Just bought and used for the first time last weekend. Filmed 3 days of a sled dog race. Ran around filming footage of the races and interviews with mushers and event coordinators. The built in mic sounds great and the little windbuster was handy on the windy days. Wish the windbuster stayed on a little better though. It was so much easier clipping this little mic on interview subjects quickly, instead of feeding and hiding microphone wires in shirts and jackets. I turned it off and on between interviews to save battery life and one charge lasted me all three days of filming. It's so nice and small too. Next filming is on an island and I have to travel by plane and any baggage over 20 pounds I have to pay by weight. Downsizing all my camera gear, even tiny little mics helps! ... More

The wireless go took about 10 seconds to set up, turn on, and immediately start recording. The results it provided right out of the box with the onboard microphone were far better than what I was expecting especially at this price range. The sound quality with the sony a7s ii provided clear sound with great range and little to no noise to be heard. Designing the receiver clip to also double as the shoe adaptor was brilliant. It keeps the profile small and its one less thing I have to worry about. I will very likely be ordering a second one to record two person interviews. The only thing that would be nice is to include the $10 xlr adaptor with the kit but Im only saying that because I forgot to order it at the same time. ... More

The sound on this is great for me. It corrected the background noise issues I was having with all of my other mics. I originally bought several cheaper USB mics and a VideoMic GO Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone, but I couldn't get rid of all of the background noise they picked up. I am a novice and have had to learn quickly, thrown into live video during the pandemic. I was considering acoustical treatment for the entire room, because I didn't know how to or if I even could adjust out the noise. The Wireless GO is worth every penny. SETTING IT TO 0dB SETTING ON THE RECEIVER IS THE KEY. I can run everything In the room now, including my air conditioner, 3 MacBooks with loud fans, 4 monitors, 2 cameras, ATEM Mini Pro, etc. I bought the kit that includes the Lavalier GO, and that makes it much easier to hide and use. ... It's the easiest wireless mic I have. Just plug them in and they work. I had to reduce the output level but that's it. I love being able to see the transmitter's battery level on the receiver's display. That's a luxury feature my other wireless mic (3x the cost) doesn't have. No interference during my first shoot that lasted 3 hours. The only thing I noticed is the audio is delayed a little. When I was setting this up I thought there was an echo; turned out the live audio plus the delayed output of this mic made it sounded like an echo. When I played it back there is no echo. I also love how small the transmitter is. It's easy to hide and with a built-in mic as well. The item I received look like it wasn't well packaged. There were scratch marks on the device -- turned out the scratch marks were on the peel-off tape. But there are some dirt markings on the side and they don't peel off. The box was sealed so I don't know how the dirt markings got there. ... More

This system is a dream for a traveling one-man band ...small, efficient, and simple. But, and this is a rather big but, the transmitter is not well shielded against RF interference, and many mics will generate a high pitched whine that is impossible to work around. And it is not necessarily dependent on the quality of the lav...my most expensive lav, an Audio Technica, whines like heck. My mid range Giant Squid whines. A cheap lav I got for action cameras works fine (but is not as good a mic as the other two). Be sure to test whatever lav you want to work with this thoroughly before taking it out into the field. If Rode could provide a data base of lav mics that will work with this, it would be great. It would also be great if they could work out something that would keep the wind muffs on the transmitter (I understand that they are working on this). But, all in all, this is the simple, tiny, reliable wireless mic system that weve been waiting for. ... More

Pros: Lightweight Small Good battery life Reliable Quality Screen for info on receiver USB-C Ports for charging Allows charging and use simultaneously Receiver has gain adjustability (3 settings) Sounds good, built in lav is good Cons: Windscreen attachment is terrible. Slight nudge lets it fall off. Should made some secure fastening method. Wish it had high PowerDelivery profiles to allow it to charge faster Side thoughts: Would have been great if they put a hot/cold shoe pass through on top of receiver to allow more functionality of camera/device you put it on. Also would of been nice to have dual output ports on receiver to allow real time monitoring with corded headphones. Lights on Transmitter cannot be turned off. This is an EXCELLENT remote mic, with a GREAT microphone and EXCELLENT SOUND. That said, you have to keep the transmitter and receiver in direct line of sight. If you wear it on your lapel, and turn away from the receiver, your body will block the signal, and youll lose your audio. So would I recommend it? YES! But you have to understand its limitation.

I have typically recorded audio directly into my Tascam DR-05, but sometimes it would stop recording so I decided to invest in a proper wireless system. I wasn't sure about the wireless GO because of the line of sight needed for it to record. I used it on a 3 day shoot last week and at least in my headphones, it didn't sound like it cut out and a quick listen through the audio on my computer confirms that. I would recommend keeping the gain on the packs on the lowest or middle settings because they get pretty sensitive otherwise. I recorded into my DR-05 and the pre-amps paired with this system worked great! The lav mic I used included the Sony ecmcs3 clip mic (which I have used for years now and love it, although it's a little big and noticeable). I'm giving these things 5 stars because they really do the trick for the money you spend, and they are tiny! ... More

