Flimsy. Dip switches are inside the battery compartment, and they are impossible to flip without a very small screwdriver. I.e., they are not meant to be used. I flipped them anyway, and the mic never worked again. When mic worked, I suppose it was better than nothing, but this mic is hardly more than a toy.

Bought this kit to make a 48 hour film competition movie. Connected it to a Tascam DR-05 recorder and tested out okay at home, though always seemed a little low. Well I shot an entire short film with this in one weekend only to realize during editing that the output was so low it was almost unusable. The boom pole functioned fine, and I had a sound operator setting levels on the Tascam between every single take, but it didn't help. Hooked the same Tascam to a keyboard and got rich, full sound on the same record settings at much lower gain levels. I had a fresh 9V battery, the extension cable that comes with the kit, and as the DP standing next to him all day I know he had the power on because I could see the little green light glowing. ...
