This is a very good, cost effective microphone. Works well to isolate audio from video subject.

I wanted a short mic to mount on my C300 Mark II in so that the boom mic doesn't stick out so much. I realize it's not a fair comparison but I compared it to my longer Sanken boom mic and decided it's not worth keeping. I thought having an inexpensive short mic would allow me to get B-roll sound on the go, but I know I'll resent the lower quality sound. Not worth using. I'll just stick with the Sunken until the longer mic drives me crazy and then buy a quality short boom.

This seems like a really nice microphone, but it requires phantom power. I bought it to use with Canon XA10 upon recommendation from B+H website not realizing that it requires a separate power source(not AA batteries). I can use it attached directly to the camera, but I can't use it wirelessly without an additional power pack that I had not anticipated purchasing. Most of what I do requires the mic to be wireless. I guess I should read a little closer next time.

I bought this mic to use with my Canon XA10 camera because it was smaller. I have filmed one project with this mic and it ruined my project. The ambient noise it picks up is terrible. I was about 20 feet from the subject and you could barely hear her for all the background noise. I normally use a Audio-Technica AT897 mic and it works great however it is very long and is hard to use with such a small camera. I will be returning this mic and spending the money to get something that works.
