A7iii and this a6600 is the perfect companion. My wife uses this as a new photographer and its a great starter camera! The autofocus on this thing is just amazing! I shot a lot of fast moving objects (like my 2 year old on carnival rides), and my dog running and the Autofocus surprises me every time. This camera has the best autofocus on the market for sure. The upgraded battery was much needed and the grip now feel fantastic. I would even consider this model over the current a7iii and you would be very happy! ... More

I have absolutely no complaints when it comes to this camera. The body is a great size; large enough to comfortably hold (a smallrig cage helps), but small enough to not be a burden to bring around. The kit lens is decently sharp, with very fast auto-focus. The crop combined with this lens gives a decent field of view, as well as some reach. The IBIS is a nice feature to have, but (as you may have seen in other reviews) doesn't fix everything. Low light performance is astounding, with very little noise in even the darkest of situations. Throw this on a tripod, give it even the smallest bit of light, and you'll have amazingly sharp photos with deep, clear blacks and properly exposed highlights. If this camera is within your budget, and you can afford the extra toys you'll inevitably want to buy to fuel your photography addiction, go for it! ... More

I received my a6600 immediately after it was released and haven't regretted it. I am primarily a video producer (4K) who takes a large number of stills. This camera was chosen because of its ability to do 4K b-roll when doing multi-camera interviews, and use existing lenses from my two older a6000 cameras. Previous reviews knocked the camera for it's menu interface, but it was intuitive and very functional. The video quality is excellent and does a nice job of matching my higher level Canon 4K cameras. The only negative, since I'm a video guy, is the location of the video-record button. It is extremely inconvenient and really needs to be relocated. I really like the camera and consider it a great addition to the rest of my equipment. ... More

I'm extremely disappointed with the analog audio input for my new Sony A6600 camera. For cameras that don't support Sony's proprietary digital sound interface in the hot shoe, such as the A6400, A6500, and A6600, their clunky hot shoe interface is not worth the price. Rode and Sennheiser's wireless audio interfaces are a better option for all the cameras that have only analog audio input. The Sony audio interface could be worthwhile to get professional quality sound directly into their cameras that do support digital audio in the hot shoe connector. Sony has blown it again by failing to provide a more standardized USB-based approach to adding higher-end audio interfaces to their cameras. It's a sad situation when cheap external audio interfaces for iPhones provide better SNR than the mic interface that Sony builds into the cameras that cost vastly more than those phones. Since there are professional audio interfaces with fully digital hand-off to iPhones and Android phones through USB, it's reasonable to now expect the same effort from Sony, Canon, and other camera mfg's. Having to fix the audio every time in Adobe Premier is an outrageous overhead compared to the pure professional sound that's easily captured by iPhones and iPad Pros. Sony should be ashamed. ... More

When I read about the a6400, that was all I can think about. Then came the a6600! I am glad I waited. It might be the perfect camera for me. IBIS, and a Z battery? That's all I needed coming from an a7ii (yes, I went FF to APS-C, but with its focusing capabilities and the FPS advantage, for me this camera is light years ahead and a joy to use. Still using the a7ii, but not nearly as much anymore. Thanks B&H for quick and reliable shipping.

But they won me over when they offer the video features I had been lacking in my other cameras. 120 FPS with no crop, No record limit. Amazing Low light performance, and so on. There are not many cameras that can pull it off at this price range and this camera does it all!! I am not one to favor one camera brand over another, but as for video. (upgraded from NEX-7) I didn't realize how much I missed having an indication of where in the focus range you are win manual focus. The EVF is a big improvement. The dials are much better thought out. It has a much more comfortable heft in the hands. Especially with large lenses. It is far more more customizable. A nice size camera for travel. Lightweight and the kit lens is acceptably sharp. ISO can be pushed to 3200 without unmanageable noise. Easy to customize buttons and dial. I purchased an adapter for my Canon lenses and it works relatively well, but auto focus is a little unreliable. For photographing birds, I still go back to my Canon body. The two missing features are no built-in flash and no GPS. For GPS, you can link to an app on your phone to record location but the phone has to stay powered on. I've owned the Sony a6300 for several years, which I'm keeping for my kids use. I'm a casual consumer though avid photographer. The a6600 has superior color rendition, focusing speed, focusing accuracy (including eye recognition in people and animals that really works), at least double the battery life, and superior build. The grip is also better. I really like this camera. I do miss the convenience of the pop-up flash. B&H has been great to deal with.

After so many years of producing cameras that capture video, Sony should have nearly foolproof algorithms for automating white balance for indoor video capture. Unfortunately, the AWB on the A6600 camera is quite bad, resulting in gloomy greenish video in spaces where an iPhone Pro Max correctly captures colors and scene lighting at the same time. Sony and other camera makers should at least match an iPhone for indoor shooting. Whenever their cameras fail that benchmark, they are failing customers like me with production and editing time constraints. With Sony's AWB such a miserable failure, they should at least have made fiddling with white balance manually much easier with dedicated camera body buttons and top-level camera screen menu. By now, remote control of Sony cameras should also be as easy as remote control over video capture apps running on iPhones with just as many remotely controllable functions. But sadly, remote Sony camera control is also terrible, and falls far, far short of what can be done with mere iPhones and iPad Pros. Please Sony, get a clue. ... More
