I used this in a recent trip to the windy city of Rocky Point in Mexico. It captured wonderful audio in windy situations, a better wind screen would be useful, I would recommend buying one. Overall this is a great mic for the price! I would buy this over and over again. Nothing can beat this for the price!!!

The shotgun mic gives very good, crisp clean audio. It only pics up the sound that is in front of it, So when your holding the camera from behind, if you speak your voice is extremely low. Pretty good at not picking up your footsteps. Def not to be used if your walking around with your camera, and talking about what your shooting!

I have put my money where my mouth is, and just purchased a second AT875 for my other DVX100B. I expect this microphone will be passed on to the next camera, as they are well built, look and sound great, and are a nice small 7 size. These mics are perfect for mounting on the cam,but can be used at a podium with excellent results. The best bang for the buck. I cannot imagine why budget filmmakers would look anywhere else.

In my opinion best shotgun microphone I worked with. Sharp sound! I owe a NTG 1 which I paid almos twice the price which catches the the sound of the subject and also the background sound. This makes it sometimes almost unusable audio. With the AT875R you catch the sound you want. I use it on my BMPC run & gun. The detail sound i record separately with my camera then edit all together and BANG!!

I bought this mic for the Sony XDCam PMW100. It is a small camera so I had to get a short shotgun. I did not want its end to somehow get into the frame when filming It does the job really well. Not only natsound is great, one day shooting a presser the mult box failed and I had to rely on what the shotgun had recorded...and it was useful, not great, but good enough for my editors. Price is good if you are buying a lot of gear which is what we are always doing, us, VJs.

Only tested/used as an on camera mic for my FS7 - haven't tried it for interviews against my trusty old 416. This is a nice, short shotgun with low noise and a very crisp sound signature. For the price? Fantastic. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was priced much higher but it probably wouldn't have been on my radar if it was $400+. I was looking for a low cost, good performing on-camera mic for the occasional times when I need one and this one checked all the boxes.

I haven't put it to hard use yet. I have only done some testing. Nice size, small, light, compact. It does seem to pick up a lot of camera handling noise, however it seems mostly when it occurs around the camera top handle. It has pretty good volume. I would prefer it to fit a little tighter in the camera mic holder. With the 2 rubber o-rings it fits, but seems just a little loose, not enough that it could come off.

My only problem with the Mic is the mounting. The nice secure mount that came with the camera does not fit in my camera bag because it projects out at 45 degrees and requires a screwdriver for mounting. Not fun in a busy venue. The cold shoe shock mount that came with the mic is overkill at 3 times the diameter of the mic. Doesnt fit in my current bag, either. The boom mount that has the smallest profile, doesnt attach to the camera. I machined down the boom receiver so it would fit into the cold shoe base (picture below). Would be nice if it were available like that. ... More

This is a great mic and fair priced for my needs. The Sony FS7 lacks a factory mic and the ones I used from our FS700 needed an upgrade, so this was it. Its a great size when all you need is a short condenser shotgun mic. Personally I feel there are better mics out there but not in this price range, for the money its spot on.

This mic, along with a juicedLink pre-amp, has improved audio quality 100% over the built-in camera mic or the unbalanced shotgun I was using. It's small size is great for documentary work, mounting on camera. It's light weight makes it easy to work from a boom pole, but it's technical specs are right up there with longer and more expensive products.

This is a great little microphone I use mounted on my eng style camera. It's shorter than most shotgun microphones so very low profile and could even work mounted on dslr cameras. The sound quality is excellent. Good for MOTS style interviews and event recording. Great directional microphone at a decent price.

Microphones are always a little more expensive than you might think (because of the micro-tech inside), at least if you are an amateur like I am. But once you are over that hurdle, this little setup is a nice shotgun mic. We have it for our Canon XA40. The angle XLR cable is a nice clean way to hook it up. The shock mount is not needed for the XA40, but for putting on another mic stand or boom it would be needed.

Use: On- and off-camera applications for independent film projects; used in conjunction with Canon XL equipment, field recorder and mixer for both studio and field sessions. Pros: Very good sound quality, with great off-axis rejection. Solid performance at a remarkably low price. I plan on getting another for matched multi-channel studio work. Cons: Phantom power only (not a constraint for my needs).

* Great sound at a reasonable price! * Phantom works down to 11V. So, you can use the 12V phantom power setting on the juicedLink and significantly extend battery life, compared to a mic which requires 48V. * Extremely compact ... under 7 * Extermely lightweight ... easy to boom * Balanced XLR output, for superior electromagnetic interference immunity. This works from phantom power ONLY. Thus, it requires that the device that you plug it into PROVIDES PHANTOM POWER. Love this mic

I bought it for my Panasonic AG-AC130. It sounds much better than Panasonic's shotgun and it's cheaper. Just adjust the audio gain on your camera to -40db (which is set to -50db by defult) and you are set.

I have a TASCAM, and the dynamic mics just don't play well with it. There's a hiss and hum that requires a lot of playing on the back end to correct. This mic is clear and lovely with the gain turned down, so there's none of that. Plus it handles plosives much better and has such sweet clarity of sound. We love it.

I use my Canon XA10 to shoot 2nd unit for tv series and web stuff. This camera can also accept lavs when needed, but I wanted a better mike than the built in cam mike to pick up nat sot and quick sound bites on the run. While it may not have the very best quality sound, it's fine for what I need and is the perfect size for this camcorder. A larger one would be too bulky for my uses.

I use this mic hooked up to a Zoom H5. It's a lot smaller and lighter than I expected which is great. I have little to compare it to, but the sound is nice and rich. I found that the source has to be directly in front of the lic to get good reception from it. It really has to be pointed right at the subject's mouth. I did some tests to see where I can hold it, and dead on yielded the best results.

I use this produce as an audio ecologist; collecting sound and soundscapes for preservation and art. This mic is great for first time buyers; I had another one that used a 1/4 jack, but going with the XLR connection really does make all of the difference. I haven't found anything bad yet; so far so good!

I shoot a lot of documentary sytle events witht he Canon C300, and up until the AT875 I'd been using a Sennheiser 416 ($ mic). This mic is much shorter and lighter, and honestly I think it sounds a bit better. Probably the best bang for the buck I've ever spent on any piece of film gear! Five Stars!
