I've been testing out this mic, and I am amazed so far. I did some vocal testing and a test playing guitar, and the audio is crystal clear. I noticed that other comparable shotgun mics seem to muffle the audio, but the NTG-1 sounds open and crisp. I also love that the mic is pretty small and very light. I am highly satisfied!

A great little microphone that performs exceptionally well in outdoor conditions even with only the included windscreen. Perhaps consider buying a 'dead cat' to improve performance or reduce its sensitivity to wind. I am fully satisfied with my purchase.

Bought this mic for my son's game streaming. It is a big improvement over the old dynamic mic he was using and better than the headset mic. It's placed overhead at about 20" away at about a 45 degree angle over his monitor. It's out of the way and doesn't pick up much off-axis noise. He is very happy with the new setup. It sounds like him on the Twitch steams!

I got this because I film a wide variety of things. The RODE shotgun microphone gives me the ability to film all these varying shoots and receive quality audio that, with some slight work, is ready for professional use.

A great complimentary accessory for my Sony HXR-NX100. Works great for recording our chorus from the back of the auditorium.

So far this has been an excellent microphone. The Rode NTG-1 paired with the Tascam DR-60d is a killer combination.

First I am not a professional but I have been the photography for many of our community projects for years. This mic has open a whole new world for me. The sound is awesome. You may pay more but the quality of sound can't be much better.

I make advertisements and short films constantly and I needed a good boom mic, and this thing delivers. Gives good tone and rich bases. It is kind of sensitive to the wind, even with a wind buster but still a solid mic.

Used it on the street & in the studio. Tracked into a Mac indoors and a Zoom outdoors. Also tracked into an iPad via Presonus iTwo and Capture. Clean and quiet. Background is greatly reduced. Lightweight and easy on the shoulders with Rode boom pole.

I use this microphone to record live stage performances like school plays and concerts. It works really well and has a nice sound to it. My only complaint is the lack of battery operation wich I knew about when I bought it but became really inconvenient after usage.

I used it for a conference recording the Mayor give a speech. I was also plugged into the board, but that audio was unusable. Thank goodness for this mic. It picked up everything, even the questions being asked by the crowd that did not have mics. This is a very sensitive mic and it records good quality sound. Picks up echo in the room though, of course.

My TV production students use this mic in the field and it picks up great sound! We have an NTG-1 & NTG-2 and both mics are awesome. Would definitely recommend if you plan on getting quality sound in the field!

I bought the mic to use for Video/Audio Podcast Conversations/Interviews. The mic picks up great audio and is very versatile. I can mount it to the hotshoe, or on a boom. Depending on the circumstance, it's a pretty great all around mic.

I bought this mic to use in voiceovers. I chose the NTG-1 because I didn't need the battery capability of the NTG-2. The mic delivers as promised, and sounds best if worked about 30 degrees off axis. The carrying pouch and windscreen are handy.

Very clear sound, perfect microphone to mount on my camera. It requires phantom power, but that really isn't much of an issue for me. I wanted the smallest, best shotgun I could get, and this is it. It will also work just fine on the boom pole I will be purchasing soon.

Compares favorably to a Senn 416 in warm rounded sound for voice.
