I bought this to replace an old lav mic I was using with my T5i and I couldn't be more pleased! It records clear audio and doesn't pick up a lot of ambient noise. I love the super small size and that I don't have to fuss with batteries or cords. The VideoMicro is a great and inexpensive way to upgrade the sound quality of your videos!

This is the coolest idea for a mic. Great wind screen, great sound, great shockmount, and great price. But you need your cameras mic input to send 3 volts of power to power this mic. My cameras would not provide that much power to the mic so it would not work. So I returned 2. B&H is very good with handling returns. The cameras I used this on were the Canon C300 MKII and the Canon XC10. It works on the DJI OSMO though.

I use it on an iOgrapher for my iPad2 and on my Lenovo laptop. It works perfect in both cases. My iPad videos are edited with Corel Vidio Studio X9 and the audio tracks are no longer a problem. The only drawback is that it lessens the portability of using an iPad for mobile filming.

The Rode VideoMicro may be small but you can really hear the difference...much more depth to recorded audio. A well priced solution to the shortcomings of the built in mic on my Nikon D5300.

I got this mic as a budget option for my audio on my DSLR. The quality is fantastic. There is a slight hiss sometimes but for the most part this mic has over performed in every area. It is also one of the easiest to use mics out there because of it using power from the camera itself.

The product is as compact as the description says. Performs just as well as my Rode VideoMic GO. My only criticism would be the loose fitting windscreen that is provided with the product. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this microphone to anyone looking for something small and versatile.

Excellent design, easy to use and does just what it is supposed to at reasonable price. I use it on dslr even when capturing audio on external device. Wind screen an added bonus and works well. My first test run was on an a boat in open water, worked like a champ, no wind noise.

I have been impressed by this little mic. I was thinking I'd use it on my Sony a7iii, but I've ended up finding it a great fit for my GoPro. It's not perfect on the GoPro because it shows up in the view but I've developed a way of holding the cord with my gripping finger so the mic isn't in the view. The sound quality may not be pro level but it's certainly good enough for run-and-gun YouTube footage that I can splice into larger projects so I'm very happy to have a smaller mic like this.

This is my first external microphone for any of my camera gear and WOW. I was a little nervous with the price being so low, but knowing how reliable Rode is with their products and customers I went with my gut and made the purchase. ?Extremely lightweight! (Can't even notice the weight) ?NO batteries! Always running which is great for forgettable people aka me. ?Great quality of sound! So much more rich than the onboard camera mics! THANK YOU RODE!

I know others have praised this mic for what it does for it's size and price but you can't really know how good it is until you use it. What a HUGE difference over the crummy mic built into the mirrorless cameras! We especially like it for shooting with our Sony a7s on a one-hand gimbal. We get great sound but no extra weight and no problem with the balance.

I love my new rode microphone! Very light but very good quality. I bought the longer cable for this and I am so glad I did. Such a big difference when you have the microphone sitting on top of the camera compared to having it so close to you. The voice is clean & pure and with the furry windshield that comes with it, the wind noise is eliminated.

I shoot a lot of sports and action videos outdoors and Amarillo is an extremely windy city so tried out the microphone in winds of 15-20 mph. It performed flawlessly you could tell the wind was gusting but the sound quality was amazing.

I own four of these and I use them on every piece of run & run gear I have. GH4, GH5, Osmo, and all my location audio equipment. Sound is half the picture What a difference good sound makes to your story telling. The product build and quality is great. No battery is required. Comes with shock mount and wind screen.

Much better then DJI Osmo built in mic. compact size. VideoMicro still pick up little noise from DJI motor fan. to compare:(VideoMicro :up to 5-10 %, built in mic 70-80 % noise ) my opinion is, videoMicro is very usable, but if you looking something pro quality audio, better to buy wireless lavalier system, like: Redelink or audiotechnika 10.

This is one of the highest quality and lowest priced items I use regularly for film production. With the dead cat I can do shoots outside and it works perfectly for every other application I have tried it with. I recommend it.

I purchased this to have a backup mic for the Rode Videomic I've had for a few years now. I was surprised to discover Videomicro might pick up the audio even better when indoors and in close proximity - i.e. interview-type scenarios - than the original Rode mic I have. Because of its compact size it can work well for lightweight and/or nimble rigs. It's low price range is also a perk.

I'm new to shooting video with my camera as I am a photographer. But I have been trying my hand at shooting video with my X-Pro2 and this is a great step up in quality from the built in microphone. Only issue (which is not at all a fault of the Rode VideoMicro) is that I needed a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter to plug into my X-Pro2. Otherwise the audio is crisp and clear!

I?m no sound expert and I still edit with free software but even I could tell this wasn?t lightyears ahead of the onboard mic. Bought for my Canon 80D and it?s perfect. No more motor sounds when it focuses or zooms. No more scratching and banging the camera and worrying the mic is picking it up. Plus the wind fuzzy does its job well!

While not a complete review, as I've not used our new VidMicro that much yet, it made a positive first impression. During first use there was considerably construction noise going on around us, but this directional mic seemingly muted the noise considerably. It wasn't perfect, but I had realistic expectations.

*This is an outstanding microphone, if you're looking for a great microphone that's small and battery-free, this is the one. It sounds fantastic and has awesome side and rear rejection. One of the best features is that is comes with the deadcat which usually costs extra so to have it included at this price makes it a bargain.
