I use my Canon XA10 to shoot 2nd unit for tv series and web stuff. This camera can also accept lavs when needed, but I wanted a better mike than the built in cam mike to pick up nat sot and quick sound bites on the run. While it may not have the very best quality sound, it's fine for what I need and is the perfect size for this camcorder. A larger one would be too bulky for my uses.

I opted for this mic because it is phantom powered and fits the bill for my Canon XF-100A (when using the supplied o-rings). I have a longer shotgun mic (also Audio Technia) but this one, because it is shorter fits better, stays out of the frame, and is nice because it doesn't use independent batteries. Haven't had a chance for an in-depth sound quality comparison so I'll have to the review there.

I read many reviews for video microphones and finally settled on the Audio-Technica AT875. I am glad I did. It worked perfectly with my Canon XA10 from day one. It does a very good job of picking up distant on axis sound and rejecting most of the sound on the side. Overall, the sound is balanced. Not too high or too low. Very impressed for the money.

This short shotgun mic is perfect if you are needing a boost in audio. I use this combined with the tascam dr-40 and plural eyes for my dslr audio. I use it indoors and out for dialog and other audio needs. It is narrow enough of a pick up pattern so when boomed captures great dialog. The build quality is great and of course it requires phantom power.

This well made beauty is a best value for budget filmmakers. I use it with the Panasonic DVC80 mini DV cam to improve audio over on-board mic. I'm not sure why people are paying more for less. I'd rather save the extra money for production!

I use this mic hooked up to a Zoom H5. It's a lot smaller and lighter than I expected which is great. I have little to compare it to, but the sound is nice and rich. I found that the source has to be directly in front of the lic to get good reception from it. It really has to be pointed right at the subject's mouth. I did some tests to see where I can hold it, and dead on yielded the best results.

I purchased this mic to use with my Panasonic HMC-150. It fits the shock-mount perfectly. I shoot mostly weddings and this will be great for capturing the natural environment sound of the ceremony without getting the sounds that come from changing settings on the camera while recording like the on-board mic does.

Is this the tippy top of the line mic that's out there...no. Do I get significantly improved audio in this mic, compared to say a RODE on camera mic...yes. I love the RODE NTG2 and NTG1, but I have had some of the other DSLR mics and have found the audio to be lacking on those. This has helped a ton in my video production. Frequently I have mounted on camera, but it also works well on a boom pole.

Haven't used it much but so far it seems to work well. Blocks some wind and has better range than my internal. Be sure to buy the xlr cables as well. I assumed they were together, but they weren't. Just a heads up

The Audio Technica AT-875 is a useful, affordable shotgun mic - on-camera and off camera. For those who are not aware, it does require phantom power (the AT-875 has no battery cavity). I knew this when I got it, and since the camcorders and XLR adapters I use can provide phantom power, I did not have any issues. It sounds great under a wide variety of conditions.

I use this mic for boom recording, and it sounds great. Works well outdoors (when it is not very windy), as well in indoors. The XLR cable that comes in the kit is meant for direct to camera (1.5feet long). The shock mount works works great on a rig as well!

I was skeptical on spending more $$ after already purchasing an expensive video camera, but the sound is so much richer and fuller with less background noise. I don't ever want to use the stock microphone again. Great mic! Only thing is that I think for the price it should have included a small 4 xlr cord.

I bought two of these and mounted them in a movie set. Worked great, attached to and powered by my TASCAM recorder. Great results.

I've been using a pair of these for 3 weddings a week, 9 months of the year for about 10 years. Wonderful for getting reception guest interviews with loud dj or band playing. One mic had little Phillip screws fall out about 6 years in. I replaced them with eyeglass screws and it's good as new.

Amazingly compact and amazing sounding. Very powerful little mic that isolates the sound fantastically. On par with my other much more expensive and longer shotguns. Great for use in echoey, bouncy rooms. Worth every penny.

I bought the AT875 for use as an on-camera mic. The mic is very ergonomic in terms of length and weight. I bought it with the hope that it would do a better job of screening out side noise and camera noise than my AT825 Stereo Mic. In comparing the two mics on my HVX-200, it became readily apparent that the AT875 was much noisier and picked up extraneous sounds that were either muted or barely distinguishable on the AT825.

This is a great on-camera shotgun mic. It is rugged, fairly stumpy and picks up great reference audio. During some interviews the camera mic will sound so good that it is almost mistaken for the properly mic'd audio. The build doesn't feel cheap, it is all metal and very rugged. Fits well within our C300 workflow.

This is my favorite of every mic I've ever purchased. It's perfect for on-camera use. Sometimes I think the audio sounds better than a lav. In certain situations it's hard to tell the difference.

This is a great little mic for run and gun shooting. It's small size makes it indiscreet but it has some great pickup. I've been using it for on location video shoots, as well as stage performance pickup.
