So far, really great!
XAVC S looks great on my TV, but is not yet compatible with Final Cut X. Contacted Sony about importing and they were estonishingly unhelpful. Low light is several stops better then the a7r. Comes with two batteries. In still mode, it does not get particularly bad battery life, but in Video, it burns through a battery in about a half hour... Dynamic Range is extremely good. Silent shutter is, Silent. No really, it is Silent.

So far, so good
Received this today and immediately put it to action. First impressions, small. It goes without saying and if you just read the specs, but this camera is size of a big point and shoot (remember those?). Smaller than the 5D MIII, almost TOO small. I got the Sony battery grip which helps, but with an adapter (metabones speed booster) and lens on it, it becomes very front heavy. I'll be looking for a cage or bracket that fits with the battery grip f... Show More

Love it!
So far, this camera is amazing! I don't have many full frame lens options so I've also used this with my e-mount crop sensor lenses. It seems to do a decent job with those lenses as well. For video the main disappointment is that when you are using the camera with the 120fps option it crops the image down(to crop sensor mode), as well as only doing it in 720. For photos it is definitely a little bit of a challenge working with just 12mp. But you can't beat the low light sensitivity so I'm still stoked on what I have!

Awesme camera
i use this camera for low light situations (what it was intended for) its absolutely amazing and since it was good at low light, ment it was good for some fast shutter speeds. check out some of the pictures on my sight

Best DSLR for video that I've used.
I've been using the canon 5D's (Mark 2 and 3) for the past 4 years and recently switched to the a7s. I'm blown away by the video capabilities of this camera. The dynamic range is superb, low light is better than anything I've ever seen, the internal compression is great (XAVC), being able to shoot both full frame and aps-c in 1080 make all of my lenses more versatile, and frame rates up to 120fps makes this a killer camera. The only downside is the rolling shutter in full frame mode, but if you have IS lenses or shoot on a tripod it's a non-issue.

A7s is it is a keeper
So far I am really impressed with this tiny camera. It will mix with my FS700 and C100 very well, and it probably spells the end of using my 5DmkII for video, I will keep it and my 7D for stills though. I am working on a sensible kit for it. I have the remote and it works well. I really like the EVF, so the trick is to make a kit that takes advantage of the EVF and still can house the O7Q or the Shogun (on order), I have also heard rumors of much... Show More

Amazing camera
I have both the a7r and the a7s. I shoot time lapse and mini documentaries. I use a Dynamic Perception motion control system for the time lapse. The a7r and the a7s are both fantastic tools for specific tasks. The a7r is a fantastic still photo platform that shoots great video. The a7s is a fantastic video camera that shoots great stills. They are small, lightweight and packed with technology. I can carry half as much gear because everything work... Show More

Worth every penny
I can only echo what everyone else has already commented about. It's a great camera overall. I think the ergonomics are very comfortable overall. I traded in my canon t2i which ended up saving me about $ on the A7s. I use this primarily for video. No need to buy the expensive Metabones adapter ( have one for my FS100). I just purchases a $ adapter on @ which powers the lens and control most of the functions including EXIF data. I would have gone with the GH4, but Micro Four Thirds is a deal killer for me. Battery life is horrible when shooting video. Less and an hour.

The best camera that I have ever used!
This is the best camera that I have ever used! I am completely satisfied with it in every single way. I have owned the 5DM2, BMCC, BMPCC, GH3, GH4, and have to say that none of those can compare to the A7S. I had purchased 3 GH4's for my business thinking that it would be the best camera for me, but I quickly realized after using the A7S that I was wrong. I quickly returned them and purchased A7S cameras instead and am very glad I did. This one is a keeper.

Best investment so far!!!
I have had this body since before it came out. I had to wait a while do to the fact that I did not have any lenses for it but I have been using a 28-70 telephoto for now and it still has an amazing quality. From using the FS 100/700 at school, this small camera blows them both out the water. I have used it at a local video shop for display for others to see and every one is amazed by its abilities. I use it over my schools expensive film equipment and have yet to receive less than an A! Iihave yet

Another Superb Member of the Series
Although I have just started using this body, it clearly builds on the excellence of the Alpha 7 R for its own niche uses, including video and superb optical quality in very low light situations.

