I replaced my MXL770 with the Sm7b with the cloud lifter and now my voice booth is useless. I can just sit there behind my desk and record podcasts and voice overs. It pick up no sound apart from my voice. I am extremely happy with this microphone.

There's a reason everyone says the the SM7B is great: it's true. It gives voices a rich, smooth quality that you won't get with a condenser. I'm using it with a Cloudlifter for video--it can be out of the shot a couple of feet away from the person talking and still sound great--without picking up every sound in the room and every little mouth click. In fact some distance is often a good idea because it does have a bit of proximity effect.

The Shure SM7B seems to be everybody's gateway into the professional mic world - and for good reason. What makes it so incredible is that you have to go really, really, really far past the SM7B's $400 price point before you find something that can even compete with it. It's got a solid response and the sound of a mic three times it's price. It's a worthy entry to an established mic locker or an excellent start to one.

I use my mic for gigs, for performing at church on Sunday, recording at home, and if I want a fuller sound in my recordings I'll mic my guitar cab. It's pricy, but it is well worth it.

This has to be the end game microphone for me, it has the dynamic microphone where it doesn't pick up any surrounding audio around me at all and it's super clear for recording my guitar amp whenever I play a song I want to record. Overall, it is an expensive beast but a beat nonetheless if you have the money for it. 10/10 would get this microphone again. This is probably the last microphone I'll ever have to buy.

We are doing voiceovers for a project from our local museum. This microphone is phenomenal! Plosives minimized. A sound that is close to the one you hear in your head -- not the tinny one that makes you say, I hate the way I sound. Great mic. And the price is so right!

This is a superbly flexible microphone. High-SPL ratings make it comfortable in front of a kick, roaring guitar or bass amp, or high-powered vocal. It has a warm, thick low-end that really complements my Telecaster-AC30, with enough silky midrange and high-end to bring out the best in my baritone vocals. It's like an SM57 grew up aware of the patriarchal message of its ancestors, and decided instead to be inclusive and open-minded.

I've been revamping my sound booth and without a doubt this mic was the way to go. The tech hasn't changed in decades...for good reason. The vocals are extremely good and what I wanted most was to eliminate any ambient sounds. This mic almost completely eliminated everything, even before sound proofing. I highly recommend this piece of tech for anyone needing superior vocals for podcasts or general voice work. Extremely happy with my purchase.

This mic already reduces most of the background noise on its own, however, that means you'd need to crank up the gain pretty high if you don't talk loud enough, but, get a Cloud CL-1 and your problem is solved. I have virtually no complaints about this mic, it's just great. Worth every penny.

Purchased this microphone to be able to record music for our church livestream and it works incredibly well! Such a helpful mic for recording that gives lots of clean gain that comes out so well in any recording. Also has adjustable features for rolling off bass or boosting presence. Highly recommend them - get one!

I noticed a lot of podcasters and radio personalities use this mic, not to mention all the acclaims of notable musicians but I was still a little skeptical of it would sound sound much better than the Heil PR-40. I'm not really an audiophile but I loved how my voice recording sounded compared to the Heil PR4. It is definitely a great dynamic mic.

I use this setup for voice overs and it is working wonderfully. I did have to buy a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 to boost the signal, but with that added, it's amazing.

I've gone through a lot of different mics, and this is by far the best. I work in a home studio, and send my vocals to my producer. This mic provides the cleanest form of vocals I could possibly ask for. It makes collaborations much easier.

Read the manual to adjust buttons on the back of the physical mic to clean up low ends. Also would recommend the Cloudlifter as if you use this mic with a cheaper/average preamp you will have to really crank it to get decent levels. Cloudlifter adds like 49 dB of range, so definitely worth it. Love this mic just a few tips for the serious user.

I am updating some gear, and this is a wonderful addition — all of the reviews mentioned using a mic activator (Cloud), which I also picked up — great tips The difference between this mic and the one it replaced was an order of magnitude.

I'm a voice over actor and was previously using a usb condenser microphone for at home recording. I don't have the best sound proofing so decided to pick up a Dynamic mic and the Shure SM7B was the most recommended. It's been great as I don't have to fix as much in post with room tone and sounds coming from other rooms

I really wanted to love this mic. I paired it with a Fethead which worked extremely well, but my issue was with the tone of the mic. It sounded decent, but nomatter what I tried, it sounded muddy. Even though I was right up on the mic. For my application, which is spoken word, it didn't give me the clarity that I had hoped for. It's a beautiful mic, but just not right for me.
