Good, if you keep your expectations realistic! :)

PROS: - 4 X bigger sensor than normal superzoom cameras. - Large zoom range. - Relatively light (considering the lens' size). - Tons of customizations. - Low chromatic aberrations. - Good quality images. - Pretty accurate color reproductions. - External hot-shoe. - Triple lens-ring configuration for Aperture, Focus and Zoom. - Zoom step-setting for professional zoom standard values. - 72mm lens thread for attaching filters. - 4K video. - High bur... Amazingly Good Images

Aug 26, 2016

Like any camera, the number of stars that it deserves really depends on how well it fits your own particular needs and this one fits mine very well. Ive been shooting with Nikon DSLRs since the D70 (and film SLRs since way before then) and I dont intend to give them up. But my fully loaded bag weighs over 20 pounds and there are some less demanding situations where I dont need that level of gear. Think of family pictures, vacation photos, etc. So... Show More

Video gets short changed

Sep 5, 2016

My experience with the RX10 iii reinforced everything I probably should have known about the difference between a camcorder and a camera. I'm a professional videographer - not a photographer, and not a filmmaker. I wanted a sidekick that could also fill a niche or two in event coverage that I do. My pro camcorders are bulky, and weigh well over 5-pounds apiece. They don't lend themselves to being slung over the shoulder everywhere you go for thos... Show More

Bad Usability But Amazing Vids

So when this first arrived I almost wanted to send it back just because of the interface and feel in hand. However after I started comparing Images and videos to other cameras I've owned like the GH4 It started to warm on me. Hard to believe it's a 1 sensor as every video I took (4k only) out performed my GH4 with a Panasonic12-35mm lens and 100-300mm Lens. Pics were a draw though. Here are some of the pro's and cons as I see it from a Video firs... Show More

Capable Uber Point and Shoot

May 17, 2016

Quickly sealing the gap between a fully fledged SLR and compact travel zoom, the Rx10m3 aims to pleaseas a jack of all trades. It's a remarkable feat of photographic technology, with caveats, of course. I picked the Rx10m3 to supplement my LX100 (lack of reach) and Fuji XF system. I specifically needed a single lens camera that is both rugged and can handle most photographic challenges I may come during my motorcycle travel. That environment is v... Show More

Love the camera. DON'T EXPECT CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM SONY .

i recieved my new camera a little over a week ago. Came fast and in perfect condition from B&H. Once you see where everything is inside the menu, its a learning curve but fairly easy if you're used to dslr style. The images are sharp and clear, and i love the quiet and pretty fast zoom. there is a short lag when extending to 600..VERY short. i could still catch the bird :) It has a LOT of features i have yet to discover, one i played with was the... The Ideal Travel Camera & Good Audio w/ Ext Mic

Jun 2, 2017

As an owner of Sony's large S35 cinema cameras, I'm pretty particular about image quality. With an upcoming Japan trip though, I didn't want to lug around a fully-kitted cine camera through airports and on bicycles in Tokyo. Plus, I wanted to be more discreet. Having read several good reviews on the RX10 mk III, after looking at an offering from Panasonic, it was the side by side image comparisons that caused me to look into the Sony offering. I ... My Vacation Companion

Jun 22, 2016

I earn my living shooting for advertising (www.pacomarquez.com). Every year when I go on vacation it has been a nightmare deciding which camera to take with me. I've gone from carrying one pro camera body, a 28-70 with a 70-300 to a small Panasonic with a zoom and a 50mm. Still felt uncomfortable carrying that but feeling underequiped at the same time. Then I saw B&H's video on the RX10 II and dug deeper. I was convinced this would be the camera ... Show More

Not Worth The Reach, Maybe

May 30, 2016

I'll start by saying that I run full-frame Canon glass on a Canon 6D and adapted to an a7Rii. The RX10iii was meant to be a 4K replacement for my old Panasonic FZ150, which I now use as a great everyday beater. It is primarily a video camera for action (auto racing) and a stills camera second when I don't want to carry the heavier full-frame gear. It's a much more versatile camera (one lens) than the 6D and a7. The biggest reason I bought the Son... Show More

Almost Perfect

I love this camera despite a few drawbacks. This is the most versatile camera I have ever owned. One lens does it all, and very well. I like to do urban street photography, and this lens puts me anywhere I want to be with stunning results at all focal lengths, and in all lighting conditions. While I am a serious hobbyist, I am not a pro. I have replaced my full-frame camera and all it's lenses with this one, relatively light camera. The only reas... Show More

