First time use ever at my daughter's graduation shoot. Took it out of the shipping box used my camera's mount and and stating to use it right there and then. I adjusted the input volume and that was that, I had a clear and balanced audio from the Microphone. I have been using Sennheiser shotgun mics for the past 20 years and this one is an excellent option for video at a lower price range.

The Sennheiser MKE 600 is an excellent mic for mobile projects and ENG style work. Though it is not the same performance as the 416, it is still excellent in it's own right at 1/3 the price with quality sound. The rest of the kit works great, no issues here...the boom pole is solid, and all cords work fine. The included dead cat, and shockmount do the job. Well worth the price for the kit with the included discount savings.

Fantastic Mic. I took this into the sound room at B&H superstore and listened to it next to the MKH 416 and they sound so similar. The MKH 416 picks up a bit more in the highs but for the additional couple hundred dollars, i couldn't really tell the difference. Definitely recommend going to their superstore if you live in the greater NYC area so you can listen to them through your own ears.

I have to say that this mic has got to be one of the best if not the best values you will find in its price range for a shotgun microphone. I am currently using the mic for video recording and am tying the mic directly into my camera. I have found the audio to be of acceptable quality without having to connect it to an external recorder. The low cut filter also helps a great deal to minimize some of the unwanted noise if not recording in a studio.

Excellent microphone. Clear pickup, excellent noise floor. I have had issues with a higher sensitivity to RF interference when using this microphone, but with an RF filter in-line it is manageable and something that is more to blame on faulty building wiring than the microphone itself. The only issue I forsee is the XLR connection is a tad wobbly. I worry that it may be the first point of failure, but after a month of very hard use shooting a film for a local company it held up just fine.

I use this shot gun microphone when I am interviewing multiple people for short video projects, so I do not need to use Lavaliere mic . Watch the audio on your DSLR camera. I needed to turn it down a bit on manual audio setting. The microphone works great on my Canon 60D camera.

Sold my Rode NTG-3 after getting this - it sounds clearer and has less noise than the Rode! Great you can use a battery instead of phantom power too!

I needed a mic to make my unsophisticated recording locations sound as close to a professional studio as possible and this does the trick. It cuts out all the noise that I don't need and captures the voices I do need and makes them sound interesting and it does all of this for a VERY reasonable price.

If you're on the market for a cheap-ish shot mic for journalism, YouTube, or some smaller scale filmmaking, this is your best option. Just don't go cheaper than this, you will be sorry.

This mic seems to capture the sounds i want but it is so sensitive you can hear the humming noise if you do not know how to set up the mic properly. It is great for interview and light enough to shoot with just one person. what is also great it has phatom power just incase your battery runs out and don't have any extra

Very clear audio and cancels background audio very well, (but not totally). Nicely done. I use this MIC to record Action-sports and it does a great job of allowing enough ambient noise to pass through to set the environment however your subject is heard in clear detail. I was very impressed. Quality manufactured piece.

Bought this microphone 8 years ago and I've used it on every shoot since then with absolutely zero issues. The thing is an absolute tank and has proven it's worth in every possible environment. Bonus that it can also run on a AA battery in case you can't provide power to the mic. This is a piece of kit you'll have for 10+ years. Skip the $100 Rhode and buy something that'll last.

The MKE 600 is absolutely amazing, the sound quality, the build quality and performance exceeded my expectations. I haven't need in my studio to have a mic mounted above my subjects and this works absolutely perfectly. I'll definitely recommend it to a friend.

I've been using this mic in doc shooting, both run and gun and in controlled interviews. For such an inexpensive shotgun I'm impressed! The presence and richness of sound are great without being boomy on the low end. Definitely would recommend.

I intend to use this for on camera for my DSLR and on the boom pole flying overhead for interviews into an H4N as it has the ability to do phantom or battery power. I've had a chance to try it out on camera so far and it sounds pretty nice. No complaints or issues with it thus far and I've had good luck with sennheiser gear in the past, so I was really happy to see this was available.

The best performance I've seen from a microphone in a long time. Side rejection is really good. I was able to hear the footsteps of a runner from 40' away over some mild traffic. Wind rejection is also good but even better when paired with the optional windscreen sold here as well. Don't even bother with the shock mount that comes with it. Go ahead and purchase a proper one.

I think the connector is upside down. I bought this with a 90 cable thinking it would work great for my XA50, but the 90 connector points straight up in the air. I guess it still keeps the cable out of the way but I definitely didn't expect that. It doesn't matter when it comes to performance or anything, but you may want a straight XLR cable with this one.

If you're looking for quality sound without breaking $400, this is the microphone for you. It's crisp and cuts out room sound well enough. The bump in quality of better microphones comes at a cost of about an extra $800 and I personally don't think that is worth it. Great microphone that I highly recommend.

Paired with a digital audio recorder and the appropriate accessories, this thing is an excellent production microphone for student filmmakers and videogaphy professionals alike. When used properly, this thing captures beautiful dialogue and works great for basic foley sounds as well.

I've had many shotgun mics but, this one is the BEST bar-none! I am very impressed with the sound quality even using ghost mic power. I've used it on a boom for product videos and the quality was better than the lav mic. Only drawback was the mic is super sensative and picked up the HVAC cooling fan but, was easily removed with soundbooth.
