This mic works wonders with my zoom f4 but I have since upgraded my mixer and found this mic can have issues with the phantom power. I thought it was wind at first but the noise was always there. Putting in a battery and turning off the phantom power does slightly help.

There are very few mics, designed for this application which do so well at this price point. I hate saying for the price in a review, but let's face it, we have limits. I would always tend to spend much more on mics. With this, I didn't need to. It performs admirably, and stand up to mics costing 3 to 4 times as much. With a little care in setup, and a eye on clean editing in posts, it works well, and I can afford a matched pair instead of just one. Very helpful. ss

I bought this after the wire on my Rode VideoMic Pro got a short from a very small drop to the ground. The wire on the Rode is a fatal flaw of that mic. The MKE600 is just a little more money, and it is far superior and more versatile. The hotshoe camera mount (included) works great too, but get the rubber support if you want to use a boompole. The MKE600 is the best value for low budget film makers right now.

Great tonal quality in a short and lite package. Best I've used in the under four hundred dollar range. At home on cinema cameras, SLRs and booms. Also easy to carry around with a Zoom or SD field recorder to gather sounds. Pick up a fuzzy windscreen and balanced XLR cable and you can handle almost any situation. You really need to spend a grand to get anything appreciably better, though sound is still very close. You're largely paying for more durability, flexibility and noise rejection with those higher end Sennheisers.

I use this mic for a variety of things, weddings, corporate and my own personal projects. The mic works great, sound is great. The only (minor) issue is that the on/off button turns red when you first put the mic on, but then goes off ( probably to conserve battery) So sometimes I forget it is still on after I have finished using it for the day

This kit is absolutely wonderful. It is perfect for the pro-sumer market and will be one that I continue to recommend. The Sennheiser MKE 600 is one of the absolute best budget supercardioids available and will be a great addition to one's collection for years to come. The rest of the kit is just what one needs to get started. The accessories are perfect for the microphone and are well built for the price. I highly recommend this product.

Great-sounding mic. Better and cheaper than more expensive models (I'm looking at you, ME66). Only time will tell, but because of the all metal construction I suspect it'll end up being more durable than other more expensive shotgun mics (again, I'm looking at you, ME66, with your plastic body that wears out after normal use).

This mic far outperformed my expectations! After using this mic for on-camera work in a very busy and loud convention hall, this microphone made isolating my main subject's audio very very easy. The result was warm and clear and I didn't struggle removing any white noise. I cannot stress the quality of the result for the cost of this microphone and recommend it for anyone capturing video journalism in noisy settings, as well as any other audio you need to catch directly in front of the camera.

my go to mic (i have 2) great all purpose directional mic. use either with battery when you don't have phantom - or without when you do. works well both in small surroundings and outside in windshield. note - is very thin so don't expect it to fit an on camera mic holder without some rubber accessory.

I consider this the truly magic mic. Just used it on a commerial - emergency rush job - no wind screen and all the pros involved on the job wanted to know how i got the voice over sounding so well. Highly recommend it for ALL occasions !

This is my 3rd MKE 600. I have tried other mics but none have the same quality and diversity. I do a lot of run and gun type shooting. Sometimes I am within 3 feet of the subject, other times I am 10 or more feet back. It picks up the sound really well. And because of the design it can cancel out or minimize the sound from beside and behind the mic while getting a great capture from in front of the mic. The only thing I wish is that they had one that was shorter. It does not replace a lav but if you can not or do not want to use a lav this is the next best thing (for me anyway). ... More

Having used mics from a Videomic Pro to a top of the line Sennheiser, this little mic really impressed me. I was looking into the Rode NTG equivalent, having borrowed a friend of mine's to test it out, and this was the clear winner. Much better range, way more directional, you can't go wrong with this model.

First time use ever at my daughter's graduation shoot. Took it out of the shipping box used my camera's mount and and stating to use it right there and then. I adjusted the input volume and that was that, I had a clear and balanced audio from the Microphone. I have been using Sennheiser shotgun mics for the past 20 years and this one is an excellent option for video at a lower price range.

It is a good mic, not as good as the 416, but definitely a good value for the money. It has a definite brightness to it, and I could use a little more on the low end. I would also like to see better off axis rejection from it, but for the most part it gets the job done, and you can EQ around most of the problems. Bottom line, it is a good mic for the money and has the Sennheiser build quality.

Fantastic mic. I connected to Blackmagic Ursa mini 4.6k as camera mic. The sound is warm and natural. I totally recommend this mic. You won't regret.

The Sennheiser MKE 600 is an excellent mic for mobile projects and ENG style work. Though it is not the same performance as the 416, it is still excellent in it's own right at 1/3 the price with quality sound. The rest of the kit works great, no issues here...the boom pole is solid, and all cords work fine. The included dead cat, and shockmount do the job. Well worth the price for the kit with the included discount savings.

Fantastic Mic. I took this into the sound room at B&H superstore and listened to it next to the MKH 416 and they sound so similar. The MKH 416 picks up a bit more in the highs but for the additional couple hundred dollars, i couldn't really tell the difference. Definitely recommend going to their superstore if you live in the greater NYC area so you can listen to them through your own ears.
