Bought this specifically to use in place of the aweful mic on the DJI OSMO as an on camera mic. Biggest concern was not having power through the mic port and still pickiing up noise from the gimabal and the very loud fan on the camera. Neither was an issue with this mic! Excellent on camera audio, no power issue and no noise from the OSMO!!! Excellent kit for price point, that includes the shock mount, the cable and the dead cat!

I use the Rode VideoMicro for on-the-go interviews or filming while at work. I didn't get a chance to try it out before I had to use it, so I was nervous about the sound quality I'd get while shooting an interview on the sidewalk at a very busy intersection. When I reviewed the footage, I was amazed at how great the VideoMicro worked. The interviewee's voice was crystal clear. Granted, I did still pick up a lot of the surrounding noise, but that's expected. I wanted the person's voice to be clear and that's what I got. Right away, I let some of my video production buddies know about how great it worked and right away they went and bought one of their own since they're already happy with Rode products. My only regret is that I didn't buy more than one during the first-time purchase. I'll be ordering two more after this review. ... More

I bought the Rode VideoMicro to use on my Canon 1Dx and my Sony Handycam at work. I was impressed with the fact that you don't need batteries so I won't be forgetting to turn it off and on. The Sony is small and adding this mic to the package doesn't make it to big. The sound is good for doing interviews in classrooms as well as outside. It came with the wind screen which is why I made the purchase as well as the price. You can't go wrong for the price. Going to buy one for my 12-year-old daughter who is starting a youtube blog. ... so. i bought this to go with my new panasonic G7 to take on my first overseas trip. I wanted to take lots of 4k video and have good audio to go with it. I love the mic's compact size and the included fury wind shield is a huge plus! I didn't notice any excessive battery drain while using it, which is great. The rycote lyre suspension that is supposed to be unbreakable was indeed quite breakable. mine broke while on my trip, which was quite an inconvenience. Rode is replacing my rycote lyre suspension, but i have to pay to ship the broken one back. ... More

I love my new rode microphone! Very light but very good quality. I bought the longer cable for this and I am so glad I did. Such a big difference when you have the microphone sitting on top of the camera compared to having it so close to you. The voice is clean & pure and with the furry windshield that comes with it, the wind noise is eliminated.

I've been looking for a mic for general production. My on camera mic is omnidirectional and I was hoping to get a shotgun that would help me out. This mic does great! Even from a distance the mic still picks up perfectly, but if you can get this mic right about your actor then it's perfect for a run and gun shoot. Also, the mic uses plug in power, so I have no issues with keeping up with batteries.

Well I received mine today and still can't use it because the SC2 cable that should of been included is missing. Very disappointed in Rode/BH for this, especially after hearing so many glowing reviews about Rode. Also i'm glad that this includes the deadcat, not so happy that the deadcat fit is very loose, i'm afraid it's going to move around while doing walking shots.

I got this mic as a budget option for my audio on my DSLR. The quality is fantastic. There is a slight hiss sometimes but for the most part this mic has over performed in every area. It is also one of the easiest to use mics out there because of it using power from the camera itself.

Excellent design, easy to use and does just what it is supposed to at reasonable price. I use it on dslr even when capturing audio on external device. Wind screen an added bonus and works well. My first test run was on an a boat in open water, worked like a champ, no wind noise.

Works fantastic and the mount is sturdy enough for the price. I say sturdy enough because I was so scared to break it when I first opened the package that I thought mine was faulted. You really have to turn it, the first time, to get it loose. After that, the product works just as marketed. Rode is a name brand and this is the cheap side of getting more interested in better sound recording on your DSLR.

The product is as compact as the description says. Performs just as well as my Rode VideoMic GO. My only criticism would be the loose fitting windscreen that is provided with the product. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this microphone to anyone looking for something small and versatile.

I am a big fan of RODE audio products so I trusted that this tiny microphone would work great for a portable mic kit to be used with my iPone 11. I was not disappointed. I have been using the outstanding RODE Videomic Go, but it is just too large a mic to take on the go. This VideoMicro sounds just as good. I am also very impressed that B&H sells it in a kit with the TRRS cable necessary for iPhone audio. (Something the other RODE resellers do not include.)

The microphone is great but the Deadcat itself is very finnicky.. if it slides off base of the mic, theres a middle ground where is just kind of slides back and forth and doesnt stay. Also, this mic didnt come with a standard mic cover which would have been nice in case you want to switch out the deadcat with a regular foam cover. But, taking off the deadcat and trying to put it back on is difficult as you cannot put it back on completely because of the product design.

My first use of this mic was outside on a very breezy day. The camera and mic were about 8 feet from the speaker. Without the windshield the breezes were very audible. With the windshield attached the breezes were not heard yet the speaker audio was loud and clear. I was impressed with the performance from this low cost, small shotgun microphone.

This is a great option for vlogging. Much better sound than the built in mic on any camera, but will not compare to a full sized Rode Shotgun mic. Not surprising because it less than 1/2 the price. I had to user modify the mic mount to work with the cold shoe extension for a vlogging rig. Would be great if you could rotate the mount 90 degrees (with out cutting off the tabs).

Absolutely love this mic. Provides great feedback on my Canon 5d mark iii. Great product from Rhode and amazing customer service from B&H like always! Shipping was fast and product was nicely packaged. If you're contemplating on pulling the trigger for this inexpensive mic, don't wait no more. This is a great mic for all projects and just because it doesn't carry a high price tag, doesn't mean it inadequate.

I was looking for a small compact microphone for my sony a6300 when I purchased this mic. After reviewing a few clips, it was clear that there was still some static in the background, but the overall quality of sound was greatly improved. The static is easily removed in post, making the mic a perfect fit for my uses as a videographer and my budget as a college student.

I set this up on a boom stand for YouTube videos after seeing a recommendation for it, and I have to say for 60 bucks, this thing performs exceptionally well. My room is really bad with reverb and putting this mic close to my mouth really cuts down on that- you still need to spend a good amount of time to come up with presets for your specific voice (or whoever's voice you're recording) but the end results far surpassed my expectations.

I shoot a lot of sports and action videos outdoors and Amarillo is an extremely windy city so tried out the microphone in winds of 15-20 mph. It performed flawlessly you could tell the wind was gusting but the sound quality was amazing.

I have a Panasonic G7 and wanted this mic as something that could keep my rig compact and yet give me good sound quality. I wanted to be able to throw it in my bag and grab it quickly if needed to get something when I'm on the go. This really worked out great for that and I think it's a product you would be very pleased with as well.
