First... the Go mic worked fine with my Ti4, but I just upgraded to the 5D Mark IV. When you turn the WiFi on, the mic develops a static and ticking noise. I tried another brand new Go mic and got the same results. I then tried the Rode Videomic Pro Plus and the noise was gone. Needless to say, I bought the Pro Plus. So as long as you don't use Wifi the Go mic will work fine.

I'm an entry level film maker, and I have an extremely tight budget. This microphone was a great, cheap, upgrade from my d3300 on board mic, which needed some severe improvement. I highly recommend this product to young people who may not have much money to shell out on a high priced mic but need something to improve sound. When I first got the mic, it was just picking up noise and I was highly displeased. But, I finally pushed the jack in some more and it worked like a charm. Sometimes, it does pick up a bit of noise and can get a little echoey the more you back away from it. But, it is great up close and is even manageable with a little fixing in post or just a couple attempts to get it right in camera. Also, this mic is very easy to use. It's just plug in and go, another great feature. ... More

I've been using this product for a little under a week. It's a pretty good microphone with little to no noise (when used on a low audio level close to sound source). The directional ability is pretty good, when I was doing a fake test interview and holding the mic away from my voice it was barely audible. This microphone has some downfalls however... It is in no way a pro-level microphone. Expect to get $ sound quality from this thing. At high audio recording levels noise is prevalent and noticeable. Working around this in settings, boom work, and post is possible, but not appreciated. You still get that full tonal Rode sound though, and that IS appreciated. All in all definitely worth your money, but if you want a real good microphone to reach those whisper tones, spend a bit more money. ... More

Use with my 70d very light easy to use no batteries needed, I liked that. The recorded sound is respectable. This is not a high end studio mic it is what it is basically used for run and gun for a very reasonable price. You will need a dead cat to use out side in light to moderate wind. If your lens makes noise the mic will pick it up when mounted on camera. I have EF 35mm f2 IS USM lens in a quite setting you can here it focus. I tend to use the manual focus on those occasions where sound is important. This is not the microphone fault after all they are designed to pick up sound. When mounted on camera the mic is not visible in frame even with a EFS 10-18mm wide angle lens attached. I appreciated B&H free expedited mail service. My packaged arrived quickly and I live on the West coast. ... More

Pros: actually works with my camera, drawing power from the mic port (nobody at Nikon could tell me just how much that port supplied). MUCH better audio than the built-in condenser on my D3300. Cons: Its BIG. About 7.5 from plug to mic tip. Somehow the listing doesnt convey that. Its wont fit in my camera bag big. Also, the isolation/mounting bracket seems quite fragile and Im worried itll break as I attach/detach the mic. Would I buy again? Probably not -- Id opt for the mini model instead.

I shoot outdoors only, I love that this mic is lightweight and has great sound quality, but it's so much more sensitive to wind noise than my old mic. Unfortunately my old mic doesn't work with my new camcorder. I bought the windbuster kit with the microphone, but it's still way too sensitive to even a 10 mph wind. Any suggestions would be helpful.

With all their sophisticated technology of my hearing aids, I still have trouble in a classroom because of the acoustics. The standard remote lapel mic lets me hear the main speaker clearly, but not the other voices in the room. So instead I tried to use this product as an auxiliary input to the remote mic, which I keep with me. I point the directional mic at whoever's speaking. I don't hear the main speaker as well as with the lapel-mic mode, but well enough, and I can hear the other voices in the room better. I'm still learning about it. ... More

I have this little marvel almost 3 weeks ago, and I'm very pleased whit it. in few words pack small play big. Is a great deal for the price, and the result are very impresive when you set up well your control input on your camera. I tested on my coolpix P7700 and sound very good with a lower level input, and for my surprise work on my nikon D7000, I don't know if this is a odd situation, but I so happy for it. If you are looking for a good quality, portability, easy to use and NO battery problems this is for you ... More

i originally purchased a rode videomic pro but had to return and exchange it for this, reason being is when i use a panasonic gh2 mounted on a handle with the fisheye lens the micophone would creep in at the top of the shot. this was a couple inches shorter and solved my problem

