This is a very compact soundbar! It measures just 39cm wide and a depth of just 7.2 cm. This was perfect for what I needed it for but, how does it sound? I’m not an audiophile so I wasn’t expecting nuanced mid-range, multi-faceted bass and a crystal top end. What I wanted was clear sound with the richness of added bass and access (if needed) to more volume than my TV’s internal speakers could provide. The Majority Bowfell provided all of this and more. First of all, it doesn’t come with PhD level instructions, it’s a tiny booklet that pictorially identifies that connections available, where the leads supplied are plugged in and how to connect the device to your tv. There was also a label stuck to the top of the soundbar which gave more clear instructions about connection. This also had the added bonus of being easy peel so it came of without leaving a mark! This is of particular importance because the case of the soundbar is finished in piano-black plastic. Personally, I like that as it gives it an expensive look but some people complain because it can be a bit of a fingerprint magnet. The good news is, once in place, the soundbar won’t need to be moved but, if any blemishes become apparent, a microfibre cloth will sort that right out. I chose to use my own optical lead to connect to my T.V but Majority also supply RCA and line-in cables so all bases should be covered. Once I’d followed the very simple instructions the soundbar was up and running. The first thing I noticed before fiddling with any of the settings was how clear the sound was. I could hear echo, discern the effect of surroundings on the audio track and, more importantly, there was no ‘muddiness’ to the sound. This was the main issue I had with my TV’s internal speakers. I turned up the volume to full while playing ‘Hypnotize’ by Notorious B.I.G and, let’s just say, I won’t need to do that again but the speaker more than handled the extra bass offered by Biggie and chums. This is no doubt due to the onboard subwoofer. I was impressed because you always expect distortion and rattle when you go max power; but none was evident here. Having the dedicated bass bin is a real added bonus for all the low frequencies, not just heavy bass but it also enhances the spoken word so whether you’re listening to dance music or a podcast, the sound is perfectly balanced. The remote is very simple but nicely designed. Puts me in mind of the old iPod Nano and that’s no bad thing, it gives the package a premium feel. The buttons are rubberised and very tactile. They click satisfyingly when pressed and there is no detectable lag between press and action. I wish I could say that about all my remotes. My T.V doesn’t have Bluetooth connectivity but, my phone and P.C do. I was particularly interested in whether it would connect to my Windows Laptop as this has always proved hit and miss. I needn’t have worried. When I fired up the Bluetooth it was waiting for me to click on! Connection was instant and performance was flawless. Same with my iPhone 11. Apple devices can also be picky about what they will or won’t connect to so I was very happy to see the soundbar was instantly available and instantly connectable! This will come in handy when I want to listen to a podcast when I’m doing the ironing! I’m very happy with this soundbar. It ticks all my boxes and does a fine job compared to what I’ve been used to. Its really spoiled me to be honest, something costing this little isn’t often this good. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this product to anyone looking for a soundbar to enhance the sound range of T.V, its perfect for that. Its also an admirable Bluetooth speaker which is super connectable. I’ve done a pros and cons list but I really should point out that the cons list is nit-picking to the max! I wanted to upgrade my speaker for my pc so I thought this seemed perfect. It has Bluetooth too which is an added bonus. Connecting it to the pc was easy just with a 3.5mm jack. Functions are pretty easy to work. The remote is simple. The speaker can handle medium sound levels. It plays a song loud enough to groove too, but can't handle loud enough to annoy the neighbours. Cracks and skips when you go louder. The Bluetooth sometimes skips even when phone is beside it. Not great I wanted better. Tried to get a refund with argos. They were sweet enough and arranged a pickup to return it. They were to pick it up on Tuesday but I was up at the woman's house on Tuesday and forgot all about it. Came home there was a wee yellow note saying you missed argos pickup. It was an external dispatch company so it didn't give instructions about what to do next. I thought maybe id get an email from argos but nah. I mean, I could have put in for the refund again or contacted customer service but I didnt. I just couldn't be bothered with any hassle in my life and BTW I was using away at it. It set perfectly beside ontop of my desktop at ear level. It's good crisp sound on normal mode. I don't normally need it really loud. And I barely use the Bluetooth, life sort of happened and before I know it months has passed and I'm still using it. Guess I'll keep it but not the best. Misleading information in description

I looked at many options on Argos and they all state HDMI lead not included. I decided to buy this and bought the HDMI lead also. I set it up and there is no HDMI port! Took the lead back to exchange for an optical lead and they refused as it had open it! They looked at the description and it said HDMI port not included. I think this is misleading as I thought I needed the lead as per all other sound bars listed. Why would you say a port is not included? A port is part of a unit, not something you can add on! I agree I was misled but I don’t think it’s fair not to swap the lead as their description in ambiguous. I bought this to upgrade my television speakers. For under £40 I can't believe how good it is. It has a very full tonal range however I suspect the bass may not be quite so low if it's positioned on a flimsy table. I have it on a heavy wooden stand above a draw and it sounds amazing. For the price you can't go wrong.

