Insanely good

May 7, 2013

This is a superb optic for the M4/3 format -- the best lens available, easily... I have the 12/2 (which is excellent in its own right) but this raises the bar so much higher. Ridiculously sharp. I was on the fence about dropping the cash for this (considering it's about the cost of the OM-D itself), but after my first day shooting with it, it was a no-brainer... 150mm-equiv. is a tough focal length for me (I'm more of a 24-50mm shooter), but when... sharp as a tack

This lens is comparable to my old 180 f2.8 Nikkor, BUT it is f 1.8. AND it may even be sharper than the Nikkor. With the focus peeking on the OM-D EM-5, this is amazing for low-light photography of all sorts, even some portrait work.

Best lens I own

Apr 9, 2013

I've never had a prime lens that factors out to 150mm. Frankly, its a little too close for me and I need to get used to it, which I am starting to do. I have to say that this lens creates the most amazing images. sharp focus, beautiful bokeh when you shoot wide open. There's a warmth and quality to the images produced by such a great quality lens that I wish i could afford an entire arsenal of these types.I'm looking forward to shooting some rock... Show More

Scary good

Extremely sharp detail, almost like a telephoto macro lens. Very solid. Indoors or close up wide open handheld getting the shot can be a challenge with the focal plane so shallow, but the results are superb. Of course, on a GH3, it's not going in your shirt pocket.

What a great Lens!

Mar 5, 2013

I am pleased to submit a review of the Olympus 75mm f1.8 lens for the Micro Four-Thirds format. This lens is a keeper in every way 'cept one (maybe). My current camera is a Panasonic GH2. Good camera but the 14 -140mm zoom is a little soft. So I thought I'd give the Oly 75mm a try. WOW! What a difference! Side-by-side comparison made me cry. The Oly 75mm is fantastic. Definition and contrast to die for. But There is a large disconnect between Pana... Show More

Love it

I have the E-M5 and this lens is a little top heavy for the camera, but I got the grip and the hold feels better in my hands now. The weight doesn't bother me (I use a Canon 7D /grip & a 70-200 2.8 IS II, so the weight of this lens is nothing compared to my Canon). It has a substantial feel (not like a piece of plastic) and I get wonderful photos in my high school gym. I just have to get used to using smaller camera/lens compared to my Canon. I got this for Christmas so I'm still trying to figure out this system. I'm happy with what I got.

Stellar!

All the reviews are correct, this lens is fantastic. I have several excellent pieces of glass between my nikon and olympus kits but I would have to say this one tops them all for both build quality and image quality. A keeper for sure.

Expensive but Leica quality

Dec 27, 2012

I am a photojournalist and in over 30 years I have owned a lot of lenses and brands, like Hasselblads, Nikons and Leicas, but this lens along with the EM5 is amazing. Cannot be any better at f1.8 period, I thought the 45 1.8 was awesome and this is better. I have been using it for some news shots, some hockey games and candid portraits, mostly wide open with great results. I will never sell this lens. I do use either a handle or an old Nikon moto... Terrific optics for the right task

Dec 19, 2012

Looking to upgrade the quality of my telephoto images, I decided to try the M.Zuiko 75mm on my Panasonic GH2. My goal was to compare absolute image quality (at an equivalent focal length) with my 14-140mm Panasonic Zoom. Although the zoom is all-purpose in terms of focal length, I felt that the quality could be better at longer focal lengths. Of course anyone will tell you that a prime lens will always outperform a zoom. Too much glass, too many ... Show More

Worth every penny

Dec 9, 2012

There's been a lot of outright gushing about this lens, does it live up to the hype? Let's find out. BUILD QUALITY: All metal construction, smooth, well damped focus ring. Looks intimidating, proportionately speaking, it looks like the 85L on a Rebel! No distance meter - 9/10 FOCUS SPEED AND ACCURACY: Insanely quick, and pretty darn accurate! The OM-D its mated to, doesn't always have the most accurate focus, regardless of lens. The focus squares... Show More

My GOTO lens

Nov 26, 2012

I use this mostly as a portrait, and shooting about town lens. I brought this and my Leica f1.8 25mm lens to a low light dinner party, and used this lens almost exclusively. Very clear, fast focusing and good aperture and lovelt bokeh. THe only downside, is it's weight. But with the 2 part battery pack, it's very easy to handle, however still pretty heavy. Most of the time, I go between this and the 25mm.

I've been shooting for over 60 years and this lens is one of it not tbe finest piece of glass ever! Razor sharp with wonderful bokeh
