I bought this microphone for my Nikon camera. That fit perfectly and works great. Also, when you use the camera zoom, the micro doesn't record any noise. But if I use the own Camera micro the noise of the zoom is recorded. Thanks, Marcos Sotto

Solid, compact, well-built mic. I wish the frequency response covered a tad bit lower, but this is just personal preference. Us it anytime you shoot video, much better than the internal mic.

I use this microphone on my Nikon D300s and D600 when I use them to video. The sound reproduction is great and I haven't experienced the lens motor noise as indicated by some reviewers. I only wish Nikon provided a longer audio cable.

The mic is ok, but not the best out there, it is great to capture in a rich way the environment noise. Build quality is nice. For a 100 dollars more you can get the more professional rode mic.
Fills a need

This mic improves the sound quality on my D7100 that I use for high school and youth football. The built-in mic was OK, until I shot a game in windy conditions. The ME-1 comes with a wind scree. And a low-cut filter that takes a lot of the rumble out.

Difficulty in inserting to the camera shoe

The microphone is set into one direction. There is no way to shivel it to a different direction. In order to locate the microphone to face outward, the plate can not be inserted to the camera shoe. I can not slide it to the shoe.

The intention this purchase was reduced pickup of focusing noise during video recording. Unfortunately, the pickup of focusing noise was as high or higher than the integral microphone. As such, I returned the ME-1. I am expecting to receive a pre-amp that will allow me to use a shotgun mic. I anticipate that it will achieve the goal.

The product has a little bit of noise when picking up audio, but with some tweeking the microphone is really handy and very useful on set. Not really useful for full quality audio but when you need something quick or don't mind post editing it is a very good deal.

I am not a high end audio file. I used this mic to make instructional videos. it worked well and i am satisfied with it. Typically, i buy the same maker parts when getting accessories. i figure that they will work well together because the maker would have tested it.
Small microphone, better than built-in one

The ME-1 is a small mic, installed on the hot shoe. It gives better results than the built-in mic of the camera. On the other hand, it doesn't give the best results one can get, but it is not supposed to -- it is a compromise between very good results and a small equipment.

I have only had a few days with it but can already tell audio quality versus built-in is far superior. Sounds not muffled and record accurately. The compact size is also a plus as easy to pack and adds little to any weight to your gear. A little cloth case similar to what comes with other lNikon lenses is an added touch. Understand this is not a high-end cinema quality piece but for the occasional video shooter this should handle about 90 % of your needs. I have not regretted the purchase,
