Takes beautiful photos, when it works
First camera I bought worked fine until it had an electronic meltdown 1 month after the warranty expired. Second camera was returned after 2 days because of unexplained grey spot in every image. Now on my third camera in 14 months.

Best pocket camera I've ever used
I bought this camera for my wife. She loves to take photos of just about everything. This camera takes outstanding photos even in Program mode.She's not much for shooting outside of Auto mode. However, I love the other features, especially the Sweep Panorama making it so, so easy to take those super wide shots. This camera is AWESOME!! Im coming from a Canon 7d, Sony NEX 7 and Panny GH3 and this little guy blows my mind every time I use it. Of course, I never use manual with my bigger cameras...BUT the RX100 is amazing for whipping out of your pocket, turning it on, set your zoom/focal length and SNAP (IN AUTO!)... amazing pic! Better than average point and shoot.
I use the camera for professional travel photography. It's a compact and solid, point and shoot camera. The lens and sensor are professional quality. You can capture both RAW and JPEG. It requires the purchase of a filter adapter to use 49mm filters, but it's worth it. Since a battery charger is not supplied, you should buy an extra battery and charger.

Excellent point and shoot camera
Takes great pictures in low light indoor and outdoor. What I could have done is to spend the extra $ dollars for the version ii which come with wireless function, tilted screen and higher ISO

compared to my panasonic lumix
although I do like my new camera, it is not as great an improvement aa I had hoped for. I like the color better on my panasonic lumix... I like the resolution better on my new Sony... when I get the light / exposure just right the sony is fabulous. but it is harder to get the beauty of the colors to show on the sony.. more often the lumix photos look 'prettier' but perhaps not as exact. Makes me look like a pro!
The ease of operation is amazing! Read the manual and become a genius! We adore this camera. It does high tech shots with special effects we never dreamed we could manage. It is small, easy to hold and care. Seems tough enough to stand a tumble or two.

small camera, lovely look!
Plan to use it instead of my cell phone camera. It does fit inside a front jeans pocket, so portability is good, and so one of my major concerns is gone. Burst mode is good. Still experimenting and learning.

Great little camera
The RX100 is a small camera that delivers great results. It's size allows it to be carried at all times, while it's IQ punches well above its weight. The lens is sharp and covers a good focal range. The camera gives good results up to ISO 1600 and the MFNR allows the camera to be used in lower light (still subjects). Focusing is fairly fast and very accurate, Peaking makes manual focus a breeze. All in all a fantastic little camera.

Excellent point and shoot camera!
Extremely impressed with the quality and the wide-ranging functionality from this little camera. And it's even small enough to put in your pocket like a true point and shoot should be. Excellent walk-around camera and minimalist travel camera. (My main work cameras are a Nikon D4 and D600, so I really appreciate the quality and size of this pint sized power house for when I'm not working.) Only catch is you have to take the time to learn the menu's to get the most out of it.

Excellent Point and Shoot
Bought this camera to replace a broken DSLR that we used previously. We were looking for something smaller that we could carry around easier to catch photographs of the kids, etc, but still get good photo quality. The camera is great and takes excellent photographs even in low light scenarios.

Interesting camera
This is a niche camera... I am a serious amateur with several high end DSLRs and lenses but I was looking for a small good quality camera to throw in a bag...excellent build ( except for flash)...great picture quality...weird ergonomics..no viewfinder...but tiny and feature rich...as usual B & H were exceptional!

Amazing quality in a small package
The photo quality on this camera is amazing. I researched on several different camera sites and chose the Sony RX100 as my go to camera for travelling. It did not disappoint! Low light shots are crisp and clear. The built-in sports mode captured some hysterical facial expressions at a bowling party - something really hard to focus on (due to the motion). I've been generally very pleased with this camera as a sub for my DSLR and find I carry it around my neck a lot, taking out the big bag only for planned photo projects. Unfortunately, the RX100 suddenly stopped recognizing its memory card recently, and swapping other cards didn't help. I sent the camera back to Sony, and even though the warranty had technically expired a month before, the Laredo Repair Center fixed it and sent it back promptly with a detailed report of the replacement parts--and no charge for the service. Thanks, Sony!

Amazing Camera...
Being just a casual photographer, I've always used upper end point and shoots with generally acceptable results. Not a pro. I want the best camera I can have in my pocket, go anywhere, anytime. No bags of lens', straps, bags and such. Great pictures. I love the standard settings which really do the job. Macro is much more than expected. Limitations yes. The zoom is very limited but the easy take anywhere size is worth it.

I purchased the RX100 to carry with me when I wasn't lugging my DSLR (D800) around. I wanted something lightweight, small, but with RAW capability and a decent sensor. Great little camera, but...
I recently purchased this camera thanks to reviews I read on B&H and in the NYTimes about a year ago. I love this camera, but I am having issues with the quality of the photos. In the beginning, the quality was crystal clear, but lately my photos are coming out blurry and not clear. I even purchased a tripod to keep the camera steady. My photo quality is still poor.
