I've mainly used this for vlogging and there is much to love about the Rode Wireless GO system. It's pre-paired out of the box. Holds a charge reasonably well. The range is great! The sound pickup is awesome. However, there are some really annoying things about it too. The power buttons are fiddly. It's easy to turn on but to turn it off is a pain. The batteries are internal rechargeable so at some point they will become useless. This is a one transmitter, one receiver system. I really wish the receiver could handle more than one transmitter. I find the gain to be strange. Even on the lowest setting, it is too loud. During editing I'm having to drop sound by at least -10dB. I would still recommend it but hopefully a gen2 will address some of these concerns. ... More

I was looking for a solution to poor audio on vlogs and videos I was creating for YouTube, etc. I mostly used an Osmo Mobile or my iPhone. I had really poor audio and could never get it right in post processing. The Rode Wireless Go changed my recordings for the better. Plug a few a jacks in, power the receiver and transmitter up and I'm ready to go. The audio quality, along with a lav mic, was truly amazing. I used it without the lav and it was equally comparable. I would definitely recommend this product. Plus its small, light and easily hidden. Best $200 bucks I ever spent. If you are on the fence, this one is a go! ... More

I own a significant amount of professional video gear, including a dual channel diversity wireless field microphone setup that cost more than eight times the price of this and weights ten times as much. The quality is good enough that I would not hesitate to use this with an XLR adapter on my professional gear, and it brings crystal clear, idiot-proof audio to a wide range of other applications, such as smartphones and compact cameras for video. This system is so small and impressive that I immediately decided I would never NOT want this in my gear bag, so I quickly ordered a second set to live at my office for others on my team to use. Setup is measured in seconds, not minutes, making it something that non-professionals will actually use to improve the audio in their videos. ... More

I travel solo a lot and do a lot of video work while traveling---Ive taken bigger Sennheiser systems, various rode mics, Zoom, etc. --The problem is they become difficult and take time to set up and typically are bulky for a run and gun setup--especially if youre out in the wilderness. I just purchased the Rode wireless Go prior to going to Costa Rica for a couple of weeks. Between using the wireless go with the GH5 and a Go Pro hero 7 Black (which is also awesome for being light and decent sound--but close up)--Video was pretty much covered--for weight saving hikes--I went with -24db setting on the wireless go and -12db on the gh5 and is seemed to work well! I think there is more of a tendency to shoot more video using the GH5 with the wireless go because it is such a compact system!! ... More

I'm bummed. I've read bad reviews for the wireless GO, thinking people must have just had bad luck this too happened to me--the built in mic went dead with ZERO output after unboxing and 5 minutes of testing. I had very high hopes for this wireless system--ease of use and compact size, but I have no choice but return this defective product. I am very displeased with the RODE QC on this producgt but happy with B&H customer support who will refund me with no return shipping costs. I might considering re-purchasing this unit after 6-7 months so RODE can address this issue. Until then, what happened RODE??? ... More

I use this for my youtube channel, I move around a lot where shotgun mics don't work as well and force me to by in a spot during the video. I have used two other brands with limited success. Sound quality was an issue of the first model (it was inexpensive as I was starting out), the second was durability, the sound quality was good but the unit would cut out intermittently. On to the no Rode. I have other Rode product have not been disappointed. The quality of the sound, the portability, the ease of set up, the digital range in which operates and so far the quality have been what I expect from a RODE product. An excellent investment. ... I plugged one unit into my camera and put the other unit in my pocket. Pressed the power button on both unites and they instantly linked - no hassle, no delay. I plugged the lavalier mike into the receiving unit (in my pocket) and hooked it on to my shirt. I then started recording video. The sound quality seems to be studio quality. I was very impressed. This unit is small, lightweight, works flawlessly, and I can't think of anything about it I would change except maybe charge a little less for it (it's not cheap!)

I've watched many others with this microphone and been pleased with their audio quality, and finally purchased one for myself. The sound is great and the windscreen does an excellent job in wind (up to about 20mph) While the windscreen doesn't always stay on while your doing activities such as working on cars, bending, and causing the screen to rub its way loose, it's far from a major detractor of the product as a whole. Once again RODE does a great job at making an ultra-compact, and quality product. Upgrading to this from a competitors belt-pack setup is far easier to manage when shooting with small devices such as the GoPro platform. ... More

I really appreciate the versatility of this system, especially with the built-in microphone on the transmitter. I have a good quality lav mic, so I didn't actually plan on using that feature much. BUT I tested these out on a busy shoot day with 8 sit-down interviews. Since some of the subjects didn't have a jacket or anything else to hide the lav, I just unplugged it and used the built-in mic. The transmitter is easy to hide between buttons or under a collar, and the audio is really not bad at all. Also appreciated are the super easy setup and zero interference issues (at least I didn't experience any, even with cell phones and wifi all around me). I'm looking forward to booking a shoot where I need multiple lavs, so I have an excuse to buy more of these. ... More

It's best if you use a lav mic with this, depending on wear you clip the transmitter. I noticed clothing noise with just the transmitter and no lav mic. I have been using the rode video shotgun mic for all my shows up to now. but now I love the wireless Go with lav mic. I wish there was a lock thread on the transmitter for the lav, so it can't be unplugged by accident.

