You cannot go wrong with a RODE mic. Much better than the shotgun mics that come with the video camcorder. I am using this on one of my two new Sony HXR-MC2000U cameras. Prevents most of the side ambient noise from being captured. You also get a set of replacement bands (for the shock system) included in the package.

Simple and effective combined with a great price. If you have need of an off camera mike or and on camera mike for your DSLR, look no further. Great control and reliable input. 5 stars for the mount as well Super strong with good give to bumps and jiggles without a sound.

I bought this kit for my son who is a budding film-maker. It works beautifully with a Canon 70D. I ordered on line and the parcels (2) arrived in Australia within a week. Parcels were well packaged and protected. I would have liked to see some written instructions included, though we were able to source solutions on line. Very impressed with the service and quality of the product. Thank you.

I use it with a Canon T4I and sometimes a deadcat ran into the audio jack on the camera. The mic has no issue in cutting through unwanted sound to pick up what I need while filtering out what I don't. The addition of the deadcat does lower the overall volume but does not muffle the sound. Its simple to set up and use. Its light weight and only needs a 9 volt battery.

This product is much better than the older models of Rode VideoMics as I have purchased one of these and am purchasing a second one because of the amazing pickup of these mics. It sounds so much clearer, less-noisy, and overall, much more usable in the end product as compared to my old standard Rode VideoMic (Model produced 3 years ago).

We are using the VideoMic on a digital camera to film church services in a relatively small chapel. The microphone works very well and we are able to hear everything clearly. The only thing that it does not work well with is the pipe organ, in that it distorts the sound. Overall, we are happy with the purchase.

The mic works well, cuts wind noise well. BUT don't forget to turn it on with the little white switch or you will have no audio. To bad when you plug the cable in, it can't turn it on without the switch. But very happy with it anyhow.

I used this on my GH1 video rig once, I previously owned an Audio-Technica ATR6550 which failed to me during a live event recording. This RODE mic stayed with me all day long recording better audio quality than the Audio Technica mic. I still haven't used it as much as to test the life of the little bands of the mount, but it comes with some spare ones.

Big sound on a small budget. I use this unit mounted on a DSLR camera and couldn't be happier. I have purchased other units for more money and I'm hard pressed to see a great difference in the sound quality it captures. This unit is great for capturing a broad spectrum of sound. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone. CONS... The mounting hardware could be a little more robust.

Bought this for some light traveling abroad, knowing I'd want to do some quick/on-the-spot interviews with people I'd encounter. Simple and easy to use, only needs 1 9V battery that lasts for at least 100hrs. Great sound quality, unfortunately you get a bit more ambient noise tossed in there since this is a mic that gets mounted on your camera instead of a boom.

I use this mic for recording clips at high school football games, and public service announcements for my local cable access channel. The sound quality that comes from this mic is greatmuch better than the 7D's built-in mic, not to mention the ease of use. The only thing that concerns me about this mic is the plastic construction. I don't think it could take much abuse.

This mic is easy to use, easy to attach to my DSLR, and does a very good job of recording voices. When I try to record music, however, like a street performer, the quality is less than ideal. However, I suspect that top-end mics for good music quality are not within my budget. So, overall I think it's a reasonable mic.

Use this with 5D Mkii and 60D for video interviews when I need something light, portable and don't have too much background noise. Directionality is okay but nothing like the Sennheiser MKH-416, the only other mic I can compare it to. This is a good, inexpensive mic for on-camera recording when the situation isn't too demanding.

I'm very happy I chose to go with this mic. It picks up sounds great, even outdoors. It lives up to it's name as the VIDEO MIC. I shot a wedding with this mic and it picked up the ceremony beautifully, with very little interference. I use mine with the canon 60D.

Plug it in turn it on. Very cool suspension system that keeps the mic steady when shoting while moving or walking. I like the 9v battery instead of using up my 7D battery power. I wasn't aware of the filter options, those are a definite plus. Not crazy about the bulk. Tough to fit in a small camera bag, but now I have a reason to do some more shopping...need a new bag.

With this baby on my 7D I look like im doing serious work, even though im just shooting a family outing. Remember to be modest when people compliment your camera and mic. Oh also the sound quality is magnificent. It's so good its inspired me to begin shooting a short film.

This is a great mic that can easily plug into a DSLR or other camera. I also purchased the Rode XLR adapter which allows me to use it with my DR-40 or any other standard audio input. The audio quality is very good. The high pass/power switch is easy to use. My only real complaint with this mic is that you must remove the battery cover and battery to switch patterns.

This mic works great with my Canon T2i/Zoom H4n setup. Whenever I shoot I've got this guy attached. Had to engage the -10db pad cause the signal's super hot, the pad switch is kind of inconveniently located though. Picks up sound well, but still recommend a wireless setup for the wider shots. Would be nice to have an extension included for use with a boom.

This is a great microphone. Some people say the shock mount is too wobbly, however I didn't find this to be an issue. The problem I faced was that my dslr has AGC and I was not aware of this prior to my purchase. So when i plugged my mic in i got this extreme hiss. This is no fault of the mic, its the fault of the camera.
