These complement the range of the human ear quite nicely. I have problems with headphones in the 30khz and up range so these tapping out at 22kHz is a great number. The low end starting at 10Hz is not too bassy and perfect for DJing. They weigh about 272 grams which is 2 grams more than the Beyerdynamic DT-770's. and 70 grams heavier than Pioneer Headphones. I agree with most people on the plastic breaking down after heavy use, so an extended warranty is recommended.

For the price, the sound is Amazing! An incredible sound but...The plastic clip broke and Shure sent me a new one. The second new one broke in about three places about a year later so I had to duct tape it. I want to buy the 880 but I'm scared that for $200 it too will break rather quickly.

I compared them to a few others, and for the price these were the best! They have really good fedelity and pretty good isolation in a mix run at 80db.

I would have given these headphones 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that they give me a massive headache after 30 minutes. Other than that, highly highly recommended.

The sound quality on the SRH440 headphones is very good. Very balanced -- no boomy bass, but not lacking in bass. Clear mids and highs. The problem is the design. They really are too heavy to be worn for more than 3-4 hours a day. However, the fatal flaw of these are the material used to change the size. It creaks. Loud. Like, really loud over the music. Not that I'm a gum chewer, but if someone was, the movement of their jaw would make loud creaking noises in the earcups. It's really intolerable, and I'll be bringing these back to Guitar Center. ... When purchasing a pair of these I ignored a review by others that the headphones were uncomfortable with long hours of use. I found them to be uncomfortable after just one hour use. Problem seems to be the shape of the headband being a channel with two ridges that are on the underside and insufficiently padded. Will I keep and use them, yes as I anticipate only using them one hour or less at a time.

This is my second pair of Shure SRH440s. The first pair lasted the better part of a decade until the small external wire that connects the two cups got frayed internally. I tried doing a repair myself but couldn't manage it so I bought a new pair. To my ear, these headphones are very clear and transparent which is great because I use them for mixing vocals and piano, in addition to every day use. They are comfortable and adjustable.

These are my go-to headphones now. I use it at work, home, and my commute to work. They are a bit larger than regular headphones, so some people might find it bulky, but the sound quality for the price is great, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice pair of headphones, but doesn't want to spend more than $100.

I use these mostly for practice with my keyboards and to listen to music from various sources. Good but not great sound. Decent mids and highs but bass is a little muddy. Very comfortable. The carry pouch and detachable cord are an asset. They serve the purpose and are overall worth the money. I am keeping them but I'm not sure they qualify as a 'professional' headset.

Overall a very good product - great sound quality. Some minor issues: 1) not lightweight - 11.1 ounces (316 grams) weight of the headphones alone without the cord. 2) the headband adjustment detents are too loose - does not hold the adjusted position - detent pressure itself should either be adjustable, or should have been a little more positive.

These are some of the best headphones I've had in awhile. As an audio engineering student, these meet my needs for mixing and mastering. A great range of frequencies while not letting too much outside sound in. Pros: - Frequency Range - Durability - Build Quality - Amazing Sound - Comes with 3.5mm to 1/4 inch adapter Cons: - Can be uncomfortable when wearing for long mixing sessions.

really good sound. The fit over the ears is good if a little heavy. The only real down side is the coil cord. Would rather this was a straight cord so it didn't tug so much every time you move your head.

These Shure Headphones are plug and play... Immeaditley plugged into my amplifier after opening package. I bought them to appease my wife, the rest of my family and the neighbors. I'm the type of guy that plays early in morning or late at nite. So these were a must.

I use this primarily as home studio headphones. My only concern are the protruding tiny wires that connect the headphone to the headband. They seem to be fragile and if accidentally snagged, then that's the end of the headphones.

I use these headphones for listening to music and for recording my own music, and my band's music. These headphones definitely perform just as advertised: They are comfortable, portable, durable, and have great sound quality. I really like the coiled cord as well.

When I'm doing a mix, I like to not only hear the music thru my monitors, but I like too hear them thru a good pair of headphones as well. I can truly say that the Shure H440's are great for this. The sound is awesome, and give you distinction from the highs and lows in your recordings.

Tese headphones are pretty nice. I A/B'd all the $100 headphones and these were the best that B%h has in their superstore. The low end is good, the high end doesn't rip your ears out like the Sony 7506. they are colapsable which is nice for touring/ traveling.

Sound is good and serves my purpose of monitoring sound while video editing. It is true though, as other reviews stated before me, that it hurts on the top of the head. I move it a little forward towards my forehead and it makes the trick: does not hurt anymore.