Review of Sony Cyber Shot RX10 iii I have been using the Sony Cyber-Shot RX10 iii for a couple of months. During that time I have taken several hundred images mainly nature and scenic shots. Frankly, I have been amazed at the quality and detail that the 1 sensor has been able to deliver. The 24 -600mm Zeiss, 35mm equivalent, lens is excellent! It delivers beautifully sharp images, right out to 600mm with good color and reasonable bokeh. The actua... Show More

Versatile but heavy

May 20, 2016

I'm gonna keep my III. It's just so versatile. Stills look better than any 1 out there and video is even better. I have owned two Is, one II and now the III. So there's the good. Now the OK and suspect. First, this thing is one heavy son of a gun. It doesn't bother me since I've lugged around betacams half my life. For me the extra heft helps stability. However I can see how for some it can become burdensome. Second, not a great macro focus camer... Show More

I absolutely love this camera!

Feb 22, 2017

I am a serious photographer - I am a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography with a degree in professional photography. My usual carry-around rig as a nature photographer is a Canon 7D Mark II with a Canon 100-400 mm L lens (first generation). I love the setup. When I am traveling light, my camera of choice is a Panasonic DMC ZS40 which has given me award winning shots in a very small package. I was looking for something in between - an... Show More

Great electronics and lens poor accessories

Jul 7, 2016

To start with, I found the camera to take magnificent pictures at all focal lengths. The pictures are crystal clear and hold great color. There is ample menu options to set the camera up for your type of shooting. I use the camera mostly for wildlife photography with an occasional family shoot in between. The camera offers wonderful versatility for both of these photo shoots. The camera is slightly heavy for it's size but the strength of the body... Show More

I bought this camera to be my walk around camera for casual photos; vacations, family get togethers, etc. the fact that it has excellent movie capability is a big plus. When I received it I was surprised how big it feels and how heavy it feels in your hand. I read the specs but this camera feels bigger and heavier than what I thought. It's only a bit smaller than my Canon 7D MkII! I would rate the image quality very high considering this is a 1 s... Show More

Sony brings us another GOOD surprise

Jun 11, 2016

When you look at this camera, you must refrain from the apples-to-oranges comparisons. That is, this is a bridge camera with a 1 sensor and a honkin' 24-600 mm lens. Experience tells us not to expect too much from an arguably niche camera like this. Yeah, we've seen this type before. But preconceived notions can be wrong. This camera, for what it is, captures quite good (sometimes surprisingly good) images. The sharp Zeiss lens seems to be at its... Show More

A great stock video camera

May 23, 2016

I am giving 5 stars considering all the gravy you are getting for a point and shoot. RX100 mk3 is a daylight camera. The image quality on the files is not good enough for professional use unless the picture is well lit. The grain and noise patterns brings me back to the old days when I had a Sony F717. For night shoots, you don't want to go more than 1600iso. However, the video quality is awesome and the image stabilizer at 600mm is unbelievable.... Show More

I bought this camera for its terrific zoom lens which has an amazing range. I own a Canon III 5D. I bought this camera because I wanted a long zoom lens. Given the price of a comparable lens for the Canon, it was cheaper to buy the Sony. I have not printed any photos, from the Sony so I can not compare them against the Canon, but on the Screen the pictures from the Sony look great. I'm about to take the RX10iii on an African safari, so having a weather resistant, do everything, 2.5 lb package is much more appealing than an a6300 body + 4.5lbs Sigma 150-600 + adapters + other lenses. Jun 14, 2016

For the money, I don't see how you could beat this camera. While not perfect, it's close. I bought this because many places I encounter as a natural history filmmaker do not allow video cameras. I know it's pretty amazing that phones, DSLRs and other still cameras are allowed. They seem to ignore the fact the these cameras shoot video. I have been using the Sony DSC-RX10 III for about 6 months now, and I absolutely love it. In fact, many times it has replaced the use of my Nikon D750. The performance of the lens and sensor is so good that I recently traded in my Tamron 150-600 that I used with my D750. I found myself using the Sony more often for wildlife. It's a joy to shoot with, very light and compact when compared to an SLR with a big lens like the 150-600. Image quality is... Show More

Best everyday/travel camera

Jun 13, 2017

The following points make this camera the best everyday/travel camera: 1. 24-600mm (35mm equivalent) optical zoom range (aperture 2.4-4) 2. USB charging (you can charge it just about anywhere). Especially as a travel camera, being able to charge via USB using your vehicle's USB charger is helpful. I would recommend getting at least 1-2 batteries for a heavy day of shooting without being able to charge 3. 72mm filter adapter ring. This is a conven... Show More
