Just came in the mail today :) I love the sound quality. People complain about the hissing and although it was pretty bad at first, once I figured out how to change all the audio settings on my Canon HF M500 that I just got today as well it sounded fine. All that I was wanting for $ anyways. Would have rated 5 stars but the package was missing the mount for the mic! Boy was I upset when I saw it wasn't in there. I just hope they are helpful with sending me the missing part when I call /: ... More

I purchased this mic to go with our SC-HMX20C HD FLASH MEMORY CAMCORDER. The audio on the camcorder is great indoors, but with our son loving the outdoors and camping we wanted to ensure conversations could be heard and would not be lost in the background noises. This works perfectly!

The built in mic on my Canon HG10 left much to be desired, but the Azden SMX-10 has brought my audio to the next level. It's very light weight...It easily mounts to the shoe and I'm ready to go. I am incredibly happy with it and impressed with how little battery power it uses, I've been using the same AAA battery for several weeks continuously and it's still working perfectly. I am very happy with this microphone..I would recommend it to everyone!

A definate improvement over the built-in microphone on my 60D. And to my suprise I discovered that batteries are not required, the 60D drives the microphone through its own power.

Very pleased with my purchase of the SMX-10. I use this on my Canon 5D Mk.2, recording engagement surprises mostly. Works very effectually on my Canon 5D with the audio better than what I expected. Very power microphone for it size and exactly what I needed. Its compact size stores neatly in my camera bag, ready for use when needed.

I like how compact it is! It was recommended with the new Canon HFS11 however it does not fit very nicely into the top of the camera. I had to cut and trim the mount to fit correctly. However it was worth it!!! The only thing is I wish I had a longer cord because while filming if you turn away from your subject use loose performance but thats what not what a directional mic was intented.

This lightweight mic serves its purpose for recording. I use it with the Canon 7D for interviews. For the price you can't beat it. The sound quality is really descent. You may want to buy a better filter though.

We have used this for interviewing people and it is extremely clear...the only thing is that the mic needs to be very close to the speaker(s) especially in high traffic areas, sometimes requiring an extension cable to do so. Sound quality is very clear, just remember to turn it on before recording.

So far, I have found this mic to be everything that I expected. It's small enough to go easily in my camera bag and looks great on the camera. A short test reveals that you can separate left/right information. The mic is two cardioid mics angled to get left and right sounds. This means that there is some separation left/right but the sounds from the rear also are picked up. Good value for money.

I have had this mic for 3 months and am still using the same battery. I use it on my JVC GZ-HD30 which supplies power thru the jack. I cannot tell a difference with the mic switch on or off so it does work with the power from jack. The mic works so well people think I had a wireless mic on when they watched my hunting videos. Weight is not even noticed on cam.

I have used this mic for both recording interviews indoors, driving and some outdoor speaking. Im using a Sony VX2000 and this mic doesn't really seem like an upgrade. It actually picks up more ambient sound than the on camera mic. There is no battery-level indicator, much less a power indicator light. The isolator mount seems to work well as no camera noise seems present and the audio is clear.

Put this on a canon s10 for outside use, i am close to the beach and there is alot of wind. The wind would drown out my subjects when using the onboard mic, once u turn on the smx-10 bye bye wind noise. This mic has made it possible to get good audio when shooting outdoors with out breaking my wallet...

I use this microphone with the Canon 5d Mark II and it makes such a huge difference over the in-house mic in the camera for obvious reasons. It fits right into the hot shoe and weighs close to nothing. My only backdraw for this mic is the fact that it doesn't have an LED light to indicate whether it's on or off.

I have only used the mic for skateboarding so far and it works great. The sound is way better then the mic on the d300s and the wind cover works well. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there is no LED or anything to let you know if the mic is on. You also can't tell when it dies which may be a problem.

I got this to use on a Canon HF S200, which has a good factory microphone. I like this mic much better. It doesnt pickup the camera noise,or the videographer noise. It fits the camera well, but has to be mounted with an adapter to Canons mini hot shoe. A great mic for small to midsized camcorders.

Purchased for Canon Vixia M40, mostly weddings and sports. Replaced Canon DM-100 microphone with broken foot. Sensitivity is moderately better than camera internal microphone, but camera wind noise is horrible. Biggest issue is to remember to turn-on and turn-off microphone, because it used 1 AA battery; accidentally left on for four days and battery loss was not measurable.

Using it on a Panasonic TM700 camcorder. Works okay, but there is some phasing / echo / reverb effect. Better than the built-in mic, but not as good as its cheaper cousin IMHO, the Azden ECZ-990

I bought his to record better audio with the Panasonic GH1 camera/camcorder. It works very well with it. The sound is clear and crisp. Certainly better than the built in mic. One thing...you will need to buy an adapter to plug it into the GH1 which has a 2.5mm hole. This Azden has a 3.5mm male plug.

I used it on a Canon 7D and it's much better than the built-in microphone quality wise. So for hobbyist like me, this would be a great purchase. Just wish it had an on/off led light. Easy to use, compact and doesn't attract attention. Would recommend it highly to hobbyist.
