This mic is perfect for the traveling videographer. No batteries? Yup! This mic runs off your camera's 3.5mm microphone jack. No more spacing out and leaving your mic on. I bought this mic for a trip I'm taking to Costa Rica to shoot a music festival. Now I can take mic batteries off my list. One less thing to worrie about. As far as sound quallity goes, its a Rode. That should answer your question.

This mic is suited for studio or indoors only. It's completely useless in the outdoors. Even with the deadcat, it fails completely. It's cheaply made and has a horrible vibration noise if you move your camera around too much. Not impressed at all. Going to move on to something more professional. Disappointing.

Slightly better sound quality than with Canon 70D built in mic. Only difference this mic is shotgun type, so it records sounds that come from the front only, unlike my camera's built-in mic, that is omnidirectional.Light and easy to use, no batteries required.

If you just want the highest quality audio you can get with litetally no fuss, this is perfect. It is plenty sturdy, plenty good for the money and the plug-and-play style use is the easiest you can find. Simple, cheap and works. If you want better quality at a higher price check out the other videomic products.

WOW! I am very impressed with this mic. My T2i records sound well but this mic helps to recore sound even better...it makes my interviews sound professional! I really love it!

Very handy little shotgun mic for any starter videographer. It uses no batteries to capture sound. Just mount, plug in, and record. And for only $, the sound quality is quite decent.I wouldn't recommend this for professional, or even prosumer uses, but it's a great way to start on a budget.

Great product, I've only used it a few times, but so far I am very satisfied. The Mic is lightweight, so it doesn't tire you out while handholding and shooting. It also is extremely easy to setup and use! It really brings the audio/video experience to shooting with a DSLR to the next level.

We use this for back-up audio. It isn't perfect or even amazing, but it does the job. When we do use the audio from this mic we do quite a bit of adjusting to it afterwards. It occasionally makes buzzing sounds and has to be readjusted. Overall, though, for the price, it does a good job and capturing backup audio.

We use this for nat sound on our 7D Mark ii. Works very well. Clean audio. We even used it for a quick spot interview during a run and gun situation and as long as you're close to the subject and are aimed at them you can get good, usable audio. This mic is a fantastic bargain for the price.

Using this with a Lumix GH3. Initial test in my studio produced very good results. Also tested with a band playing at an outdoor event and got better than expected quality.

This is a great mic for vlogging, professional videography, etc. I shot some video with it and it picks up great sound from multiple directions and works well in high-wind settings. As a female videographer, I am also a fan of compact, lightweight, and high-quality equipment such as this.

Very lightweight, size is not too big and great quality from 2-3 feet. Further than a few feet this mic is not so great but for the price its a great upgrade for a hobbist. Autofocus sound from the lens still creeps in to the audio.

I record family videos and also weddings and it does the job very well. The quality is very good for it's price. The fun part is I don't have to worry about battery for the mic like my older model I used to have.

A great improvement from your DSLR mic and no worries about having batteries to power the mic, its really a great deal!

I've tried cheaper shotgun mics and the audio was useless. I decided to cop the $100 and man I'm glad I did!

I did not want a huge mic and did not want to deal with batteries and this works very well. Better sound quality then the camera built in mice. I do not feel any additional weight to camera when using which is nice.

The instructions on the website state very clearly that this microphone does not have batteries, and so it draws on power from the camera in order to work. Be sure that the camera you intend to use this with will provide power to it, or it won't work. If your camera does not provide power, then by a microphone that has batteries.

Does the job well. Just make sure its on tight and you don't touch the cable going into your mic jack. Filmed a shot by the ocean - picked the voice up well and a little of the wave and ocean sounds which were removed in post.

I purchased this microphone to be an all-around workhorse for shooting musical ensembles and interviews. So far, it works great - may TOO great. I've had to ratchet down the input sensitivity on my 7D because the mic is very hot. Overall, a good investment that does exactly what it's supposed to do.
