Really this microphone offers good audio levels when you're around (the sound is clear and clean) The problem is presented in distant planes, behaves like the Sennheiser MKE 400 (which is lighter, discreet and resilient). Now this Rode mic I use as a second support connected to a Zoom H4n

Crystal clear audio when plugged into my canon t3i. Solid construction. Dependable 9volt battery power supply.

This mic is very light weight, only needs a 9v battery and can easily connect to most cameras and mount on the top. Very good for beginners but high enough quality for semi-pro.

I recently purchased the Rode Videomic to use with my canon 7d setup. I record dialogue and other sounds with it externally into a Tascam DR07 Mk II and the quality is superb. It has taken my video work to a new level.

The mic its self is quite big for my liking but the audio out of its is very good for the price you pay for it. If you are looking to Vlog or just upgrade your audio this would be a great item for you. I would not recommend this if you want a professional audio sound out of a shotgun mic, to that i would say get the pro version.

I purchased the VideoMic and the VideoMic Pro. The standard VideoMic sounds great but if you have the money go with the Pro version it is miles ahead. I don't want to turn you away from this, because this has almost the same sound; Its just that the VideoMic Pro has that +20db Switch which helps improve the signal to noise. Exellent product from Rde.

With this baby on my 7D I look like im doing serious work, even though im just shooting a family outing. Remember to be modest when people compliment your camera and mic. Oh also the sound quality is magnificent. It's so good its inspired me to begin shooting a short film.

I'm very happy I chose to go with this mic. It picks up sounds great, even outdoors. It lives up to it's name as the VIDEO MIC. I shot a wedding with this mic and it picked up the ceremony beautifully, with very little interference. I use mine with the canon 60D.

I used this mic for the first time on a trip to Africa. I was shooting with a Canon Rebel t4i and the sound was amazing! I was very surprised at how clearly it picked up an individual person from 20-25 feet away and how crystal clear the sound was. I didn't notice any motor noise from the camera. I highly recommend this mic!

I use it with a Canon T4I and sometimes a deadcat ran into the audio jack on the camera. The mic has no issue in cutting through unwanted sound to pick up what I need while filtering out what I don't. The addition of the deadcat does lower the overall volume but does not muffle the sound. Its simple to set up and use. Its light weight and only needs a 9 volt battery.

This mic is a great buy. Good pricing and quality. It works well as a shotgun, isolating (somewhat) the noises around. Good piece of gear for quick on-the-go recordings. Of course, you get what you pay for. This is not the best shotgun mic in the market, but it is a good one, especially for using with DSLR. Build quality is fine, and battery lasts well.

I use this mic for recording clips at high school football games, and public service announcements for my local cable access channel. The sound quality that comes from this mic is greatmuch better than the 7D's built-in mic, not to mention the ease of use. The only thing that concerns me about this mic is the plastic construction. I don't think it could take much abuse.

This mic works great with my Canon T2i/Zoom H4n setup. Whenever I shoot I've got this guy attached. Had to engage the -10db pad cause the signal's super hot, the pad switch is kind of inconveniently located though. Picks up sound well, but still recommend a wireless setup for the wider shots. Would be nice to have an extension included for use with a boom.

i use this mic with my canon vixia hv40. its an awesome microphone with great audio. when i compared the audio from the hv40's on board speakers the videomic was far Superior. sounds that the on board mic would never pick up the videomic picked up clearly! i love it!

This is a great microphone. Some people say the shock mount is too wobbly, however I didn't find this to be an issue. The problem I faced was that my dslr has AGC and I was not aware of this prior to my purchase. So when i plugged my mic in i got this extreme hiss. This is no fault of the mic, its the fault of the camera.

As a substitute for the in-camera mic on the current crop of DSLRs, the Rode VideoMic does a superb job of capturing sound at a very attractive price. The Lyre suspension isolates the mic from the camera body, and helps eliminate sound of the IS in the lens, and other close camera handling issues in a run and gun situation.

I got this mic to attach to my Canon 5D Mark II DSLR for video shoots. Typically I use a whole sounds setup but this mic picks up great audio for quick shoots or reference sound. The shockmount is a must as vibrations tend to resonate on the body, especially since the Canon 5D's make that writing on the card noise. All in all, great mic for quick fast shoots or reference sound on a DSLR rig.

I bought this kit for my son who is a budding film-maker. It works beautifully with a Canon 70D. I ordered on line and the parcels (2) arrived in Australia within a week. Parcels were well packaged and protected. I would have liked to see some written instructions included, though we were able to source solutions on line. Very impressed with the service and quality of the product. Thank you.

This isn't the greatest mic you can buy, but, for the price, it's right. I used it as a plug in to my DSLR and shot interviews in a noisy outdoor environment...the mic picked up everything my subject was saying...I was surprised and impressed. It feels a little flimsy so I got the protection program on it just in case. All in all I think it's the perfect mic for on the go shooting..

This product is much better than the older models of Rode VideoMics as I have purchased one of these and am purchasing a second one because of the amazing pickup of these mics. It sounds so much clearer, less-noisy, and overall, much more usable in the end product as compared to my old standard Rode VideoMic (Model produced 3 years ago).