I bought this to improve the muffled sound on many programs and films. It does that quite well but the supplied headphone cable does not support multi-channel sound (just stereo), blue tooth won't stay connected on my TV and it has a noticeable delay when working anyway. So, you will need to buy an optical cable because it is not included in the package.

So I purchased this for my brother-in-law he has just purchased a brand new TV and the sound quality of the TV was terrible. Now this soundbar was cheap and the quality of it was surprisingly good. It added much-needed bass and the audio was clear, for the cost I would highly recommend this product. Also, Bluetooth connectivity is a bonus as you can cast music straight for you phone. Go get one 👍

I have tried sound bars in the past, but with poor results. They were complicated to set up, and the TV had to be raised up to clear the bar so as not to block the r/c signal. This bar doesn't block the signal at all. Setting it up was simplicity itself. Only three ways to connect it. Optical cable, 3.5mm Aux plug (earphone socket), or Bluetooth. This is used in the kitchen with a smallish tv. It is fine most of the time but does not like it when the tv is being used to look at e.g. bbc iplayer or itvx. Then there is a dreadful noise which means going back to using the speakers in the tv and turning off the sound bar. This means I would only recommend the product with provisos.

I bought this sound bar on 20th December 2022 to supplement the speakers on my smart tv. The smart tv speakers on their own are not loud enough to appreciate the program being shown. This sound bar was on the cheap side but gave the volume response we were looking for without the many connecting wires of our previous surround sound cinema system!

Bought to improve the sound clarity of my 10 year old TV . The sound is much clearer now and I’m delighted with this purchase. I used an optical cable to connect as opposed to RCA connection. Using Bluetooth I also listen to the radio and music on my iPad. The unit can’t be connected by hdmi. At this price it’s a sound no brainer, highly recommended.

I bought this item as my audiologist suggested it might help my hearing the TV as the sounds comes from the back. It was reasonably easy to connect once I established which lead to use and it does help. I use it with the volume up high on the Sound Bar and then control it further with the TV remote. It is good value for what I needed it for. I did not want/need surround sound or anything for films etc. My TV (Sony) is over 10 years old and it connected OK as mentioned.

What it is? A decent cheap compact stereo soundbar speaker that is compact, easy to use and gives you the sound quality your modern TV didn't. What it is not... A super high fidelity, subwoofer mega bass cinema surround speaker. Basically improves the tonal depth of your TVs audio making it more comfortable and pleasing to listen to. Anyone using the TVs inbuilt down firing speakers needs one of these, whether they realise it or not. I bought two for my 2021 43" and 2022 32" LG TVs.

Picked up two of these as size-wise seemed to fit what i needed. Sound quality was poor, bass essentially non-existent and had a constant hiss when turned on. Returned both of these and will look at alternatives.

I bought this for a TV which has very poor sound. The Bowfell speaker has a reasonable sound but its ability to connect is a little problematic. Using an Optical Cable its does not support HD channels. Using Bluetooth it seems impossible to marry the image and audio together. It is best suited to sound devices only in my opinion.

Great little sound bar . Just over a foot long , so easy to find a forward firing position for . The sound projection is much better than my LG tv's . I used an optical cable for the set up ( not provided ) , and it worked straight away . The remote is a bit flimsy , but for the price I'm not complaining . Basically , if you want a device to provide window rattling power , then look elsewhere , but if you want something affordable to improve your tv , then it's a bargain ... More

I am really impressed with this soundbar, don't be deceived by its size because it punches above its weight. Well balanced sound with sufficient bass without that thudding aspect. Really enhances sport and films, the one minor irk is the lack of a volume indicator but the overall quality more than compensates. Really could not believe the price and its Made in England

This is a decent product for the price. I like that it has a remote control and that it does not make any wheeezing/static noise. The equaliser is not great but it offers a bit of choice, unlike other bars without any equalising. It does not operate on batteries but if this is not an issue for you, then this bar is a decent choice.

Bought this a couple of weeks ago. Had limited space so this compact unit fitted in perfectly. The sound is clear , a great improvement over the speakers in the flat screen TV, especially for the price. Very simple to install, plug in power, aux & select "aux" from the remote Plenty of volume for most types of viewing .
