I love the Rode VideoMic, I have used them shooting weddings for years, and it is the best way to have backup audio in case your other mics don't follow through. The audio is always clear and you barely notice it is on your camera.

The Rode mic is small, but mighty. It's a great option for the professional videographer seeking a more affordable option for audio recording, while not lacking in quality. It's not the best audio quality on the market, but it definitely adds the sense of professionalism you need to create a quality product. It's a great first-mic option for me.

Super easy to use and when I hold it off camera, the sound quality really ups my game. I do get a clicking sound when it is mounted on camera and I saw that there were other users with this issue, too. I need to mess around with it more, but hopefully I can figure out what to do so I can use it hands-free on my camera (Nikon D500)

Use this guy for gator and duck hunting. It has picked up some really great gator hisses and growls. Good to about 40 yards.

this mic is probably the best mic I purchased for the price. I use it with my Nikon d7000 and its compatible with any camera that has a mic input. Clear and no noise. I did notice that when my hdmi cord is plugged into my camera my microphone picks up the electrical current so I propose not using it when the hdmi cord is plugged up.

This is a battery free mic (other than camera batteries) and its light weight. Small and easy to use. It is great for a backup mic in interview style scenarios.

I have used this to film speaking events and it is very good. It gets clear audio of people talking with and without microphones, much better than not having a shotgun mic. Very good, especially for the price. When the camera moves around it bobbles and doesn't stay still, but probably because it is so light. Not great to store somewhere, it's not very big, but it seems very delicate to bring to places if not in it's original box.

Super light weight, and no batteries!! Even without a special wind screen you will notice the audio quality is so much better outdoors than using the in-camera mic!! I use it on the Canon T5i - you will notice Rebel owners all over using the VideoMic Go, if you have a much more expensive camera, there's a good chance you will want higher quality audio and have the money to do so. There's no question this is a significant upgrade no matter what kind of videography you do!

Much better quality than the stock mic without breaking the bank. Love the no battery, plug and play operation. Very lightweight. I have it on a Canon T6i -- it' a little tricky to take photos with the mic attached, but doable.

The rode go works very well with my d810 which supports power to passive microphones. Its pretty much plug and play if the camera is on auto level. The sound is better than the build in, though in quiet environments, whitenoise is relatively strong. I wouldn't recommend it for interview situations.

This little microphone is great for capturing sound directly to your camera's card. Light weight, fits in the canon hot shoe, makes for a very portable shooting rig. Great little mic for the price. The only downside is if you are not using a batter pack for your DLSR camera you will need to change the camera battery more often as it get's its power from the camera itself.

After debating getting this or the more expensive Pro model, I decided on the Go as I didn't want to mess with extra batteries, especially a 9v. The mic is lightweight and works fantastic. Sound quality is a lot better than the built in 70D mic. One negative is the mic sticks back over the eyepiece. It does get in the way if you want to take a photo instead of video.

Clicking and interference issues with internal wifi on multiple cameras. No one wants to have issues and have to trouble shoot. Save yourself the headache and purchase the pro version. I wasted 4-5 hours of video on initial testing, communicating with Canon, Rode and B&H. I wish that time could have been spent in production, not trouble shooting.

I use this on my Canon 7D, where it works great. I shoot video professionally as well with EX cams and DSLRs and the like. This mic holds its own in the field. Not having to worry about batteries is great. The cord and suspension are well built and pack well. I like that size and ease of use over the videomic pros. The sound quality is very good and responds well in post. A long hair softie is a must have for me.

The Rode VideoMic GO is a great alternative to relying on the on-camera mic on your DSLR or compact camcorder. It is lightweight, easy to attach, has good shock absorption and decent sound reproduction. The supplied windscreen is relatively ineffective outdoors, so I recommend you spend the extra $$and opt for the Rode windscreen (B&H # RODCG MFR # DEADCAT GO)if you plan on shooting outdoors. Make sure your device is compatible since it requires a powered jack to work.

Mic did a pretty good job of recording our wedding on the beach. Voices were clear, and you could still hear the surf in the background a little. Overall I'd say it does it's job. Just don't believe it deserves 5 stars. I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonable external microphone

As a current video and film student I will use it for my both school and personal projects. I used this same mic while filming a documentary in the US Virgin Islands for a summer class and it worked great. This mic is very easy to use and sits perfectly on top of a DSLR camera. The combo price at B and H is a great deal.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago. On the first shoot, I discovered that it buzzed, picking up noise from any nearby almost any nearby electronics. Contacted Rode, they basically dismissed my issue, saying it was just how they are. I threw away the mic as it was out of the return window. Recently, I needed a mic in a pinch, and a friend offered me his. Same model, but no noise issue. In fact, the mic itself is quite good for the money. Star off for dismissing customer.

Bought this and a Rode wireless Go mic. The wireless one works great. This one always has some interference noise - low but more than I find acceptable. But when used with the wireless mic the interference is 1000x worse and is in no way useable. This was to going to serve as backup audio for the wireless in case it cuts out or spikes. Love my other Rode stuff but don't waste your money on this one!

Price / performance on this unit seems really good in my limited experience with external mikes for the DSLR's with video recording capability. Mike pics up good sound, cut down on wind noise for the first event I used it at since it has the foam on it, and you didn't hear anything from the camera thanks to the mount. Would recommend to anyone getting into shooting video to outperform the included camera mike.
