The Bose TV speaker was purchased to improve primarily the clarity of dialogue on the TV. My partner has impaired hearing and it was hard to reach a good compromise between TV volume being too loud for me and her being able to hear. I had tried a few soundbars, probably in their own right decent ones but it was always the same having it so loud she could hear was always too loud for me. This solved the problem dialogue is crisp and clear and volume can be kept low.

After doing some research, and taking into account things like space limitations and Optical vs HDMI(ARC) connectivity, opted to buy this soundbar to ‘replace’ built-in TV (2017 Sony Bravia) speakers - this was to enrich audio output in light of my wife’s hearing problems. General sound quality is much better, especially when watching movies on DVD / Blu-Ray or streaming; bass is very effective (and adjustable) and previously inconspicuous sounds can now be heard, adding to the experience. The option to enhance dialogue is also effective and has made my wife happy. Not the cheapest option, but definitely pleased with the purchase. Very simple to install and configure and should please ‘casual users’ who don’t require surround sound, sub-woofers and so on. ... More

This has bought my tv sound to life.read the manual, I was a bit disappointed with it to start off with until I read the manual and realised I wasn't using it correctly. It didn't work off the tv remote when I first set it up but I switched the optical cable for an hdmi and one control now operates all tv devices,I think it might sound a bit better for it too.my only small criticism is that it doesn't display a volume number on the tv screen but you know when it's loud enough.I think it would be a bit lost in a large room too but I haven't tried it.small enough to hide on the shelf under the tv on the unit, out of site wich I prefere. ... I'm pleasantly surprised, big sound from such a small device. Stereo separation is excellent even though it's small. Bass is very surprising, this can be improved if required with the sub, which is sold separately. It has an option to switch to a speech mode which increases the clarity of voices. It also has Bluetooth, this worked perfectly with no connection issues and is great for some casual music listening. Connectivity is in the form of ARC or Optical, I chose optical as my Sony TV doesn't play nice with anything that isn't Sony. Overall a massive improvement from basic TV speakers and a good sounding dynamic range, as you would expect from Bose. The only downside I have at this price point is there is no display indicating volume levels or mode selection, but this is really only minor. ... More

Purchased this sound bar because the built-in speakers on the TV in my bedroom just didn't cut it. I didn't need a lot of bells and whistles but this unit has a few nice touches anyway. Just plug it in, connect to the audio outputs from your TV (if you are not going to use the optical connection you'll need to purchase a patch cable) and turn it on with the included remote. From that point on you don't really need the remote for the sound bar, everything is controlled from the TV remote. It turns itself on when it detects the presence of audio and turns itself off about 5 minutes after the audio stops. Enable the Bluetooth feature of the sound bar and you can also stream music from your iPad or phone to it as well. It does everything I need it to do and does it well! Recommended. ... More

Absolutely brilliant. Can’t believe the difference from the tv speakers to this! Easy to set up and use. Not too big, and you can purchase the extra subwoofer if you want more base. I’m going to enjoy action movies now. Bring them on!

Bought this to go with a new Sony TV. Takes the sound to a whole different level. Set up using an HDMI lead in the arc terminals on the TV and speaker. Then the speaker volume works with the TV remote. when you turn the TV on the speaker automatically turns on also, same when you turn off. You can adjust the sound you want with a Bose remote at any time. If you set up using the optical cable (supplied) you have to use the bose remote for volume up and down. That's why I like the hdmi lead.

I bought this a few weeks ago to enhance the sound of our LG oled tv. We only gave a small lounge and wanted quality but nothing too extreme in sound for the size of room. This is perfect, it sounds much better than the tv speakers, the voice clarity button on the remote helps speech sound clearer, it was easy to set up. It came already with an optical cable. You can Bluetooth music and use Spotify etc to it which sounds even better than I expected. It fits really neatly under our tv next to the tv box as it’s a good compact size - but still powerful and quite bassy considering there’s no subwoofer, you can attach one if you want though as there’s a port to add one. Really pleased we got it. ... More

My Samsung TV would not set it up using Bluetooth so I was left with either optical or ARC HDMI. Even after checking my TV settings to ensure ARC was enabled, none of my HDMI cables would communicate, so I tried the included optical cable which worked well. I was told that for best sound I should be using HDMI, and so, I purchased an 8K eARC HDMI cable, which was literally "plug and play", and the sound is now really good. It also switches the soundbar on and off with the TV.

Bought to improve sound from t v, as modern t v speakers not up to the job. Didn’t want surround sound speakers with trailing wires everywhere, so this neat little unit fitted the bill. The sound quality is excellent considering the size, and plenty loud enough. It fits nicely in the cabinet below the t v, and looks neat. Easy to set up, only 2 wires to connect, and away you go. I read lots of reviews on various sound bars before deciding on this one, no regrets, it does make watching t v easier, as we can now hear dialogue much clearer. If you need a sound bar to hear the t v, this one is perfect. ... More

Bose TV Speaker I have a Sony tv and the sound was very thin, I kept missing things and had to turn the volume up just to distinguish what was being said. I bought this Bose speaker and now the sound is very balanced and clear, even at low volume. It also gives a nice balanced bass as well, sounds great when turned up too, not Earth shattering but I didn’t want that, thoroughly recommend this speaker.

This speaker is well made and easy to connect using an HDMI lead. It took a while to set it up as the only sound adjustment appears to be the base and being slightly deaf myself I was finding the speech mode was either too sharp or muffled, however after a lot of trial and error on the base adjustment I found the best setting. We watch a lot of TV crime dramas and I was often finding I had to guess what was being said. We are now able to follow the plot keeping the speaker on speech mode.

I’ve bought a few sound bars over the last couple of years for the perfect one. This is it! It sounds amazing watching films with bass. Tv shows with the Dialogue option. Music sounds great on it. No distortion on loud volume. Easy to set up. I’m using a HDMI ARC. Only issue I have with the sound bar is that the sound bar turns on with the tv. (LG) Might be perfect for some. But when our little one watches her kids shows first thing in the morning it’s a bit to much! Would recommend so much!

Bought this speaker mainly for the tv speech enhancement feature and of course the Bose label of quality speakers. Firstly the speaker cannot be connected on HDMI because it won’t handshake with quite a modern Sony Bravia TV . Tried different leads in case that was the problem but no. Connected using the optical cable but then the remote wouldn’t program to my sky remote so that means more remotes!! sort of defeats the objective! The sound quality of background music was very poor when on speech enhancement mode although that worked reasonably well. I returned the speaker for a full refund! ... More

My favourite and best purchase I have made in years. As my partner has slight hearing problems, what a difference this has made to ourselves. I don’t have to have the tv on so loud what with the music and other loud noises from watching films. The speaker itself centres around making the voice clear and doesn’t get drowned out. Purchased for my mom who has a hearing aid but even with subtitles on she was struggling to hear and sometimes the music played during tv shows/films overshadows the voices. We have other Bose products so knew the quality would be great. Exceptionally easy to set up with just 3 wires to plug in,only downside was it doesn’t come with hdmi cable which for the price I would expect it too. The dialogue mode works fantastic and has really helped my mom to hear everything much clearer. The remote is very basic with only 7 buttons but that’s perfect for us. Would highly recommend. ... I reviewed numerous soundbars (Sonos, Samsung, Sony etc) before I chose this and read the reviews and I wasn't disappointed. No need to mess with a complicated remote control. Just adjust the bass or enhance voices and volume. It has made a huge difference to our viewing. Films, sport and TV are enhanced. I would recommend using HDMI only and only use the soundbar, do not use it in conjunction with your tv speakers.
