Good, But Not Perfect
I've had this camera now for five weeks and continue to get better at using it. Like many DSLR cameras, it is not the perfect camera and it is a trade off between what's good and what's not. Must-have for Wedding Videographers
I've been so happy with my a7s! No other camera compares to it's low-light capabilities which is absolutely a must-have for wedding videographers like me. A helpful tip: Make sure to change your lens Comp. setting to auto before attaching your lens (especially Zeiss users). The wobble distortion goes away and it makes all the difference!

Just changed from canon 5d mark ii because i was shooting more video than before and have no complains about this sony a7s. Even though im keeping my canon for stills my sony is now the go to camera for video. glad i made the chice.

Best camera Ive used- Worst service I've ever experienced.
Im a video guy and I love using DSLR and Mirrorless cams when i travel so I don't get excess attention when filming, I also shoot corporate/ interview. and events. I tend to shoot at night/ dark environments and have come from the world of Canon cameras. Great Camera with a few exceptions.
I love this camera, the low light is phenomenal and the picture quality is great as well, but there are a few negatives. - Lens support, there are no f/2.8 FE zoom lens' and you need a $$ adaptor to use canon, which doesn't work very well.- Confusing menu layout, some functions don't work in different modes. Finally a silent FF...
If you are a videographer, do not bother to read this review. I would gladly exchange most of top video features on this model for the phase detection AF. Silent mode was my main reason for choosing this model. I do a lot of pictures in quiet indoors environment. Virtually no video. So I cannot comment on that feature. I don't even know where to start. This is the best all-around camera I've ever owned. I shoot professional video and photography for a large corporation and freelance travel videos. The multi-interface shoe mount is a stellar invention. The XLR-KM2 is a wonderful add for run-and-gun style shooting. Almost awesome!
Overall, I'd say Sony put some amazing things in this small, attractive camera body but really missed the mark on the details in very frustrating ways. I'm a professional videographer using this as my second camera for video shoots and occasionally for an A camera. Incredible camera for VIDEO
My primary business is video. I sold all my 5D Mark iii's for three of these cameras, and it was the best move that I've made. Well, meanwhile, you all know the pros and cons of this little gem. But what you maybe don t know is that there s a massive fail on some units (a lot of them actually, might want to test your own camera) when shooting video at high ISO. Im not professional and not too advanced user but have Canon t2i and 70d with multiple lenses (Canon, Samyang, Tamron and Sigma), the preferred ones are Canon 24-70 f2.8 II and 70-200 f2.8 II that I used widely for nature and family photos and videos, but low light footage was still noisy. GREAT CAMERA FOR THE PRICE
I shoot a lot of weddings in CA and this is the camera that fits me the best. 1st reason the low light option is just amazing 2nd the sharpness of the image 3rd works great with canon glass, well a adapter is required.

Greatness but at a cost
After much anticipation, I purchased this camera in hopes of stepping up from the DSLR world to something more professional (as far as video quality goes). I purchased this mainly to use with my collection of Leica lenses, specifically indoors. For that purpose, I could not be more please with this camera. It excels in low light situations...not only producing shape, clear images with negligible noise at high ISOs, but also with exceptional dynamic range. Sony A7s Scam
Sony does not offer firmware support for the A7s outside the US. DO NOT BUY IT unless you live in the States. I bought it and I can't even BUY the time-lapse app from the Sony Playmemories site, which they will charge you a lousy 9 bucks for it! I called Sony service support and they say they are sorry, but I need to be in the US physically with the camera to be able to BUY and download their app. It so happens that I am in Brazil, and this lame ... How in the hell does this little, fits in the palm of my hand, camera do what it does? No bigger than an early 2000's point and shoot, the A7S boggles the mind when it comes to size vs capability. Not an action stills camera, but video
Own both a7 and A7s. Bought the a7s because A7 was not very good Using ISO above 1600 in lowlight conditions. Both are exactly about the same and produce excellent photos with natural lighting on non moving subjects. The focusing is slow and even worse using adapters and non sony lens. I would never buy this product again
My A7s is on it's third shutter. Are others having shutter problems? I can't believe it's only my copy. Maybe it's not meant to actually take stills?rather than video. There is no basis of comparison of the A7s to my Nikon D4s or D800. It's not comparing apples and oranges, it's comparing apples and rocks. The A7s should not be marketed as professional in competition to truly professional gear. My eyes are now opened, I see the web marketing machine for what it is and it is not pretty.
