These are very good headphones for the money. The only negative is the cord. It is obvious that the coiled cord will become easily distorted and there is no way to replace it short of dismantling the headphones and soldering in a new wire. If Sony would add a replaceable wire it would become the best set of headphones in this price bracket and that is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

After my 30-year old Sony MDR CD50's ear cushions became non existent, I decided to give these headphones a shot. 1. Great "flat" response 2. Ideal for music production with DAW 3. Good for recording vocal with their minimal leak 4. Very much affordable for anyone 5. Comfortable to wear for extended periods of time 6. Foldable and come with their own "gig bag" Overall, I strongly recommend these headphones - you will be very happy with their performance.

Every film set and post production facility keeps a ton of these around for a reason. Very neutral so you'll hear what your mix actually sounds like, but still clear and capable of impactful bass. When I saw B&H had them for $88 instead of the usual $100 I had to scoop up a pair and wasn't disappointed. Took off 1 star because they do get uncomfortable around the ears if I wear them for a full work day. But again, can't be beat for the price. This 100% what I'd recommend to anyone starting to seriously use audio for work. ... More

I first used these cans in 1993 and have owned many others since then. Having been using Bose for several years, you learn that each maker has a trademark sound. Upon wearing the Sonys once again, I was reminded of how much other brands color the sound, and at first the Sonys seem harsh by comparison, but it's actually just the pure, unvarnished sound without too much of this or that - crucial for mixing and mastering. There are times when I don't want to be sealed off from the rest of the world, yet these provide just enough noise abatement. On top of that, they are very comfortable. I can't believe how inexpensive they are. I love them! ... More

These are perfect for monitoring recording and playback both in studio and in the field. The sound is clear, has a wide dynamic range with a bright high end and a tight natural bass response, and an overall neutral colouration. I appreciate the carry case, and that they fold up nice and small. I wish the cable could be disconnected at the headphone end in case it needs to be replaced.

Im so impressed, by quality and comfort. I usually listen Spotify premium in my office during work, and with this headphones i just re-discover it again. Absolutely amazing that all that i can say. Super comfortable - after while of listening music, you simply forgot what you even wear it. Highly recommended. Also i have order delivery in Vietnam and have been received it after 10 days of place my order, what is very good delivery time.

For any field monitoring use these headphones are the way to go. I am an owner operator video DP that also subcontracts sound engineers, I have tried many other headsets and it always comes down to, well they are OK, but not as good as a set of MDR-7506's So then I ask, why not just get them in the first place? Sonically they are un-matched, and because they are closed you can easily isolated what you are recording from background. Anyone who is seriously recording sound owns a pair of MDR-7506's. The only compaint is the wire used in the curley cable is difficult to solder, so many times a repair becomes a replace. ... More

Bought these mainly for my recording class, though I was needing a new pair as my old ones managed to break in half. These headphones are made from metal and plastic so hopefully that won't happen again. The folding function is nice, and the threaded 1/4 adapter is a plus. All sound frequencies are crystal clear, playing guitar through these direct from the amp gives me great sound and range. My only concern is the small wires at the folding joints, which overtime I bet will be the point of failure when I lose sound in one ear. Folding joint + small wire...hmm... Other than though this is a great pair of head phones, definitely worth the money. ... More

I've always loved music, but never spent a lot of money on headphones. I recently decided to dive in to music production, and needed a quality set of headphones. I'm glad I listened to the many reviews and went with these. They separate the highs mids and lows better than any other headphone I've listened through. The bass isn't overwhelming, but it is clearly there making it easy to balance the mix. Many of my favorite songs have elements that I'd never heard before listening through these. If you're new to high quality headphones like me, for the price, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this headset. ... More

In the cinema world these headphones have become the standard for both field work and studio. The major selling point of these headphones is that they deliver a very flat response. Un-like other headphone that boost the base or even out the mids, these allow the listener to hear the exact response to their editing or mixing. In my own experience as a film maker, we use these cans both in the field, dubbing theater, and in the editing room. They deliver a great quality at a great price point.

