Ive long felt the Sony MDR-V6 phones were unbeatable, perfect quality (I have 3 of them, for different rooms). Decided to splurge to see if these Sennheisers could be better, for only $15 more, and they are. Definitely better depth and definition, worth the extra $

These headphones worked great for 3 months, then the right headphone died for no reason. They live on my desk and get no heavy use. Sennheiser replaced them, and 2 months later, the same thing happenned again. I wish Id gone with Sony.

These headphones are an excellent value. The sound is excellent. The ear-pads go around the ears and are very comfortable - and prevent ambient noise from coming in. Eventually, your ears will get hot, but it takes a little time (and that tells you its time to give your ears a break :) ) Very nice flat response.

I use this product for my Ipod, Desktop computer, and rarely my laptop. Very comfortable, was really worried about comfort since I wear glasses. Sound is superb, very clear, im hearing things i have not heard before in my music and games. Now for those gamers that have to have a good headset and mic, you can buy parts, yes parts for the headset including a mic attachment. Dont think im allowed to say on here where you might get one but its pretty easy to find. I dont like the cord being on the left hand side but after 30 min I got use to it. Also dont like the coil cord, its a bit annoying at times. ... More

I use this for everything from watching movies to mixing recordings off my DAW. It does not enhance anything, but does not hide details either. Except for the slight stuffiness that comes with closed cans, I would say the experience is as close to true monitoring as possible, especially given the price. You also get great build quality and flexibility in this design. A tad bulky, but it's not problem unless you need to constantly take them off and/or look less like robot. Also, note that it is very hard to hear people talking with these on - cut's out a lot of HF content from the outside. ... More

I purchased these about three years ago when I decided to start recording my own music, other than the cord getting hung up on things, they are very comfortable, which enables me to focus more on the music, both playing and mixing, which is a huge plus!! As for the cord, I bought a 25 foot extension cable, problem solved! For the money, it's a great bargain! I love 'em!!

I use these headphones with my Roland TD-15 kit. I just reordered a pair because the exact same model I had previously went out after 9 years of consistent use!! That is amazing quality!

General listening headphone. I don't use these for critical mixing but general purpose good sounding headphones for music recording monitor mix for musicians.

I bought these because I got fed up with my "smart" wireless headphones randomly turning off or disconnecting. These sound great and they never randomly turn off! They do tend to squeeze your head and warm your ears, but its not enough to be a unbearable. I would of preferred a normal cable, but it is fun to play with so its not too bad. It was interesting that the manual explicitly said these headphones are for monitoring uses only. (Because they can be too loud.) But I have mine plugged into a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (which has a big monitoring dial) so I figure I'm good to go. ... More

Can't go wrong with this set of cans. I personally prefer these to the Sony MDR-7506 studio headphones. The Sennheisers are much more sturdy and cancel out the sound very well. I would say these are heavy on the midtones but hold a decent bass. Not nearly as good of a soundstage as the Sennheiser HD598's which are dropping in price ($) but those are more for private music sessions as the HD280's I would recommend for video editing.

I love these headphones for monitoring and mixing when doing video editing. I love listening to music on these even more. I work in a somewhat noisy office environment, and these phones are VERY quiet. I sometimes can't hear when people are trying to talk to me. The frequency response is also incredible. You can hear deep bass as well as crisp details in the high end. I have had these for over 5 years and have yet to find other headphones I prefer. The only issue might be that since they are somewhat big and bulky they can cause fatigue after extended use. I don't really mind it. ... More

After going through 3 pairs of the Sony's I thought I would try these to see if they'd hold up any better in the field. The long cord is not a great feature for use with a video camera. They audio quality is probably flatter in response and more accurate than the Sony's. Comfort is why I only give these phones 4 stars, not 5. They are tighter and feature less outside noise and as such they can get a bit uncomfortable during extended use. Still, great sounding professional phones if you want top quality.

As a film student teetering on the verge of graduation, I'm learning an appreciation for professional grade video and audio gear; my new Sennheiser HD-280s have made me see the light and hear the golden sounds coming from our top-of-the-line Sennheiser shotgun mics and TASCAM recorder. The generous cordage is handy for utility audio duty and I can even work the boom without an extension if the mixer is close enough to the action. After trying the HD-280s on my home stereo, I've giving my old SONY headphones to my niece to play with.

I use these for video editing in a communal workspace. These are nice headphones with good sound. I'm not a big fan of closed-back cans, but I needed to replace a set of AKG K240's that are 15 years old and require too much work to repair. The new K240's are made in China and are junk. Two drawbacks: the tightness of the headband and the coiled cable. The headband is too tight for my comfort when I'm wearing my glasses (which is 90% of the time), but I'm holding on to hope that they will loosen up over time. The coiled cord is just annoying because I don't like to keep the amp within an arms reach of my chair... ... More

Bought for monitoring speech in field videography as primary use. Sound is excellent with crisp highs that don't pierce, warm lows and a slight emphasis on the mid-range. Comfortable to wear for long periods but are not ideal for small heads. Where the band meets the adjustment part is very wide for smaller heads. I also have the HD8 DJ Headphones (B&H # SEHD8DJ) which fit much more comfortable on my smaller melon. The head padding is plush and appears to be replaceable although it seems a bit flimsy by way of attachment method.

I've been using these daily for 8 months now while editing video for my job at a major outdoor clothing company, and finally picked up a pair for my personal video production rig. Great in the studio for editing, fantastic in the field for audio monitoring, and I've found myself using these more and more just for the sheer pleasure of listening to music and zoning out. Great quality audio, all day comfort, and fantastic build for the price. These are my go-to.

Great sound reproduction. Also, on a recent flight, I enjoyed the good noise-cancellation ability to mute the background noise of the plane. Although by necessity they are bulkier than ear-buds (and deliver correspondingly higher-quality sound), they collapsed into a respectfully smaller shape for transport. These 'phones were the right choice.

I love it, I did an expo convention last year doing video recording interviews and couldn't hear anything from the interviewee and recording or at all monitor the sound due to the sound was being recorded on the camera. But this year I'm recording on the H4N and now I can monitor sounds and with the 280 monitor headphones I could hear the interviewee much better. Only thing bothered me was taking off and on my headphones as they kept folding in I wish there was a lock mode to lock in the headphones from not folding into each other when taking them off or on. ... The most helpful low review (per B&H) for these monitor headphones said they have an odd design that makes them uncomfortable to wear. I decided to buy because the positive reviews were strong. Well, it only took 15 minutes with them on to decide they would not work for me due the way they pinch the ears and force the headband down uncomfortably across the top of my head. No way I could wear these for hours during edits. Returning and my search is on again for a moderate priced monitor headphone for editing.
