Using with a Nikon D7000 and a Cannon H40 Palm Recorder. The unit works great. You just need to make sure you have the brackets and stuff to hold all of your gear, Mic, Light, etc.

I had to: A. Remove the mic shoe adaptor completely B. Make a shoe adaptor using strap iron, one bolt, three washers and three nuts C. Raise the mic up so the flash can open D. Turn the mic base around to prevent casting flash shadows on the subjects

We used this mic for a short Film Noir film we just finished. Sound was great, very low (if any) noise. Fit on our boom pole which made it that much more useful.
