First off I want to thank B&H Photo for their fantastic service and fast shipping in getting this mic to me. I am using it on my band new Sony HXR-MC2500 video camera which I just bought at B&H Photo. The stock mic that came with this camera picks up and record every vibration from the camera. My new Rode's mic has a perfect isolation system that does not transmit any vibration what so ever and I can use it on all of my cameras to include my DSLR. I luv it. Thanks again to all the good folks at B&H you guys RULE. :-) ... More

Very high quality sound capture and great stereo L+R phasing. The build quality is superior as well. Love the small toggle switches for power (and the LED) and high pass filter, etc. Positioned to be easily seen and accessed. Even the 9v battery compartment is well designed. No wires and a pad to attach to the battery ... there are fixed contacts in the compartment. Well thought out. Using with my new Canon 7D body for video recordings. Superior to the mono built-in mic on the 7D. A bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for here and I see this lasting a long time. ... More

I purchased this mic, originally, to be used on my Canon GL2 camcorder. After recording a vocal concert, I was impressed with the overall quality of the captured audio. The Canon GL2 has a very good on-board mic, but this seemed to give a more true sound to the video. Since then I have found that this is a wonderful mic to use with digital audio recording equipment. I've used it with Sony mini disc recorders and the H2 Zoom. The only disappointment came when using it mounted to my Canon GL2 in a quiet setting. The mic picked up the sound of the camcorder's telephoto lens motor. This was surprising since the mic is mounted on a rubber band like shock mount. Even with that.. I'm more than happy that I purchased this mic. ... More

I use this mic with Canon Rebel t2i (EOS 550d) to record live classic concerts. You can find examples of the live organ concerts recordings (EOS 550d+StereoVideoMic) at http://youtube.com/organmsu. The only problem is the noise, which canon preamp generates. Still, the sound is very deep and rich, so is the sensitivity. For me, the quality is sufficient for youtube, besides that there's little choice - external preamp+MagicLantern is not an option for me, too much bother. Things which are not so great it captures every noise from the sides (as it's not directional), so you have to stand as close as possible. ... More

Okay, so I'm a sound guy at heart. Always have been. Concert footage with tiny sound from onboard camcorder mics just didn't cut it. I have a Canon HV30 which has pretty good onboard mics but the improvement in stereo seperation and frequency range extention are very apparent. Rode also includes a dead kitten wind sock and extra rubber bands for the support. The Mic is all metal, even the mounting support. I regularly lift the camcorder by the mic when putting it away or taking it out. The mic has a 10 year warranty and I don't expect I will need it. Great purchase! ... More

This is a great microphone, it really is built like a tank. It improved the quality of my films by about x10, it really is that good. Everything is tucked up in one small package. The Cat cover works really nicely, just be sure none of the cat hair gets into your shot. I ruined and entire shot because of the cat. But thats just operator error. I probably dropped it two times in one day, without any problems or damage to the mic, I was quite surprised and relieved. It's a great step up from the Mono shotgun Video mic, but its for a diffrent purpose. But it is built much tougher, and much heavier. I use this with my Canon Gl-2 and its a great combination. ... I spent a lot of time looking around for an external microphone for my new Canon 7D and finally settled on this one. I have absolutely no regrets. Operation is simple and easily picks up sound that internal mics can't. The only thing that I wish was a little more clear are the directions regarding the use of the low noise circuitry - I had to search reviews on the internet to find out more about how and when to use it.

I really love this mic. The sound quality is very clear and crisp with a smooth bass tone. It's hard to find a STEREO mic for your camcorder, theres really not to many out there. The stereo quality is very good and has a nice depth to it. I use it with the Panasonic HMC-40 for filming bands and it's almost got a live studio quality sound to it. It comes with a LIFETIME warranty if you register on their website also! How can you beat that!

Canon SLR cameras with HD video rectroding capacity have a good to grreat quality HD videos but audio recording is terible. Adding the above microphone adds a new life to the quality of HD video. Other option for big event is to add direct in line sound from the mixer. I strongly recommend to add this microphone if you want to enjoy the HD videos from SLR cameras with a good sound quality.

