The RODE VideoMic Me-L worked as advertised - it was very easy to start working - just plugged it right into my phone - and it captures voices very well when in an appropriate room. Excellent for a quick pickup or other short pieces.

Is a great directional Microphone especially in nosier environments. The lightning jack is not very long and most iphone case users will find that they will either need to remove their cases or modify them.

It does a decent job - its portable and convenient to use, sound quality is good if you're within maybe 6 feet or so. if youre outside doing something athletic (I film sports tutorials) its a little underpowered to do that job.

Tried two of these, thinking the first one was defective. The sound actually seems LOWER with the mic, with no noticeable change in background noise. Everyone else seems to love it, but it just didn't work for me at all. (And it's not operator error, all you do is plug it in.)

I bought this Rode mic for my online teaching set-up at home. It was super easy - plug and play, and best of all, it sounds really good! It plugs right into your lightening jack on your iPhone - no dongles or additional adapters and cables needed. Rode thought of everything.

The sound quality is impressive for the price. Wind noise is well controlled. But you need to be careful with the case for iPhones. It does not work with Moment cases. It does work with standard apple cases.
Self noise - clicks

I'm not the first to find this unusable due to self noise. It has a click every few seconds or so. The sound is exquisite besides that , but I can't use it - and I'm passed my warranty period.

This mic literally does not work. At all. We bought this because a standard iphone does a terrible job in interviews and the reviews say this does a nice job with the sound. I can assure you, it does not. We use this in conjunction with a DJI OSMO Mobile, and we get the mic so close to the subject that they end up leaning away from the phone and it STILL is barely audible. I do NOT recommend this product, though I really like my many, many other Rode Mic Products.

It's easy to use and small but not sure if this would work if you have a bulky iPhone case. I haven't noticed a huge improvement in audio quality when I use it. Not as much as I expected at least.
Fragile flange connector prone to breakage

Be aware the flange that's inserted into the phone is flimsy and prone to breaking. That's the only reason why I had to make this replacement for an otherwise good quality mic.

Although it says on the box it fits iPhones 5-11, It doesn't fit ANY of them because it has a USB C connector not a Lightning connector. Found this out on the set!

Purchased this as a means to easily capture audio while video recording from an iPhone but it only seems to work through the rode recorder app, which doesn't capture video. not ideal.

This mic did not clip securely into my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Falls out. Also my iPad Pro Max will not accept the lightning jack. Very disappointing.
