I bought this microphone online from BHPhoto, ... I'm using this mike with a canon 5D mk2. The mike is pretty small and do not add too much weight on your camera which is good especially if you hand held your camera or you are using a stabilization system. The sound quality is pretty good whatsoever but I think that it should cost less than what costs now. This is the reason I gave it 4 stars.

Been using this bad boy on shoots for 2 years. The micro boom pole is extremely lightweight and allows me to get great proximity when doing interviews. Love this little kit. I don't know how this mic compares to the Rode VideoMic Pro concerning sound quality, but my only wish would be that this mic was as small as that one. This one is not as easy to travel with because the plastic packaging is bulky.

Connects to flash shoe and jack, so you can use it on the DSLR itself, plus it's on rubber mounts, so all the operation noises are muffled. It has much superior sound to built-in mics, plus you can change it's sensitivity, if your DSLR doesn't have manual controls of input level (like Canon 60D). It's not the smallest mic, but if you are at least semi-serious about DSLR video, you should consider it.

I got the booming kit and it works very well. The mic is very directional so it doesn't pick up any surrounding sound. When boomed, you can clearly hear dialogue which is great. I compared it to the Canon DM-50 and found that it is best to have the mic off of the camera. The DM-50 requires to be on the shoe mount of my Canon HV20. The Rode Mic seems to be a little bassy but I think that can be fixed. Otherwise amazing mic!

I have recently been attempting to add some professionalism to my video work and this mic has made it extremely easy to record audio directly to my camera (dslr) easily and at great quality. Out of the box it required a 9 volt battery which is nice when you consider it isn't draining your camera battery. The only thing I would change would be to add a longer 3.5mm audio cable in the box, but you can get those relatively inexpensively.

I purchased the Rode VideoMic in use for short films. I have yet to use it in that scenario, but through multiple tests (including videos in a very loud stadium) I can assure you that the sound is very directional, clear, and crisp. So far, I have nothing bad to say, and the price for the quality is unbeatable.

I've used this mic to record a wedding, family events, live music and more to go on. I use it on my D5200, which records pretty good audio, but I needed something extra* This was the mic I decided to go with after looking around for a while. Picks up good audio from what I've recorded and its powered which is a nice option. The only issue is if subjects are too far away, you can pick them up, but you might have to boost them up during the edit. All in all not a bad mic for the price.

I got this microphone for the sr-10, but recently got the HDR-Ax2000 which uses xlr inputs. So I had to get the mono converter from rode, stereo to xlr. Which isn't a big deal. The shock mount is not the best, its annoying because its really flimsy, and the little rubber bands break easily. And there about $12 for 8! For beginners looking for a good microphone, I say get it! But if you are looking for a good xlr microphone and if your a professional get the rode NTG-2!

I used this for the first time at a wedding reception. I was getting an interview from the father of the bride and the music was blaring in the background so I couldn't hear half of what he was saying. I assumed the audio would be unusable but to my surprise you could hear every word crystal clear. This mic has exceeded my expectations. A must have for DSLR video.

I bought it as a general purpose mic for a camera with a mini (1/8) jack. I also like that there are plenty of accessories that can be purchased for it and it can be mounted on a boom pole as well. The Rode VideoMic has proven itself time and time again in my productions and with countless other small(ish) budget productions it's a great mic for a great price from a great company.

When you need to do photo and video at the same time, and good sound is needed, this is the fast way to do it. Video needs good sound linked with it. This Shotgun mic sets on my mark 2 well. cables and plugs fit. It has controls for db gain and more. off and on switch, so I can keep connected as I go to Photo mode. I do wish a case was included. Get the wind screen pull over to help if out on windy day.

I got the mic to record on camera for interviews and small short films. It works great very clean sound out of the mic. The only thing I don't like about it is how it connects to the boom pole you can get to be very tight and It won't fall off from light shaking or moving but if you run it into something hard it might . The good new is the mic can take a fall Just fine and keep going. This is a great set for people who want good sound from there HDslr kits

Good is all aspect except the size... Good audio, good battery life, surprisingly durable...I have 2 of them for years, covering wedding every weekend, and so far, never break or have any issue... Only down size maybe is the size...especially compare to my Sennheiser MKE 400, but then my Sennheiser MKE 400 always break...end up preferring this Rode mic over my Sennheiser.

Good mic for the price. Good for events and weddings. Watch out for distorion if bass is overdriven and music is too loud. Manual audio adjustment a MUST. If not pointed directly at source of sound, audio quality drops off immediately.Watch out for noise vibration from shock mount. Add extra bands to stabilize and reduce. Also make sure you have your camera setting right before you role. Will pick up IS, and AV or TV adjustment clicks. With some practice this is a great tool.

I used the VideoMic to shoot a wedding and also for a few interviews that I have done. It captures the sound great and I haven't had any issues with it. There is definitely a significant increase in the quality of the recordings compared to the onboard mic on my 7D. I have only used it for indoor recordings so I am not sure how well it will perform outside yet. The only thing that I would say I don't like about it is how much it moves around and it can pick up that movement sometimes.

I used this mic with my Canon T3i. The sound was crisp and clear and the mic was so easy to use. The biggest treat of all: It's great quality, yet has one of the lowest prices for a product of the such. My frieds and myself have plenty of experience with the use of other brands, yet I found this to be the best yet.

I didn't like the way this product functioned at all. I was using a Sony HXR video camera. We replaced the stock mic and put this one in place of it. It over drove the daylights out of the pre-amp. The suspension system still let a fair amount of low end rumble make it through to the mic when being handled on a boom pole. In its defense there is no mic gain adjustment really on the Sony, so those of you with better cameras may have much better luck.

This product is very good for the price. Go on head and buy a Duracell battery and it will last you up to 100 hours. I would recommend this to anyone since this is a good mic to start off with. Not too cheap and not too expensive.

The shock mounts works well eliminating noise from handling the camera. It is light and is worthy of an on board camera mic, capturing quality nat sound.

This mix gives me consistent results in a light frame. It sits atop my camera for run and gun camera shooting and it works great. At the same time, I'm not sure how it'll handle harsh bumps since it's so light.
