I bought these after deciding between xm4 and xm5. The only feature I needed was ANC and it works great! I use them indoors, I don’t know how well they work outside in street noise. They’re very light, they charge quickly and last a long time as long as you don’t keep much distance between the headphones and the music device. They block out both low and high pitches sounds but you need to adjust the volume if using them in a loud environment. Sound quality is not bad.

Very comfortable to wear for long periods even when wearing glasses. Sound quality is good and when in noise cancelling mode, only excessively loud noises can be heard. They don't fold as small as some other makes and the hard case is quite bulky, which may be a downside for frequent travellers with limited luggage space.

Have 2 other Bose Noise-Cancelling headphones over the years and I always felt somewhat disappointed in the quality of the noise cancelling, but figured this is what it is. Now I know differently. These Sony headphones literally shut down nearly all the noise where I can't hear anyone talking to me and priced reasonably, unlike the Bose or Apple headphones.

after being disappointed with amazon and these headphones arriving damaged i decided i’ll just go pick a pair up from Argos. as soon as i unboxed them i knew they are going to be good the packing feels so luxurious. i use them for uni and commuting as soon as i put them on in the bus the nearby sound jusy drowns. since i got these i relaised i don’t need to crank the volume to max as the noice cancelling means you need less volume. they look and feel so stylish i recommend !

I bought this headphones and ended returned. The reason for that is because no one could hear me by speaker and I sound is not really great. The noise cancelling is perfect. However, if I want to buy a good noise cancellation headphones only I would prefer the construction ones works same and much cheaper. The Bluetooth connection is really challenging, you must download an app first and set up everything. So overall my 3 starts goes only for the good cancelling noises.

I bought these headphones to make calls on Microsoft Teams whilst working from home. However, the sound quality on calls is very poor. I could hardly hear the other person and they had difficulty understanding me. However, if you just use them for listening to music they are fantastic, very good sound quality and outstanding noise cancellation. I returned them on the same day because of the calls issue.

I had the XM3s, which was 2018. This XM4s they added a few perks like better bluetooth and speak to chat mode, wherein you can adjust it from 15s to a minute before your music can restart again. They added multiple pairing and the sound quality is still superb and you can customise it using their presets or your own. The ANC is better from the XM3s and there is adjustment as well. Also there is that sensor with which pauses the music when you take the cans off.

I owned a pair of Bose QC35 before this and loved them for the three years that they were in constant usage. However the sound quality & noise cancelling found on these is a huge step up in comparison. I was initially skeptical that the comfort wouldn't be as good, but I was also pleasantly surprised in this area. Very low pressure is put on the head and ears, and ventilation is good enough to wear these for 8 hours or more in one sitting, perfect for long flights or a full day in the office.

I read lots of reviews about these headphones and several other major brands. Price was a consideration, but not everything. I really needed quality noise canceling headphones for use around my very noisy family. They work so well that if my family want to talk to me they tap me on the shoulder to get my attention. The audio quality of music also seems rich and superb. I am very happy with my choice of these Sony top quality headphones. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Comfortable to wear with soft pads and really easy to use. The adaptive sound control is superb! I can easily hear train station announcements while listenibg to my favorite playlist. It can also detect where and what I'm doing so as to adjust how much ambient sound it needs to let it. I really love the speak-to-chat feature which stops the music the moment I talk. Saves me from removing my headset for a quick conversation.

The clarity of sound and bass made me re-listen to all my favourite tracks again to re-discover them. It ticks all the boxes in terms of what you really looking for in active NC headphones. However, the reason I gave them a 4-star review is that it does a poor job leaking sound which will be quite inconvenient to the person sitting next to you on a train or bus. I'm always conscious about the people around me making sure I do as minimal disruptions as possible, otherwise, it's almost perfect.

If you intend to make phone calls through these headphones, you will have to make the call in a perfectly quiet environment. If there is a wind or any other environmental noise, your counterparty will not be able to hear you speak. An hour with Sony tech support (most of it on hold) included a reset the headphones. Didn't help. Music sounds great, but that phone calls are terrible. They are not a replacement for the Bose QC-25. You have been warned!

Had the previous WH-1000XM3 for some time and was really pleased with the performance. It is easily the best noise cancelling head set you can get. Then Sony release an updated version WH-1000XM4........ Some subtle changes to the dynamics, that are improvement's to an already great sound. Is it worth the money.......... yes. You could go for the WH-1000XM3 that have come down in price (below £200) and you would not be disappointed.

I was skeptical of noise cancelling headphones but I have to say, these headphones rock. When noise cancelling is on, I can't hear anything other than what's in the phones. If my neighbor starts pumping music and I put these on, I can barely, and I mean barely, hear any of it. The Bluetooth works like a charm with any of my computers, tablets, Apple TV, etc. Always connects and never has issues.

A little expensive, but you get what you pay for. These are very comfortable for long listening sessions. The sound quality is excellent and is even better using an equalizer. I use these with my PC and use Equalizer APO and the PEACE interface (both Open Source) for the headphones and my speakers. It makes the listening experience even better. These headphones are plenty loud, and can handle Bass and Treble adequately.

I had WH-1000XM3, but accidentally broke it, so I replaced it with XM4. Look and feel is same, but few new changes in the software. Example, you can have multiple bluetooth devices connectivity. Noise cancellation is really the best. In XM4, I noticed white noise in noise cancellation mode, which you quickly get used to. Overall very happy with the product. B&H is the best place it to shop. Product advise and pricing is always the best.

Outstanding headphones. I have the lower priced Sony WH CHOONs and they're very good...until you try these. Only complaint is the app is confusing and the buttons on the phones are as well. But sound quality is superb. And so is noise canceling. Everyone talks about the Bose having better comprehensive canceling, but the combination of sound quality and cancellation on these is, for me, the best option.

I'm a little bit nuts when it comes to my audio devices, used to work for GN Netcom in their research team who owns and makes the Jabra product line. The have great products as well, bit nothing in the market can touch the XM right now. I have the somewhat dated Bose 35 II and the previous Sony and a couple of Sennheiser's. None of them are a match for the Sony XM4. Once you are used with the touch interface you will love these little puppies.

I purchased (and returned) these 03-2021. When connected to my 2020 Samsung Smart TV (and sitting 6 feet in front of the TV) they glitched a few times per minute. I re-tested multiple times along with my Bose QC35 and JBL Bluetooth Headphones. Both the Bose QC35 and JBL Headphones worked flawlessly yet the Sony WH-1000XM4 constantly glitched. Perhaps my pair were defective or perhaps it is a design flaw because when connected to my iPhone they performed better. They were fully charged at the time of testing.

My first pair of noise canceling headphones and after lots of reviews and Youtube videos I took the plunge. They are so much better than I expected, they cut out lots of noise and allow you to listen to music and films on Flights and Trains at just half volume, while cutting out all of the background noise - they really are that good! Download the Sony Headphones app and change the settings to your preference and they are outstanding !
