This is an excellent mic to replace low end camera mounted mics that come with consumer rigs or for consumer cameras that don't come with an external mic. Far, far from pro, but nice for home movie types or for school video programs (where I use it).

I've only used it a few times so far but it seems to work way better than the onboard mic on the 5D Mark II.

An excellent quality product as expected from Rode. Well balanced and perfect for the use it was designed for. Comes with Dead Kitten wind screen that performs really well.

I got this mic for my Sony Hdr-Fx1. It is way better than the built in one. Also has a great -10 db filter that is very useful in a noisy ambiance. I definitely recommend this product; I guess is the best stereo microphone that you can get for this money

Excellent performance, adds stereo to Canon 7d. Avoids limitations on audio inherent on the camera body mike. Travels well. Comes with the dead kitten cover, so you don't need to buy an extra.

I use this mic with my hdrfx1. Recording live music and theatre. The quality and detail is surprisingly good. A great mic for the money. A little on the heavy side but great performer. It pics up all ambient sounds, wantend and unwanted. I am stunned by the value

This is an awesome product. Blows away the on board Mic and the stereo sound is amazing. Its slightly large but built well and looks like It'll last forever.

Very good sound quality. Works great with a boom pole and as a shotgun mic. MUCH better than the built in mic in the camera. THanks!

I use it mostly for live concert audio, it does a pretty good job in super loud conditions.

I got this mic to use with the 5dmkii specifically for a documentary project. Impressed by the construction, disappointed by the amount of hiss. Decent overall audio quality.

I use this product mainly on Reception footages on weddings. It will filter loud music and no more audio clipping for my video camera sound recording.

This mic produces excellent quality stereo sound. It has a very solid body. The size is a little larger than I expected and a little heavier, but still a great product.

Works well with DSLR and isolation is a plus. DSLR is a different animal from a shoulder mount camera and isolating the mic helps immensely. You will need to purchase a screw in hot shoe mount.

maybe i doing something incorrect.. but the low end bass and drums is causing major distortion. I had levels way down too, didn't touch the reds at all. Any suggestions? I will admit the music was loud and i was right in front of the speakers -- maybe it's just too much for this mic to handle?

So far I am very happy with this mic. I am using it with Panasonic HDC-TM900 camcorder and there is only one small problem. When installed with Windbreaker - there is interference in max zoom position. Solved this with installing hot shoe extension - this lifted the mic a bit and no more problems.