The sound quality on this is much better than the built in mic of my camera, but its not as clean as my videomic pro. For run and gun shooting and for Vlogging its perfect not having to think about battery life. This mic has a lot of interference issues with cell phones and with the built in wifi of the camera. If you don't turn off the wifi on the camera, the mic makes clicking sounds and its really bad. Also, the other day I was shooting a vlog and I had my cell phone in the shot and the mic picked that sound up as well. Was a really loud clicking sound again. Just be aware of that when you use it. ... More

Honestly is a good mic, for the price and sound quality, But you might get lucky and end up with a buzz/static in your audio. After some research I read that a lot of people had the same problem, you can work around it by changing your camera audio recording settings and using aluminum foil, sometimes it works, Rode has many high quality products, but for this one specifically I didn't have a good experience. I suggest you get another mic, get the Rode VideoMicro is cheaper or just go for the pro version.

A boom/stand combo is much more useful for studio work and a 1-man op in my case. The Auray dead cat is near worthless as is doesn't fit this mic properly; it flunked my wind tests due to gaps at the back of the mic. The Rode boompole won't lock for me at intermediate positions, hence it has sat on the shelf since I got it. Even if I trusted this pole and it's twist-locks, I'll need to buy a 'fork' holder to restrain it. I adapted a reflector-stand into a boom and it works great as it's sturdy and I use the reflector clips to restrain cables. ... More

This product is very great for its price! Has high quality sound for a $$ shotgun microphone! The only complaint I have with this is whenever you record and listen to the sound, it has a very loud sound of quiet buzzing. So I always I have eliminate that sound by editing the sound in a sound editing software. Also, I wish this microphone had an option for focusing the recording on the subject and block off backround noise. Well, its only $$ and its rode's cheapest shotgun mic so what do you expect? Not too much. Overall I recommend this product to anyone who is a beginner in filming or recording music. ... More

Microphone provides better sound than the on camera mic but is easily effected by interference from by wireless router. Anytime I'm in the same room I hear a faint humming and as I get closer it gets louder and eventually makes an awful non stop clicking sound. Stops the moment I turn off the router. Probably going to return it after i research. This can't be normal for all mics can it?

Only used once so far, I am extremely impressed with the quality. I recorded our preschool program on a t7i camera and the microphone picked up all the children singing from quite a distance away from the stage. I am not a professional photographer or videographer which made this product even better since it is so easy to use. I would highly recommend if this to enhance the built in recorder on a digital camera.

Great Microphone, very lightweight and the deadcat that it comes with is very useful! There is no downside to the mic besides that you do notice the strain it puts on the cameras battery but its not that bad. Just make sure you are carrying a couple batteries with you. Would recommend 10/10

I use this product on my Nikon D5300. The D5300 is capable of recording audio in Stereo sound which this Mic is also. The biggest advantage of this mic is that it does not require a battery. It is perfect for extended field use without the need or worry for changing the battery on multiple devices. You just need to worry if your camera will run out of power first. I would recommend having extra camera batteries on hand.

This microphone is light and easy to attach to my camera rig. It is incredibly silent in manual mode and picks up heavily in front (which is a good thing!). On full auto mode, the microphone does create some slight hum, but it is not bad enough to be noticeable to the average person. Incredibly simple to use and is create in a pinch.

Bought this for my son along with the lumix gh5 camera. I originally wanted another mic from rode but the lady in the professional audio section said this one was more durable and less of a chance to break. My son used it to record a high school Chamber Orchestra. The sound came out great. Great advice and great result. I don't regret taking that hour plus ride from Suffolk for my purchases. Over the years I've always wanted to go there and the trip was worth it. Staff is very knowledgeable in their department

I got this camera in a bundle with my canon t7i. The problem with this mic is thta it picks up any close wi-fi signal and you'll then hear hissing and loud clicking noises. So you either turn off your wi-fi or get this.... wrap the wire in aluminum foil smh. I had RODE send me a videomicro. Works just as good if not better. Plus it's cheaper.