I have been watching videos from some of my YouTube friends for a while. So I decided to buy this mic system. I will have to say it lives up to all the hype and more! Its a great mic choice for me because I create Homestead videos on YouTube, it frees up my hands now to work on projects without worrying about sound quality. I also like the size & its easy to setup just pair the two together and your set. I did have to buy a few extra accessories, 3.5 mm adapter for my Android phone, & a SC7 cable but they work perfect with my setup. I only have one small negative comment the wind screen does not stay on very well it clips on but not secure as I would like....they do give you 2 in your order. Other than that I will be buying another system to add to my setup soon. I highly recommend this mic system buy it you won't be disappointed the sound quality is great! ... More

This system is great, very easy to use. The lavalier audio is not quite as impressive, I am actually getting better audio from the wireless device itself. I really do love this! If the lavalier had the same or better audio quality I would give it a 5 star! (The difference is small but noticeable between the two mics)

I'm a pastor of a small church. We invested in the Wireless GO set because of the continual drive to improve sound and engagement for our online worships. These little guys mean I don't have to record from the sanctuary or on my phone's mic. Overall, I love these. Easy to use right out of the box, already paired for convenience. Their quality is crisp and people have already commented on the better sound. The only things that stop these from getting a 5-star review are 1) the provided deadcats work but do not stay on (I even watched Rode's video on how to get them on better). They are especially delicate when trying to clip it on after putting the deadcat on. 2) I wish they came with the cord needed to connect them to a smart phone. It's an extra $20 for that cord. Why not just include it, Rode? ... More

I've mainly used this for vlogging and there is much to love about the Rode Wireless GO system. It's pre-paired out of the box. Holds a charge reasonably well. The range is great! The sound pickup is awesome. However, there are some really annoying things about it too. The power buttons are fiddly. It's easy to turn on but to turn it off is a pain. The batteries are internal rechargeable so at some point they will become useless. This is a one transmitter, one receiver system. I really wish the receiver could handle more than one transmitter. I find the gain to be strange. Even on the lowest setting, it is too loud. During editing I'm having to drop sound by at least -10dB. I would still recommend it but hopefully a gen2 will address some of these concerns. ... More

I love this product. I've used it with the build in mic, with a lav mic, with an XLR to 1/8 adapter cable to make a wired handheld microphone wireless, and with the same cable to output the feed from a sound board at a live event directly into my camera. It is as close as you can get to a perfect product without completely crossing the line. My only wish is that the it had a setting lower than the lowest one for microphone volume. I used it in a crowded environment with a DJ playing music and even the lowest setting was transmitting a clipped signal. Other than those extremely rare edge cases, this wireless system is phenomenal, and I highly recommend it! I purchased this unit for Zoom & FaceTime meetings & interviews to replace the wired $30 lavalier microphone I had plugged into my mirrorless camera (which I use as my Zoom & FaceTime camera, thanks to one of the excellent Magewell Capture Plus devices). I have been using this product for a couple of weeks and am very happy with it. The sound quality is much improved from the lavalier - which in comparison sounded muffled (with the Wireless GO allowing for higher frequency). And no wires. I have not tested their autonomy. I was able to do 3 - 4 hours of interviews and battery levels showed such duration is of no concern. I only partially tested this on the receiver unit but it looks that the Wireless GO can be used while plugged in if need be. ... More

I had really poor audio and could never get it right in post processing. The Rode Wireless Go changed my recordings for the better. Plug a few a jacks in, power the receiver and transmitter up and I'm ready to go. The audio quality, along with a lav mic, was truly amazing. I used it without the lav and it was equally comparable. I would definitely recommend this product. Plus its small, light and easily hidden. Best $200 bucks I ever spent. If you are on the fence, this one is a go! ... More

Pros: -Great size -Love that it's rechargeable Cons: -Terrible built-in mic -Horrible range I would give this setup a 5 stars if the transmission didn't go in and out only 30ft away. If the receiver is in direct line with the transmitter with nothing blocking it (and I mean nothing blocking it at all) it will record great audio (if you're using a lav mic); otherwise, this thing is a piece of garbage. Audio goes in and out even if the subjects body is between the receiver. I'm a wedding videographer and I won't be able to use this. ... More

There are several videos online showing how the Rode Wireless Go works AMAZING..... until your transmitter breaks line of sight to the receiver. I hoped these demonstrations were false.... they weren't. :( I had my son wear the unit in his shirt and monitored the audio through my GH5 headphone out. As I listened, I asked him to face opposite of me (thus hiding the transmitters from line of sight) the audio sputtered and would disconnect and reconnect at 10feet. As long as your subject doesn't face away from you or has ANY obstruction come between the transmitter and receiver, this will work for you. But unfortunately, I would not recommend this product for Pro use. I own sennheiser evolutions, and rode filmmaker kits and they are a more optimal solution ... More

The quality is good enough that I would not hesitate to use this with an XLR adapter on my professional gear, and it brings crystal clear, idiot-proof audio to a wide range of other applications, such as smartphones and compact cameras for video. This system is so small and impressive that I immediately decided I would never NOT want this in my gear bag, so I quickly ordered a second set to live at my office for others on my team to use. Setup is measured in seconds, not minutes, making it something that non-professionals will actually use to improve the audio in their videos. ... More