Holy S
a revolutionary breakthrough for photographers AND film makers. I got this sweet little camera when it came out and have been shooting for a month now, and I am floored at how much I like it. Being a canon guy, I never thought the day would come when I would want to jump ship, but this camera is INSANE. The quality rivals probably every canon camera and for sure rivals the fs700. I can't believe the color, sharpness and how fun it is to shoot. AN... Show More

A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing!
This camera is a raging BEAST! Sony took a 747 jet engine (12mp monster sensor) and installed it into a small Toyota Corolla body! It's such an odd and ironic match up.The camera does not look impressive on the outside. However, once you browse into the configuration setup and see all the incredible features Sony placed there,..you will be extremely impressed. The low light performance is second to none. It truly is remarkable and that is certainl... Show More

Like an old sports car that delivers
If you ever had the chance to ozzoz down into the bucket seats of a classic 60s sports car you know the feeling you get from the mirror less Sony digital cameras. The speed is there and the quality is as good as any of the top brandsin fact because it is full frame it has an edge over many in its category. To over-ride any of the auto features is a breeze. And setting the functions up through the menues a snap. My work is general so I need a came... Show More

Great Camera
Great camera, overall. I'm primarily using this camera for film, but love taking stills with it. It takes wonderful stills, so don't let a 12.2 megapixel camera fool you. The wide shots are amazing and the video quality is wonderful. The only problem I encountered was the file format. The XAVC S codec it shoots in wraps its files into MP4s. These files are extremely difficult to import into all major film editing softwares, so you'll need to find... Show More

Amazing!
There are many reviews out there about the A7s so I'll just say it is everything it needs to be. I'm definitely excited about the 4k output once the Shogun is here. At that point I think this camera will be hard to beat. There are some quirks: form factor, soccer mom picture profiles...but that's a small price to pay for such a powerful machine. I'd buy it again in a flash.

S For Swag
By far, the best Mirrorless I have ever used. Image quality is stunningly beautiful, sharp and vibrant. Noise handling is top-notch. Beats my Canon 5D mk3 and the Nikon D800e at high ISO settings. Will definitely recommend this!

First Pro Level Mirrorless Camera
OK, first I use this camera for people, weddings, and stuff like this and don't do video. I routinely used the Small Raw feature on my 5D3 for this so a 12mp file size is perfect. It took some huevos and vision for Sony to do this but, for it's intended use, 12mp is perfect. Criticizing this camera for such low resolution is like bagging on a great two-iron because it can't drive a golf ball 300 yards. But what really excites me is that, with the... Show More

Simply Incredible
This camera will blow your socks off. Yeah yeah yeah the whole 12 megapixels thing. Understandably photographers may turn the other cheek, but for me as a filmmaker this camera is REVOLUTIONARY. Shooting in pitch dark with little to NO NOISE. NeatVideo plugin works fantastic with any footage that might have a little noise. But at 56,000 iso this camera flourishes. Picture profiles for days. Hmmm....
I am a 30+ year video professional. Like many others I jumped on the DSLR bandwagon due to the small size and filmic looks from full frame sensors. I have extensive use with Canon MkII, MkIII, 6D and 60D. While I loved much of the footage I shot with the Canon systems, I always wanted more dynamic range, a better codec and professional video features. I'm not complaining because in truth these cameras were designed as still cameras with some vide... Show More

Sharp
Coming from a DSLR setup for video, the HD footage from this camera is SHARP and a huge step forward. The lights sensitivity is well documented, besides that selling point, the Slog2 picture profile option is fantastic. Be sure to over expose to get the best results, when you do that and set the white balance correctly, you will get very impressive results.

Very Impressed
I got the a7s as a replacement for my fs100. I'm very impressed in the low light ability. I am using it with an ef-emount metabones adapter. all my canon glass works great with the full frame sensor. The ability to punch in to aps-c mode is great when you need that extra range. Along with the GH4, the a7s is becoming a dual A cam setup. I'm able to interchange them based on each strength. Only 4 star because of battery life, no internal 4K and lack of native lens options. other than that, great camera!
