First off - B&H shipping was on time on the first day of product availability as promised. No surprise but always appreciated! As far as the unit itself - its quite remarkable in terms of: - its size (even smaller than it looks in the pics) - included features (the built-in mic on the transmitter is a brilliant inclusion and its sound quality is above average while the graphical display on the receiver is really helpful for quick sound and battery level checking) - operating distance is quite impressive indoors - even around corners and in adjacent rooms - no dropouts. I have not tested at great distances outdoors since that is not relevant for my typical use case. - I am using the Wireless GO with an Osmo Pocket - it is a perfect pairing from a size POV and makes for a very compact run and gun setup. - at $199 the value is clear when compared to competitive offerings. (although Im not sure there is another unit that is truly competitive given the GOs size and feature set) If youre even thinking about getting one of these I say go for it - youll be glad you did. Its quite unlikely that youll be disappointed unless your normally operating under extreme conditions. ... More

I got this mic to run fitness classes online when the pandemic happened. Its small form factor is really great for any filming where you are active and need something wireless, it couldnt be much better in that way. However the sound quality on the mic is not the best compared to the Rode Link which I was using before this for example. That isnt really an issue though, an expected trade off for its size and functionality. What is a point of concern is that the power button on the transmitter started having issues only a couple months after purchasing it and now its a real challenge to get it to turn on or off which is not acceptable when you need this thing for work like I do. I have only used this indoors in my studio and always keep it in its case in my gear bag when not in use. I'm waiting to see what my options are with getting it fixed, but I would caution anyone to look into this before buying. I have recommended this mic to two other people who have bought them and havent had the issue. Now with it happening as frequent as it is I wouldnt recommend it again. It takes maybe a dozen or so attempts before it turns on or off, dreading the day when it just stops entirely. ... More

Folks, the Rode Wireless Go with Rode Omni Lavalier Microphone System Kit is going to provide you with reliability and quality all from an extremely small, albeit micro audio solution. If your needs are short range and you prefer to mimic a professional style audio closeup microphone setup, then incorporating the Rode Lavalier will work out great, in addition you can utilize the transmitter's internal lavalier mic input as part of the Wireless Go, in my testing both sound almost completely identical. I prefer to use the added lavalier, only because I want to be sure of my audio direction, but in the event you need a quick and fast hookup, then the incorporated lavalier in the Wireless Go clipped on to your lapel sincerely works great. Either way, both solutions provide excellent, clear, and professional style audio into your video, and I've use this setup on my Nikon D7500 and Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2500 and both cameras take this audio setup solution just great! ... We were very excited about this simple run and gun Lavalierish tool Buy unfortunately it just didn't work well. It would crack and make poor audio for interviews that were only 8' away. We had to quickly set up our other Rode Link Filmmaker.. thank goodness we had back up. The way this Go Compact performed was not even acceptable for simple internet vloging... I hope Rode improves the quality.. I've never had a Rode product not work.. I was disappointed..

I purchased this system for vlogging, so that it didn't matter where my camera was aiming or located, my audio would stay linear. I've used it numerous times and it satisfies my reason for purchasing it. My only complaint is that after a month or so of owning it, I notice my audio was only recording in mono (as opposed to stereo-mono). After some testing and troubleshooting (verifying all my settings were correct, cables were good, etc.) I found out the output jack on the receiver is not functioning correctly. The center set of connectors appear to be spread too wide, causing the audio jack to have difficulty making contact. If I put pressure on the cable jack in the same direction of the body of the receiver, I get a stereo output. Under no additional pressure, I only get a mono signal. Fortunately, while this seems like a big issue, it's an easy fix in post. So, I've just been correcting it in FCPX and all is good. ... More

Overall, I love my Wireless Go, it works pretty much as advertised. That means when they tell you it is a line of sight system they mean that it is a line of sight system and once you get beyond about 15 ft. without the transmitter and receiver being directly in the line of sight of each other it can begin dropping out. One other issue I have found is if the transmitter/mic is clipped on the inside of a loose collared T-shirt or in the pocket of a T-shirt clip out and you lean forward it can allow the microphone to flip to where it is pointing directly into your skin and muffle the microphone. Saving the best for last, I love the freedom this allows me compared to a wired lav or shotgun mic, I have one less thing to worry about in regards to my movements in relation to my microphone because I seldom venture more than the 15 ft. away from my camera as noted and I never lose contact with the receiver. No wires to worry about pulling the tripod over with and I dont have to worry about distance or my direction in relation to a shotgun mic. I love the freedom this has given me. Im a fanboy of the Rode Wireless Go! ... More

Same problem that people described earlier. After just a couple of hours of using and testing the mic, I connected an external Rode SmartLav+ to the port on the transmitter. Everything worked well until I removed the external mic and tried to use the internal mic again. It never worked again. Im very disappointed due to this flaw. Ive sent an e-mail to Rode and Im waiting for an answer and a second unit. I wasnt even able to record a single video out of this microphone! I chose between various companies for a long time, honestly it was a difficult choice, because there are good competitors for this cost. I read a lot of reviews about this model and not all of them are good. He took it at his own peril and risk. I have been using it for a month and honestly did not regret it. The sound is good! There is no noise. Compared with a competitor (Sennheiser) and in my opinion this one is better, there is no noise! It is also very convenient that there is a screen on which the battery charge and signal are displayed, the competitor does not. And also surprised by the size, very compact! ... More

I have received 2 different packages containing Rode Wireless Go Compact microphone system... The product presentation is great, the specifications look outstanding, and at first look all seems OK... but alas, the rechargeable batteries (particularly in the TX unit) DO NOT CHARGE. The manufacturer needs to avail themselves of a better battery supplier in order to ensure their great design and good implementation is not D.O.A. - Too bad!

