This is a great mic that can easily plug into a DSLR or other camera. I also purchased the Rode XLR adapter which allows me to use it with my DR-40 or any other standard audio input. The audio quality is very good. The high pass/power switch is easy to use. My only real complaint with this mic is that you must remove the battery cover and battery to switch patterns.

Everything shipped without a hitch, thanks B&H. The microphone works extremely well mounted on the camera and even better on the boom pole. The cable will definitely outlast the cheap one it replaced and the wind screen does what it should. This kit is a major step up from the wired lapel I was using before.

The videomic comes ready for you to use. All that it requires is a 9 volt battery. You will defiantly grab peoples attention when you have this on your device. What i really like about the Videomic is that the Lyre suspension gets rid of any noise a regular mic might pick up while handling your device. Overall the Videomic is amazing for its price.

I have it hooked up to my Tascam compact recorder on the end of a boom pole at the moment and I couldn't ask for more. I love it when I'm trying to record silence in between dialogue and works like a charm with no noise at all even with a refrigerator down the hall. I've got no real complaint with this thing.

Big sound on a small budget. I use this unit mounted on a DSLR camera and couldn't be happier. I have purchased other units for more money and I'm hard pressed to see a great difference in the sound quality it captures. This unit is great for capturing a broad spectrum of sound. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone. CONS... The mounting hardware could be a little more robust.

I use this mic mounted on a Canon HF G50. This camera has dual shoes and the rear shoe is a proprietary Canon shoe and the front one is industry standard where this device was mounted. I have no issues with the performance of the mic itself. However, I noted that when I was outside filming while in motion and the wind kicked up, the windscreen would pop into the frame momentarily. For this reason, I do not recommend this camera/mic combination.

Use this with 5D Mkii and 60D for video interviews when I need something light, portable and don't have too much background noise. Directionality is okay but nothing like the Sennheiser MKH-416, the only other mic I can compare it to. This is a good, inexpensive mic for on-camera recording when the situation isn't too demanding.

I'm very happy I chose to go with this mic. It picks up sounds great, even outdoors. It lives up to it's name as the VIDEO MIC. I shot a wedding with this mic and it picked up the ceremony beautifully, with very little interference. I use mine with the canon 60D.

I'm a full time photographer and find myself adding a little video to most of my shoots. I've used an external recorder to capture audio, but have to sync the video with audio in post. The Rode mic allows me to add great audio at the time of capture. It's a no brainer. I don't know why I did not get one sooner.

It is a medium-quality mic. The price - product is correct.I do not understand why the switch gain access is so difficult and under the battery. That's really bad.

I do a lot of free lance video work and this mic will help with all my jobs, including some short films. The audio it gets is superb. The mic is durable... the 10 year warranty is a blessing. It's easy to use and it does it's job well. It seems flimsy at times due to camera movement but I can work around that and it doesn't affect the audio much.

Used the mic with Canon 60d, heard loud hissing while play the recording, tried to record with different setting, reduced sensibility, problem still remained, also it does not stay in place if you tilt your camera, it will slip out, returned it to B&H.

I Bought this product with a boom pole in a kit, and it has lived up to all off my expectations. it is a great product with excellent audio quality and the low cut filter just adds to the mix. the only downside is you can not remove the suspension system to mount the mic directly. other than that i would recommend this mic to anyone whether they are just starting out or at the prosumer level.

I recently purchased the Rode Videomic to use with my canon 7d setup. I record dialogue and other sounds with it externally into a Tascam DR07 Mk II and the quality is superb. It has taken my video work to a new level.

After a little while, the insulation on the plug cord began peeling off. I taped it with electrical tape. Then two more sections fell off, exposing the bare copper wire. I taped those, at which point the cord looked ridiculous. For an almost new microphone, it's unacceptable for it to simply fall apart during light, normal, indoor use.

I use the Rode VideoMic for independant Documentary and narrative film work. It can be mounted on camera or on a boom. It impressed me because of the professional sound that it produces. In the Independant film community this is a 'go to' mic. I was dissapointed at needing to purchase an XLR adapter in order to use standard XLR cables.

This isn't the greatest mic you can buy, but, for the price, it's right. I used it as a plug in to my DSLR and shot interviews in a noisy outdoor environment...the mic picked up everything my subject was saying...I was surprised and impressed. It feels a little flimsy so I got the protection program on it just in case. All in all I think it's the perfect mic for on the go shooting..
