This is a great mic for the price. I use it for basic interviews in relatively quiet spaces (I have not used it outside or in a crowd). It suits these needs perfectly. The cable is short and you will need an extender. Haven't had it long enough to know the range of the AA battery life, but I don't see a problem there either so long as you've got a spare. The mic itself is also pretty average-sized for a lav. Overall a good purchase.

Have used these mics for years and always come back for me if a cable gets damaged in use or I need to add to my kit. Also recommend all of the time to others. Safe purchase. Sound is great and they come in a nice, protective carrying case. Great mics.

I use this product in live event productions, such as weddings, etc. The thing that I like the most about this product is the cleariness, and crispness in audio quality, and the enormous amount of available audio channels. Also, it is reasonably priced for a proconsumer microphone, and produces professional quality at a reasonable price. The thing that's not great about is that it's a 1/4 inch adapter, so the xlr input is gone, but it's very suitable for my Sony HDR-FX 1 camcorder because it doesn't have xlr inputs.

One of our wireless mics turned up missing from one of our Sony UWP Series Transmitters. I needed to find a Omni-directional lavalier microphone with 1/8 Locking Mini-Plug for a UTX-B1 transmitter. Apparently the quality level of the original mic for the kit was not rated real high. At any rate, I took a look at these and bought this for a replacement. It fills the bill great for not a whole lot of cash!

I use this for interviews as part of a dual system HDSLR / Zoom H4n setup. Nice build quality and I like that it has its own case so you can protect it from damage in transit if you are inclined to be a careful person and stow it neatly in your kit.

For field recording, I love having a Lav that doesn't use phantom power. A good battery and this mic can be used for many, many hours without draining the recorder.

I use these a couple times a week in our association's studio for our webinar host and guests. Much easier than trying to get desktop mics balanced and tuned in. These are clear, easy to mix, easy on the talent. Nothing fancy, but they work great.

I bought this mic to replace the Sony ECM 717 stereo mic that was stolen when my house was burglarized in November. I tried to get a replacement but the 717 is no longer available. The ECM 44B is a good choice for my needs as I shoot a lot of personal interviews for a documentary I am making about Pennhurst State School and Hospital. The quality of the sound is great.

There are cheaper options and their price reflects their quality. This is an affordable option that records crisp, clean audio for interviews.

For the price, it's hard to beat the Sony ECM44. Good sound, good value for the money. B&H has always been able to fulfull my orders quickly and ship these for free. My only complaint is, when the cable seperates from the element you cannot disassemble the capsule for repairs. However, this is common with most lavalier microphones these days.

I have used this mic for years. It is a great all around mic. It sounds great. It's durable. It's priced right. In fact about 6 moths ago I was on a shoot and a guy helping to un-Mic a guest accidentally dropped the mic into a glass of water! I immediately yanked it out of the cup and blew it dry. The thing works as good as it always has. Not sure how it survived, but it did!

i am a legal videographer and switched over to these mics from the Shure SM-11. They are wonderful. sound is amazing in comparison. Just have to get used to carrying around batteries, but I have been told the batteries should last a long time. would definitely recommend to anyone to give them a try!My only concern is the super long super thin cable. Hope it stands up to atty and witness abuse.

This is a very reliable microphone. I use it with 11-14 year old middle school students and they hold up very well.

I'd been getting by with a cheap lav for some time and started to have problems. I have XLR inputs on my Canon XA10 and wanted a mic with XLR output. The Sony is great and the AA battery lasts a long time and I don't have to deal with turning the mic on and off (and forgetting to turn it off).

This mic has been on the market for years. Reason: It gets the job done at a reasonable price. Sure, you can spend more, but why would you? I've been using these mics for many years in conjunction with my Sony wireless units and cannot recommend them highly enough! Dependable, trouble-free performance every time ...

I wanted replacement microphones with better quality for my Azden 35BT body packs. This has the same specs as the Azden Sony ECM-44 but for less money. The plug needed to be rewired for the 35BT. I replaced the mini-Plug with the Pearstone 1/8 Locking Mini-Plug. If you don't mind a little work you can have a better quality microphone and save some money.

Using the Sony ECM-44B for an effect mics is an economical way to get good audio in a sports environment. Placing these mics in the padding around the basket helps bring the making of the basket or the clank off the rim makes the viewer feel like they are there. These mics are very robust and can take the beating you put out.

I'm a freelance photojournalist and I use this mic for video interviews with my DSLR. It's easy to use and picks up decent sound. There is a small amount of background hiss but for this price I think that's to be expected. Definitely worth it if you can't afford a set of wireless lavs.