For the last few years I have been using a pair of quality earbud-style headphones (Shure e2c) for practice and to monitor my recordings. Great sound, but they tend to slip out of my ears while playing, and the cord is too short. So I decided to use the Shure for my iPod, and purchased these Sony MDR-7506, taking advantage of a GC coupon. I am pleased with their comfort and sound. They can sound VERY loud without distortion, so beware! The sound reproduction is neutral and faithful, which helps finding the right sound for recording. A great pair of headphones for the price - I am going to enjoy them for years to come. ... More

I have owned a set of Sony MDR-7506 Headphones for about four years and have been fairly happy with them except for one annoying problem. The ear pads can come off and are really hard to get back on. I play guitar and I've mostly used these headphones for studio monitoring during recording sessions. I can't tell you how many times I have shown up at the studio to find an ear pad has come off and while the other guys are setting up, tuning, etc., I am fumbling around trying to get an ear pad back on the headset. ... Some people will tell you that this headphone will have a flat response. Some will tell you it sounds neutral. I'm not an audio expert, but the music out of these headphones sounds great for any type of audio. I am used to my in-ear sennheisser earphones and I found that this is a big step up for listening to music, watching movies and gaming. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind sacrificing state of the art wireless technology and ease of mobility for some good quality music. Ideal for laptops and mobiles alike.

I was coming from a 15 or 20 year old set of Sony noise canceling headphones that were worn out with years of use. The new MDR-7506 phones sound good and will do the job. I mainly use them with my Zoom H6 recorder for monitoring sound during video recordings. The sheepskin ear covers work well after you stretch them enough to fit. But the case provided is much too large to fit in my audio bag and so I'm not using it. No doubt it would protect the headphones very well but I need to minimize how much I carry for location video and this mega-case is just too large. Otherwise this should be fine for what I needed in a basic headphone setup. ... More

I use these headphones for focused music monitoring and even expanded their use to movies and computer games. After breaking them in, I am impressed with their overall quality in comfort, construction and, most importantly, sound. I find the sound to be relatively flat with no emphasis on the high or low end which is exactly what I wanted as I appreciate hearing music exactly how it was intended to be heard. I was considering a pair of high end Audio-Technica headphones but in the end settled on the MDR-7506s due to their reasonable price and recommendations from several friends. I am extremely happy with these cans and look forward to using them extensively moving forward. ... More

I am an amateur music producer and long time musician, these are the best earphones money can buy (unless you want to spend like $1000 on better ones). They have a FLAT frequency response, so don't buy them if you're into listening really loud bass (e.g. hip hop, urban), instead you'd rather throw your money away on those red earphones. Also, they do not isolate external sounds very well since they were NOT made for such a purpose, so don't expect these to work well for DJ or live performances. Bottom line: I totally recommend this item.

My previous Sony headphones were studio headphones and I was unsure how much of an upgrade these new ones would be. I use them for playing my keyboard workstation. I read the reviews and decided to make the purchase not really knowing how much of an upgrade they would be. I was shocked when I heard the presence of the keyboard in these headphones. When I hit a bass note it sounded so different and deeper. I kept playing and playing and all of my songs sounded new again. For $90 what a crazy upgrade! You have to hear it to believe it. ... More

I have used the smaller MDR-7502 indoors and outdoors for years. When it was time to replace it, I bought this MDR-7506. It sounds so much better, more accurate and is comfortable to wear. It also feels a bit sturdier and has a stronger cable which is good because I hope these fine headphones will last. I use these for video meetings, sound mixing, video recording and editing and listening to music. They are sensitive enough to be sufficiently loud when attached to the 3.5mm audio out jack of laptops and other equipment, but they really shine with a headphone amp or audio device that has a good headphone amp built in. ... I purchased these headphones because I wanted a second pair of monitor headphones for my studio. The very firt thing I noticed about these headphones is that they are very lightweight and the earcups are EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE. These are very good for recording as the earcups provide a good level of sound isolation. I use these headphones for tracking and editing songs in conjuction with my ATH M50's that I use for mixing. One thing I noticed when first listening to these headphones is that the mids sounded a little exaggerated compared to my M50's. But overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and I highly recommend these to anyone whose looking for a good pair of headphones for recording. ... More

I'm a sound engineer and a musician and I have been listening to everything I can on these headphones since 1999. Got some in college and they'd get used afew hours every day. For my ridiculous amount of wear and tear they last about 2-4 years (I think that's amazing). Whether I'm playing bass in the live room with the drummer or having to edit tracks and not bug anyone, these are the only headphones I reach for. I've probably had 5-7 pairs and love them and will keep getting them/replacing them if they break or blow up (and they take abuse pretty well), I hope Sony never discontinues or changes them. For anyone using them casually I'm sure they'd last a long time. ... More