I expected good quality from this, but it blew me away! I've been in music much longer than I have been dealing with video, and this is definately a quality mic that has an amazingly natural stereo image. It picks up low tones flawlessly, which I was not expecting! Btw, I am using an HV-20 camcorder, if you are using something small like this you can unscrew the shaft between the shoe and the shock mount and flip it around, that way the mic sits further back and the dead kitten doesn't get in your shots.

I bought this mic to use on my Canon EOS 7D for video recording. Being used to broadcast gear, I realized how beneficial a good stereo mic is when compared to a mono shotgun when it comes to disipating wind noise. This mic will not disappoint and has excellent noise rejection and a great capture field. It's a well built mic that is easily worth the upcharge over a shotgun mic, even if you don't need to record stereo. The included dead kitten mic sock is different. I'm used to foam socks but the kitten is typically used on high end zepellins so it should be a plus. I just haven't had the chance to test it yet. Probably because I'm a dog guy, not a cat fan - LOL. ... More

I bought this mic to replace my Rodos mono mic. I used it along with my Sony AX53 CC and my Canon 80D. The mic works great on both. The AX53 comes with a front top mounted 5.1 mic but it has to be recording in 1080p and not 4K. The stereo mic is far supperior then both on board mic's. The one dumb problem I had was forgetting to turn it on, my bad... Other wise it's a great addition to my video equipment. Also it may be a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

This is my second Rode mic; the first being the Videomic (monaural). I think microphones are a little like restaurants-- when I find one I like, I generally stick with the brand. This Stereo Videomic is amazing, and it really does put on-board video microphones to shame, both in motor noise isolation, and in overall sound quality. I am using it on my Sony FX-1, and I couldn't be happier with the results. A real plus is that the price is very reasonable.

I bought this mic for use on a Canon XHA1 video for airshow shooting. Using the dead cat, and careful attention to the audio meter, it is perfect. It is not a shot-gun mic, but you will get rich, clear overall audio of aircraft. The three switches on the mic: on/off, Level cut and high pass filter are useful. The on/off switch has a green or red LED that lets you know if your battery is good. You have good ambient sounds at the source and good pickup of aircraft in the distance without peaking from engine blasts.

In the process of shooting some professional video work with my Pentax K7 Camera and this Microphone is the perfect sound source. My first experience was some guys installing a roof with blow torches and the sound is totally phenomenal. I can't wait to give it a workout with musicians and some film concepts I am working on.

This is a great mic, easy to use, light, and good looking, it seems pretty rugged too; I have not used the dead kitten so I can not review it's effectiveness; but it is nice that it is included. I used this mic with my Canon 7D; it gave great stereo sound; the only downfall is that your subject needs to be relatively close to you, if not the sounds drops rapidly. Nevertheless, even though I returned the 7D (getting a 5D MKII) I kept the microphone. For next time, I will also get a shotgun mic for those shoots that require more distance, or get wireless lapel mics. ... More

use this with panasonic HMC40 for recording live music. nice clear mic with good dynamic range. used it outdoors during band practice, inside a gym, and indoors in a home. none of these are acoustically ideal, but the rode mic performed well given the situation. i like the 9V battery because i can carry some spares and not worry about running out of juice.

Even with cameras with no audio level controls (like the Canon 7D), this mic manages to deliver amazing sound quality. The size and weight are minimal, the shock mount is excellent. My only minor quibble is the non-detachable audio cable, which is the only weak link in an otherwise rugged design. While it's no substitute for shotgun or lav mics close to subject, it at least gives usable audio as backup and to sync double system audio much more easily.

This little mic is super easy to use, very light, mounts easily onto your hot shoe and records great stereo sound. I use it for my Canon 5D Mark II, and since built0in mic is horrible, I needed to buy something more powerful. RODE solved all my sound issues and I am very happy with the purchase!
