I'm a voiceover artist and for years have used these headphones in every major recording studio I've worked in. They are super comfortable. There is no noise leakage, so when you are doing a voiceover via phone patch, or ISDN, your mic won't pic up the director's voice. The sound is very clean and not colored. Nice high end, and the bottom end is tight. You don't need to crank the volume up with these up, either. Highly recommended for voiceover professionals and others who desire pristine quality sound, in a very well made package. Ive also used these to watch a movie on my laptop-there's a mini plug included, just unscrew the phono plug. Very nice headphones.... ... More

Clear and realistic sound reproduction is how I summarize my review.Besides, they have a decent bass that is just natural not amplified. Speaking of sound quality, they perform quite well: precise, crisp and honest. They're also very comfortable and tightly adjust on the head. They're flexible yet feel durable.Furthermore they're compact: you can fold them inside and twist or adjust them. The long coiled cord may be a plus for some giving them more freedom and a downside for others who'd want mobility. To the minus points now, I would note two: -They collect dust easily or it may be just me! -The travel pouch is okay but could be better. ... I've had em for a few years and I haven't had a problem with em. They are very high quality, and the generate great sound. I had one pair before that broke because one of my siblings had a temper tantrum, but I hadn't had any problems until then. Despite using them for listening to metal and playing games, which can be very taxing on a pair of headphones, they haven't had any reduced sound quality or volume that I could notice. My only complaint is that the small wires on each side that provide power/ audio to the actual ear cup have a layer of insulation around them that separates from the headphones almost immediately. But, like I said, no problems with receiving audio or quality, so I can't complain too much. ... More

This Sony offering is lightweight, comfortable, covers 'my' ears and the integrated cable has a respectable reach. However, I'm not too crazy about coil cords as they invariably get tangled, and I would prefer the headband to be just a tad more cushioned for my bald head. Likewise, the isolation from background noise isn't that great for my taste. Frankly, I can't think of a more subjective and totally individualized component than a set of headphones. You can read specifications until you're blue in the face but until you try them on your head, and with your ears, you'll just have to deal with potential returns. Overall, these are more than adequate although I'll likely bump it up a notch. ... More

I think for the price these headphones are really good. The sound is clean and I feel like I can trust the accuracy of what I'm hearing. I do a lot of video and audio editing so for me, sound accuracy is really important. I could've went with semi-open headphones to get a little better quality sound but since I'll also be using these in the field I decided to go with this closed style. My only complaint so far is that the headphones aren't as comfortable as some others I've worn. I think I'll get used to them so I don't think it'll be a huge deal but it could be better in that regard. They fold down well which is nice for traveling. ... More

Every film set and post production facility keeps a ton of these around for a reason. Very neutral so you'll hear what your mix actually sounds like, but still clear and capable of impactful bass. When I saw B&H had them for $88 instead of the usual $100 I had to scoop up a pair and wasn't disappointed. Took off 1 star because they do get uncomfortable around the ears if I wear them for a full work day. But again, can't be beat for the price. Bought these mainly for my recording class, though I was needing a new pair as my old ones managed to break in half. These headphones are made from metal and plastic so hopefully that won't happen again. The folding function is nice, and the threaded 1/4 adapter is a plus. All sound frequencies are crystal clear, playing guitar through these direct from the amp gives me great sound and range. My only concern is the small wires at the folding joints, which overtime I bet will be the point of failure when I lose sound in one ear. Folding joint + small wire...hmm... Other than though this is a great pair of head phones, definitely worth the money. ... More

I'm not an audio expert, but the music out of these headphones sounds great for any type of audio. I am used to my in-ear sennheisser earphones and I found that this is a big step up for listening to music, watching movies and gaming. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind sacrificing state of the art wireless technology and ease of mobility for some good quality music. Ideal for laptops and mobiles alike.

I am an owner operator video DP that also subcontracts sound engineers, I have tried many other headsets and it always comes down to, well they are OK, but not as good as a set of MDR-7506's So then I ask, why not just get them in the first place? Sonically they are un-matched, and because they are closed you can easily isolated what you are recording from background. Anyone who is seriously recording sound owns a pair of MDR-7506's. The only compaint is the wire used in the curley cable is difficult to solder, so many times a repair becomes a replace. ... More

I was really surprised at how well this headphone sounds. Deep low end response. Clear mids and highs. They are definitely the perfect pair for audio/video editing. If you're looking for a headphone to listen to your tunes on ipod - this is not the headphone for you (most likely). However if your looking for a headphone that will reveal EVERYTHING in the mix - you can't go wrong with these. In my opinion these are head and shoulders above the Senheiser HD280 Pro both in sound quality as well as comfort.

I use these headphones both for home studio production as well as capturing live sound on set. The ear pieces give great isolation in and outdoors, and the sound is very flat and balanced which makes it easy to hear detail and fix problems in the moment. My only complaint is the the 1/8 jack is bulky and heavy, so it tends to fall out of my recorder when I'm capturing live sound. If it doesn't totally fall out, it dips from the weight and pushes on the sound card, so the audio will cut out for a second. Because of this, I prefer using these for my home studio work as monitors. ... More

I bought these for personal home use. After reading the reviews I expected to hear angels sing when I tried them. Not so much. Decent sound, uncomfortable on the ears, plastic all over. Awkward storage configuration. Makes me wonder what all the people giving these 4 or 5 stars were listening to previously. I don't usually write reviews like this. I have a set of Klipsch one and Able Planet noise cancelling headphones that sound just as good if not better.

I mainly use them with my Zoom H6 recorder for monitoring sound during video recordings. The sheepskin ear covers work well after you stretch them enough to fit. But the case provided is much too large to fit in my audio bag and so I'm not using it. In the cinema world these headphones have become the standard for both field work and studio. The major selling point of these headphones is that they deliver a very flat response. Un-like other headphone that boost the base or even out the mids, these allow the listener to hear the exact response to their editing or mixing. In my own experience as a film maker, we use these cans both in the field, dubbing theater, and in the editing room. They deliver a great quality at a great price point.