Each year, our church does VBS and we always have 5 or 6 actors on stage at once. We never have the budget to put a decent wireless lavalier on each actor and, thus, we always have problems hearing the actors during the drama. This little wireless system is amazing. I recorded some sample audio on my Sound Devices recorder using a Countryman E6, Countryman B6, and the built-in mic on the TX. Sounds amazing. The built-in mic is VERY good. Low noise floor, great omni pickup, clear. I find the middle sensitivity setting to be best. Extraordinary quality at this price point. When it comes to gear, I am the eternal skeptic. I thought these looked too good to be true when I first saw Rode promoting them. But I was not disappointed. If our primary Sennheiser wireless system were to fail, this would serve perfectly as a backup with our Countryman headset plugged in. This solution helped us save $2400 and we can now hear all of our actors on stage during dramas at our church. Product of the year in my opinion... ... More

So far my biggest complaint with the Rode is how hot it is! Set at its lowest, under most talking situations going to my GH5, it does work. But it does not take much to clip the audio when I try. I have to put the lav mic down by my belly button which means the pickup space is not as tight as I would like if I were outside in noisy environments. Am I the only one with this issue? If I clip it to the top of my shirt like many other people do, just a bit of excitement from my voice will cause it to clip! I would not trust the RODE for paid work. -white color is perfect for wedding dress or white shirts to slightly mask the unit. -Small, easy placement with no Lav wires if not desired. The transmitter has a built in mic, and a slot for a 1/8 mini TRS. I do recommend using the optional rode LAV in white, as the built in transmiter mic can be noisey and less body than a LAV. it does come with a wind screen, but defeats the purpose of the white color if used. -receiver has a gain control (5 stages) with a meter, and display indicates connections. it automatically links to transmitter and avoids other units. i have 2 units, one black and one white. and never have issues using both. - both input on transmitter and output on receiver are TRS and have an included TRS cable to attache receiver to mini input on cam or computer. if using with most android phones, you will need a TRS o TRRS adaptor for phone input.. - both transmitter and receiver have spring clups and are super light. easy to use with video camera. i havent had any issues with dropouts... all line on sight. within 50 feet or so. ... The external mic jack does not work on this device. I have tested four different units and have shipped one back for repair and was sent another replacement. All four of these units would not transmit a signal with an external mic plugged in. All stock should be recalled and this should be taken off the market.

Exactly what I always wanted for family videos. Small, easy to use and with built-in mic! No more AF noise (even external mic doesn't help). I like it more than lav mic cause it still picks up ambient noise so sounds more natural. Very loud sound, I have to use the lowest db setting on the receiver (use it Canon 5d iv). And even then I have to enable attenuator. The sound quality is great - thick and solid. I wonder why the receiver couldn't be powered from the camera itself through 3.5mm cord like rode micro? Overall, this product is excellent for a shockingly low price. I would have paid $300 w/o hesitation. At $200 - it is must have for everyone who does even occasional video (family, hobby, wedding, vlogging, interview, etc.). This system is a dream for a traveling one-man band ...small, efficient, and simple. But, and this is a rather big but, the transmitter is not well shielded against RF interference, and many mics will generate a high pitched whine that is impossible to work around. And it is not necessarily dependent on the quality of the lav...my most expensive lav, an Audio Technica, whines like heck. My mid range Giant Squid whines. A cheap lav I got for action cameras works fine (but is not as good a mic as the other two). Be sure to test whatever lav you want to work with this thoroughly before taking it out into the field. If Rode could provide a data base of lav mics that will work with this, it would be great. It would also be great if they could work out something that would keep the wind muffs on the transmitter (I understand that they are working on this). But, all in all, this is the simple, tiny, reliable wireless mic system that weve been waiting for. ... More

This is an EXCELLENT remote mic, with a GREAT microphone and EXCELLENT SOUND. That said, you have to keep the transmitter and receiver in direct line of sight. If you wear it on your lapel, and turn away from the receiver, your body will block the signal, and youll lose your audio. So would I recommend it? YES! But you have to understand its limitation.

Small and compact. Built in mic, no need to wire a lavalier to transmitter and try to hide the cable. Very quick and practical for interviewing people. Battery life is great. I use a 35 dB attenuator between the line output of a sound board to the mic input of the transmitter module. However.... Downsides of this device are that (1) it came packed in Maximal Frustration Inducing Packaging; like it was designed to aggravate the purchaser, and it did so; what's the point of that?; (2) if there's a PDF user manual on Rode's website, I couldn't find it; so less stars for bad (no) written documentation; and (3) as part of no documentation there are no written electrical specifications (audio input and output impedance, voltage levels, dynamic range, S/N; RF frequencies, RF TX power levels, RF RX sensitivity, etc). ...
