I needed a portable shotgun mic to use both on my panasonic video camera in the field as well as my Canon 60D when shooting video. This little mic works perfectly for my needs. As long as you are close enough to the subjects (say within 6 feet or so, the sound is as good as my Seinnhauser mic. I am pleased with the quality.

I love this mic. It's not too big to just mount on the camera when needed or even as a handheld in a pinch. Plus, it seems quite rugged and well made. It greatly reduces unwanted ambient noise. It comes with a fine shockmount. I wish it also came with a short adapter, as some camera external mic jacks are 3.5mm.

Bought this mic to do some filming of Man on the Street type interviews. It works great downtown, can pick up the voices well without having to get all the background noise.Pickup was good till about 15'. I wish it had a light to let me know the battery was on. One small complaint for a nice mic.

I am a video professional, and think that this mic is comparable to the performance of Rode products, for a lesser cost. Does the job, and I am happy with the audio.

I use the SGM-1X for corporate and online videos. It has been excellent. The sound quality is very close to another shotgun I have that cost 5x as much. I had a similar Azden for 8 years and it is very durable.

I use the mic for video work. Usually its plugged into my XLR input on my camera and its picks up great sound. Its a clear sound that really cuts down on room noise. The shock mounts really do their job too.

I've always used lav mics and decided it was time to add a shotgun to my kit. I was on a budget so I bought this mic knowing that I would probably get what I paid for. Compared to my lavs, which may not be a fair comparison, this shotgun mic requires that my sound levels on my recorder be topped-out to get clear audio. However, I am satisfied given the price I paid.

Great sounding microphone considering the price! Highly believe in 'you get what you pay for'. But this mic is low cost for a great sound. No, it's not THE best, but starting out or low budget, I highly recommend. Unless your camera has audio controls, don't get this mic. Buy a mic that you have a little more control with. If that doesn't bother you, plug in & you're ready.

This mic has very high usability and versatility. Tons of uses for it, nice warm sound. Would've liked it better if it actually produces a slightly brighter sound tho. Build is very solid, works very well. Pretty good mic overall....

The Azden SGM-1X is a great shotgun mic. I have used this mic on my boom pole, boom stand and on my Panasonic AG-DVC20. I capture the sound in my Zoom H2 and the Azden SGM-1X produce clear and great sound.

I use this mic on my Canon HV30 camcorder and could not be happier. The sound quality is excellent, the bass roll off VERY useful if AC or other appliances are running in the background. Nice side and rear rejection. Lightweight, AA battery powered. Only small complaint is the shoe mount is a little flimsy. Be sure it is tightened securely or the mic can and will fall off. WOW! Worth every penny.

After a long time reading about many shotgun mics in my budget, I decided SGM-1X was the one to get. It's definitely well made, and comes with a nice case that holds everything nicely. But the audio quality, although good, was not what I expected. At this price range I was hoping for better audio, richer, warmer etc. Hopefully it'll be good enough for my sound guy.

I am using this on my first independent film. After 13 years in the business, I find that this microphone stacks up well against more expensive brands. Good buy.

I got this mic for a low budget production and it handled great. Little background noise. Solid performance. I haven't worked with a bunch of high end mics to compare, but for the price this mic was very good for my use.

The product has a great feel, I'm using it with a Zoom H4N, to be honest I wasn't expecting it to be that good, it captures the sound very crisp and loud. At first I tried it with the Azden SWS-200 High Performance Softie Windscreen on, the sound was ok but as soon as I removed it, I was amazed.

Improve the sound of the videos is not only achieved with a good microphone and as many think. I chose the SGM-1X because in the future i will buy an external amplifier, this microphone(Output Connectors XLR-3M Type )allows me to use this possibility. Nikon 5100 user.

Great buy for the quality you receive. I use mainly for small production like weddings and short films. I have a boom pole as well as top mount for my canon GL2. Windjammer is a must for outdoor use. Highly recommend this mic if you are looking in the around 200 dollar range.

I love this microphone. The sound quality is outstanding, it's compact, and even comes with its own shock-mount and wind screen. The day I got it, I took it right out of the box, put in the battery, plugged it in and it sounded great. It is so simple to use and provides such high quality audio.
