I use this microphone with the Canon 5d Mark II and it makes such a huge difference over the in-house mic in the camera for obvious reasons. It fits right into the hot shoe and weighs close to nothing. My only backdraw for this mic is the fact that it doesn't have an LED light to indicate whether it's on or off.

After doing quite a bit of Youtube review types of research, I thought the Azden SMX-10 was a good starting point for me compared to the Rode mic's. Great quality and performance for the price. I'm using this mic on a DIY shoulder rig with a Philips voice tracer recorder. I haven't found a downside to this mic though most reviewers complain of no power on LED indicator.

We have used this for interviewing people and it is extremely clear...the only thing is that the mic needs to be very close to the speaker(s) especially in high traffic areas, sometimes requiring an extension cable to do so. Sound quality is very clear, just remember to turn it on before recording.

Even though it falls in the lower end of the price list, this mic performs rather well. Fits well in the gear bag. Deploys quickly without complication. Offers reasonable sound quality in most conditions. I would have preferred a more expensive unit. Though I am not disappointed I started with this one.

I use this mic with a Panasonic DMC-GH2, and it's a significant upgrade from the built-in stereo mic. It's not a shotgun, but it does help to isolate subject sound from background sound. As others have mentioned, it could use an LED power indicator. But it's relatively inexpensive and does the job, so...

Much better then the built-in mic on my HV20. With the camera mic controls its even better. The only real issue I have with the mic is that I can't tell the difference between the Low frequency filter. It sounds the same on and off.

Using it on a Panasonic TM700 camcorder. Works okay, but there is some phasing / echo / reverb effect. Better than the built-in mic, but not as good as its cheaper cousin IMHO, the Azden ECZ-990

I use the SMX-10 on a JVC 550 camcorder to record the weekly church service. Has improved greatly the audio compared to the cameras built in mics. 1. Its small and very portable. 2. It has a very nice sound pickup in the auditorium. I would recomend it for the great sound you get and the low price cost facter.

I use the product to capture the audio from extreme sports and for recording music videos. the 2 settings work great with my Canon VIXIA HF-M31 HD camcorder.

It's worked for what I needed it for, but sometimes it picks up too much noise that I cant really edit out. Other than that the audio is clean, stable, and nice to use

So far this mic is consistently very good, and fits the HV-40 accessory mount without an adapter. I use it for casual interviews/dialog. It seems to be very effective at sound focus, and blocking out background noises.

This is a great little directional mic, however be sure if you are going to use it on a Canon Vixia camcorder that you order the special hot shoe adaptor (part# PECSAHF)..because the SMX-10 shoe mount will not fit the Vixia hot shoe.

I bought his to record better audio with the Panasonic GH1 camera/camcorder. It works very well with it. The sound is clear and crisp. Certainly better than the built in mic. One thing...you will need to buy an adapter to plug it into the GH1 which has a 2.5mm hole. This Azden has a 3.5mm male plug.

I have had this mic for 3 months and am still using the same battery. I use it on my JVC GZ-HD30 which supplies power thru the jack. I cannot tell a difference with the mic switch on or off so it does work with the power from jack. The mic works so well people think I had a wireless mic on when they watched my hunting videos. Weight is not even noticed on cam.

So far, works well. I have yet to do a true field test. I bought this mic to get a little better quality than the in-camera mic. Since I'm using this with a 7D, I think that the auto-gain is causing some problems. I'll eventually buy a zoom h4 recorder probably. But, this'll suffice for outdoor shoots and on the fly stuff that I might get hired for.

The mic itself is great. The audio is great. The price is great. It was great. The bad part is, despite my research into the mic, I was unaware that the shoe wouldn't fit into the shoe port of my Vixia. It's shoe too big. It'd be nice if I had known that so I could have been prepared. But all in all the audio is nice.

This rugged, simple to use microphone works well with my DSLR camera. The audio quality for voice is acceptable. The mount dampens vibration well. Fine for amateur work.
