I'm very happy I chose to go with this mic. It picks up sounds great, even outdoors. It lives up to it's name as the VIDEO MIC. I shot a wedding with this mic and it picked up the ceremony beautifully, with very little interference. I use mine with the canon 60D.

i use this mic with my canon vixia hv40. its an awesome microphone with great audio. when i compared the audio from the hv40's on board speakers the videomic was far Superior. sounds that the on board mic would never pick up the videomic picked up clearly! i love it!

Currently using this on the Nikon Z6 for vlogging and documentary type film and it works just fine. You need a good denoiser for this one however as there is a static sound that you'll hear when not speaking as much.

I use this product in my no-budget films and it has worked great for me so far! I like the nice cable that goes from the mic to the camera and it feels very strong. One thing that I didn't exactly like was that there were only to different DB adjustments, but that is just the fact that I didn't spend more money.

I recently purchased the Rode Videomic to use with my canon 7d setup. I record dialogue and other sounds with it externally into a Tascam DR07 Mk II and the quality is superb. It has taken my video work to a new level.

I knew I needed an external microphone for our school DSLR camera for quite some time, but wanted to do my research and find a good brand/model. Colleagues and the reviews online swayed me to decide upon the Rode VideoMic and I've been happy ever since! B&H made it easy to find these reviews, compare products, and make a decision based off the general knowledge I had obtained.

This is a great microphone. Some people say the shock mount is too wobbly, however I didn't find this to be an issue. The problem I faced was that my dslr has AGC and I was not aware of this prior to my purchase. So when i plugged my mic in i got this extreme hiss. This is no fault of the mic, its the fault of the camera.

With this baby on my 7D I look like im doing serious work, even though im just shooting a family outing. Remember to be modest when people compliment your camera and mic. Oh also the sound quality is magnificent. It's so good its inspired me to begin shooting a short film.

Used the mic with Canon 60d, heard loud hissing while play the recording, tried to record with different setting, reduced sensibility, problem still remained, also it does not stay in place if you tilt your camera, it will slip out, returned it to B&H.

I have it hooked up to my Tascam compact recorder on the end of a boom pole at the moment and I couldn't ask for more. I love it when I'm trying to record silence in between dialogue and works like a charm with no noise at all even with a refrigerator down the hall. I've got no real complaint with this thing.

It did exactly what I needed it to! Unfortunately, I had to use this thing without getting to test it before the shoot but it worked great! I mounted it to the hot shoe, gave it a 9v, turned it on, and got amazing audio (even in wind). * Great way to add clean audio to a DSLR * Beware - the attachment gets loose easily, make sure you have a screwdriver!

Big sound on a small budget. I use this unit mounted on a DSLR camera and couldn't be happier. I have purchased other units for more money and I'm hard pressed to see a great difference in the sound quality it captures. This unit is great for capturing a broad spectrum of sound. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone. CONS... The mounting hardware could be a little more robust.

Would recommend this to people just getting into shooting only and those who need bang for the buck in controlled environments. In louder and more unpredictable circumstances this can not be trusted to properly handle the situation.

Got this for my daughter's recital and it work like champ I did not hear the people around me and the sound was first rate. Only down side is you draw allot of attention with this mounted on your camera. One nosey mother right in the middle ask me if I was a professional when I am concentrating on getting the shot.

Nowhere else will you find a product of this quality for this price. I use mine for recording instructional videos for online classes. The audio quality I'm getting is worlds better than it ever has been. I love that the mic isn't bulky or tough to manage... it attaches cleanly to my camera and is so easy to use. Very happy with my purchase.

I use the Rode VideoMic for independant Documentary and narrative film work. It can be mounted on camera or on a boom. It impressed me because of the professional sound that it produces. In the Independant film community this is a 'go to' mic. I was dissapointed at needing to purchase an XLR adapter in order to use standard XLR cables.

This is a very good mic for getting into doing DSLR video. I bought this mic as my first mic (other than my internal on my 60D) and it works phenomenally! I love how light it is and easy to use! The only thing is it may feel a little flimsy but it is well worth the money! Definitely a great starter mic.

This isn't the greatest mic you can buy, but, for the price, it's right. I used it as a plug in to my DSLR and shot interviews in a noisy outdoor environment...the mic picked up everything my subject was saying...I was surprised and impressed. It feels a little flimsy so I got the protection program on it just in case. All in all I think it's the perfect mic for on the go shooting..

First time using an external mic and will take some getting used to (decibel settings, HPF etc) Easy to set up, no fuss no dramas. Fits on both my Sony A7R and Nikon D800 Lightweight, barely feel its there Would be nice if RODE provided a carry pouch as well, afraid of damaging the suspension when placed inside a bag

I made several tests with the Rode mic and I thought the sound level and clarity is terrific. The one issue I have is more with the Suspension System, it still transmits lens autofocus sounds to the mic making a constant thumping and clicking in the soundtrack. Taking the mic off camera eliminates the sound, putting it back on the shoe mount brings it back. So far I have only been able to make videos using manual focus until I find another mounting system.