I was hoping for an easy way to provide better sound for my camera than its own built-in microphones, and this system fits the bill for someone like me with little experience using external microphones. The mic/transmitter unit and the receiver unit come already paired, so its just a matter of charging their batteries, connecting the receiver to a cameras mic input (with the included wire), turning them both on, and selecting one of three volume levels. My experience, on a windy day (I attached an included wind protector.) was quite good, with a dramatic reduction in the amount of wind that could be heard as compared to what the cameras own mic allowed through. While I wish the batteries were user-replaceable, Id say this product works very well and is easy to set up. ... More

These mics saved my job a month ago...I was working in a bldg that caused some major issues with my always reliable and solid Sony UHF wireless mics, and I had to fall back to the Rode Go's on the spot. Fortunately I had two sets for back up, and they worked great. The sound quality is pretty decent, you'll have to tweek a bit in post as they tend to lean more towards the treble side, but overall worked flawlessly. Do get the rode go lav mics that are now available to go with them, they work great once you find the best position(usually 8-12 directly under the chin is best). A solid performer, I'm going to purchase a couple more sets in the near future as they are much easier to use, and not a problem to tweek in post. ... More

I'm am loving the RODE Wireless GO. I recommend it to anyone that is looking to get quality audio to take advantage of the wireless set up. I will mention that as with any wireless tool you need to experiment and try different configuration to reduce or eliminate interference and noise. People may complain but this is just how wireless electronic work. I was unable to get it to work with my Zoom H1n due to noise but I have been using it without any noise on my Nikon Z6 while recording separately with the Zoom H1n and it's working great. Highly recommended especially for interviews, using it as a lav itself or attaching a separate lav. ... More

Have tested and used on 3 jobs. Works great. Does not have the range that my Audio Technica wireless, but good enough more many uses. Charge lasts at least an hour and a half of continuous use. (perhaps much longer, but that is the longest that I have tested so far.) The real advantage is that I didnt always pack my other AT branded wirelesses, unless I was planning to use. The one now permanently lives in my GH5 bag so that it is always available.

This thing worked ONCE...and that was while testing. I turned it on months later to finally use it and it doesn't work at all! It turns on. Connects to each other. And that's it. No audio works with or without a mic. Only good thing is the batteries still work with no recharging 8 months later. It's a $200+ brick. No firmware updates either! Avoid at all costs!

I absolutely love this solution. Not having to run cables up shirts and blouses is beyond welcoming, but its nice to know I still have that option, genius design. I was awaiting inventory on the Sennheiser solution when these were announced. Since the Rode was $150 cheaper, it made sense to just give it a try after all of the reviews posted from NAB. I absolutely love this product. I run my setup through a Zoom H4N Pro and monitor audio there. I noticed using the Y Cable when connecting directly to my camera (Panasonic G85) that what Im hearing doesnt match what Im recording, false reading. Be sure to monitor the meter on your camera. The Rode Wireless Go wireless microphone works perfectly with my Canon 6D MKII and Nikon Z6. I had no issues with either camera after setting the in-camera microphone volume control. I never needed to adjust the db setting on the Rode itself. I left it as it came. My device DID NOT come with the wind muffs so they must no there is an issue with them staying affixed to the transmitter. I was blown away by how well the microphone filtered out (or didn't pick up) background noise such as barking dogs, airplanes, and construction vehicles. I'm writing this while on location setting up a streaming studio for a client. This has been a failure of a mic, and I'd love input if anybody dealt with these issues. 1- buzzing from mounting on the hotshoe of the camera, interference, now I have it dangling off the camera and it mostly helps. 2- clipping dropping of voice when levels are nowhere near hot, tried all output and camera levels. Using an external lav mic and I think that's adding to the problem, as moving the wire just a bit affects the reception quality. There is plenty of wifi around me so maybe that's causing issues, but I'd say these units are highly prone to interference when used indoors. Help? Kinda getting screwed by this. ... More
