Have just begun to use the microphone. It is very sensitive and does a good job for us. We also purchased a MKE 400 Sennheiser Mic and a XLRPRO Universal Dual Input Audio Adapter to integrate the two mics with our two camcorders. Both mics enhance the auido over the built-in camcorder mics. We are making educational videos in medical exam rooms. The only issue, which may be the mic or may be the audio adapter is a noticeable hiss in the background. This occurs when we are using the mics separately too. We are trying to figure out how to eliminate this from the backgroud. Overall, we are pleased with the purchases. ... More

Works great with the Panasonic DVX100B I own and will attach easily with the included shockmount. Great sound for making low budget films. Probably one of the best mics at the $150 to $300 range according to the research I did prior to purchasing. Real easy to use and hookup. Takes one AAA battery which is said to get 1000 (yes one thousand) hours of battery life. For the price it is just great.

I have used this product shooting weddings and also for voice-over in television commercials. Sound is clear and has goood rejection of background noise. The battery lasts forever and the on/off switch is a plus. The low cut filter really is good in noisy environments. Have used in the Rode blimp and boom pole as well. Construction is solid. I've owned it for about four years.

I was very pleased with this purchase, the sound and quality combined with the PRICE is world class. The connector and extra rubberbands make this mic one of the best in the market. Its so easy to use a child could do it and I would suggest any filmmaker or event videographer to purchase atleast two of these for your collection.

This is much more than I expected for he money. It is a supercardioid mic, meaning it is very directional and rejects off axis sounds well. The low cut is very useful in windy situations or situations where there is a lot of background noise. I recommend the Rycote softie wind screen. I used this for a voice over on a television commercial and the sound is natural. Will buy a couple more for my other cams.

I use the mic on a xha1 and it works great. The low frequency cut off is a must and this mic comes with a lot of feautures for it's modest price. The shockmount seems very sturdy and it even comes with extra rubber for it.

I use it with my Canon GL-2. The sound quality is much better than the on-camera mic. The low cut is really good to cut out unwanted low frequency noise. no cons.

This is an excellent shotgun mic for the money. Its' a good on camera mic for my Z1, and is useful on a boom when the low pass filter is utilized.

This mic gives you great sounding, professional audio. The onboard mic is only good if the subject is right in front of it in a quiet room, This shotgun not only makes the camera more professional looking but relieves you from having to put wireless lavs on people. For the price it is a really good buy.

I love this mic. It's not too big to just mount on the camera when needed or even as a handheld in a pinch. Plus, it seems quite rugged and well made. It greatly reduces unwanted ambient noise. It comes with a fine shockmount. I wish it also came with a short adapter, as some camera external mic jacks are 3.5mm.

I use this mic to record interviews, web shows, etc. Works great and I've had no problems with it. The pickup is so good I had to turn the mic level almost all the way down. I would def. buy another one if I needed it.

Yes this mic. is better /much/than audio technika /60$/.But you can expect it it is one class higher. But has ugly and loud noise when switched on low cut filter.I really do not know because just start to play with recording sound.Azden company did not answer me my Question,so I do not expect some great customer service in the case some problems.I'm using it off camcoder /canon HV20/.Mic do not have indicator on/off -not big deal but will be nice.I consider also Rode ,but seems me too bulky.Maybe I expect more that almost $200 mic. is able, but I'm not so much happy with.Construction seems good, also shock absorber seems will last some time. ... Great shotgun mic for the money. Sound is full, pickup is great. Requires a good amount of audio mixing and sweetening skill in order to get a beautiful sound. The SGM-1X is probably too large for mounting on most samll handheld camcorders. Perfect for bigger cams (HDR-FX1, XL2, XLH1, XHG1, etc.) Great for use on boom pole. I would definitely buy one again. The only con is the lack of support of Phantom Power.

I am a reality show producer/director and when filming in most places that are very noisy, this mic does the best job for the money. No problem with side noise or ambient noise getting in. When dialog is a must this one definately does the job. I did not buy the cable but you will need one. Battery life is great as well. like the location of the On/Off switch. Have used the SGM-X and found this one to be much better for just a little bit more.

. . . . independent audio channel control is generally required with these microphones, to produce reliable & consistent broadcast quality audio. Contrary to the disappointed i will firmly argue in favour of theses microphones stating: they are only as good as the individual using them? Now there is a huge question. Twelve were purchased a long time ago and used & even abused, without undue breakdowns. Battery life is good. Phantom power varies on the unit. No ineloquent surprises.

This is a great Mic! I use it for everything, from 48hr film contests, to my friend's wedding, to documentaries. I mount it on my XL1 and works amazing with the xlr connectors. Over the weekend I was in Sarasota FL, I decided to shoot some video with my old consumer camera, dcr-h65. I used the shock mount and plugged the sgm 1x with a mini jack adapter and the sound I got was amazing! Even with a small camcorder, it gives you a lot of credibility.

The audio comes in well and works with my DXA-2T Compact Dual XLR Adapter and HF R21 Canon Camcorder. I like the low frequency feature to minimize air conditioning noise. A versatile product for direct or ambient audio capture. The only product flaw that I would say is the ON/OFF button is right where the mic holder slides. The holder sometimes slides the mic into the ON position, draining it of it's battery.

So I got this to fill a wide range of possible situations that I may find myself in while in the field. And, after I took this to a wedding that was windy as heck and had a DJ blasting music I did not think I would get any usable audio, but I was dead wrong. This thing got cleaner audio then my lav mic in a closed set! It is great, highly recommended guys!

Well this is the first shotgun mic that we have ever had and we are using it on our sony z1u. We purchased the mic and without even testing it went on a trip to Moab, UT to film rock crawling buggies driving the trails. It was super easy easy to set up and sounded great...made my video 100 times better!

I use the mic to record a podium from about 20 feet away. The sweet spot is probably only about 10 feet away but at 20 feet it still works good. I use it with a USB preamp and both have worked well so far.
