Useful for RTA / Microphone Test Set-Up

I purchased the UM2 (found the best price, at this time of posting, at Guitar Center online) as it was one of the USB devices recommended to use with the TrueRTA real-time analyzer software. My testing needs are for higher-level car audio sound system measurement, equalization, and more. This includes independent speaker testing also for both dBL levels and frequency response. As laptops have terrible built-in audio card hardware (both line in, line out, and microphone features have signicant noise levels and poor frequency response) this along with a calibrated XLR-powered microphone is used for fairly accurate RTA testing. Set up was easy, and powers my Dayton Audio EMM-6 XLR electret microphone with no problem. Windows drivers are self-installing, so no issue there either. I had issues with clipping waveforms when using the TrueRTA signal generator function, however that is due to calibration/levels, not the UM2. I left the line-out level gain at "max." on the UM2. My gripe is the low line-out level listed in the specifications ( 0dBU, or .774V RMS). This is a bit low, not sure why. Oddly enough, I have viewed a higher voltage output on my oscilloscope but not sure why. I limited my output, after line-out level calibration, to .774V per the specs. Overall, simple to use, works easily with Windows via USB (standard type A cable, included). NOTE! For using the line-in feature, you'll also need to purchase a 1/4" to RCA adapter Y cable. This little guy is the perfect entry level USB Audio Interface. It does everything advertised exactly as well as it should for the price you're paying. For being basically free (in the world of audio interfaces), it's a great little piece that will suffice until you're ready for something more expensive.
Unsupported By The Manufacturer - No Working ASIO Windows 10

Behringer decided to use the ASIO4ALL driver some time ago and discontinued writing their own drivers for this. Unfortunately, the ASIO4ALL drivers, which are made by a third party, do not work with this device and Windows 10. The original drivers that Behringer did write are available, but not on their site. Unfortunately, those drivers do not work with Windows 10 any longer. If you're using this on Windows 10 you will be forced to use the generic USB audio device drivers which are noisy, whiny, and have high latency. You're better off using your built in audio. Essentially, defeating the entire purpose of using a USB audio interface. It's a total waste of money. Now some folks have gotten the real Behringer drivers working on Windows 8 and previous, so that's something to consider. However, if you're on Windows 10, this thing is just paperweight. I'll be returning it. I've had a long policy of not buying Behringer, but considering I needed something cheap for this particular project I thought I'd roll the dice. I am a one man band with no need for multi-channel recording, so this unit works out great for me and, frankly, I don't think you need to invest tons of money in order to get a good Home Recording. The UM2 is well under $!00 and gets the job done for me. Good clean sound going in. Good unit.

Great piece of gear for simple home recording

I was nervous because I thought the price would reflect the quality. I was wrong. The thing does exactly what it says it will do, and does it well. The price reflects the fact that it isn't loaded down with features. It's simple. You want to record your voice or an instrument or both at home? This is what you need. The built in preamp was good enough to record my electric guitar without any other amplification. The XLR input has a built in 48V phantom power supply that you can switch on or off as needed. Driver's loaded first try. Less than 4 minutes after arriving at my doorstep I was successfully recording voice and guitar tests in Audacity. Not exaggerating. The only complaint I have, and it's a $2 fix, is the headphone output is 1/4 inch. My headphones were standard aux size. But this is MY complaint, and not a complaint anyone else would have since 99% of people are smarter than me and have a set of actual studio headphones. ... More

Solid enough construction, fairly easy to use, VERY disappointed that I had to register with Behringer to get the software it is supposed to come with and still have yet to receive my redemption code to get the software, could be it's cause of the Holidays but I've read some pretty terrible reviews of their customer service, can't say I have gripes about the product but im not happy with the company. Worth the 30 dollar price tag I suppose. I will not purchase their products (new anyways) again, I won't risk being left in the cold by their company.

A friend and I recently started doing our own home recordings and song compilations, knowing next to nothing about the recording part. This product is easy to use and works how we want. Our only issue is getting to record two things at once, and that may be a problem on our end, so no complaints here, for sure. I would recommend it to anyone starting out, or just wanting to record on the go.

This audio interface is well worth the money. I had mix feelings about it from the start, but as I learned how it operated (Mic and Instrument are on Left and Right audio channels). Initially I was using the instr for the mic and when I listened to the production with my headset sound only came out one side. Fix was easy - but I didn't understand why. Now I do. The headset only can monitor the mic not the instrument input - I struggled at first to figure out why my headset was not working correctly. Purchased an adapter so my mic can go into the XLR input and all worked. Reason for 4 stars was due to my learning curve... having to figure this out, but glad I did. I wanted a simple usb mixer/interface for my wife who is a professional singer, but not into using our 24 channel analog mixer or our digital mixer we use onstage. Just wanted something she could use in our modest home studio. This was her Christmas present. Bingo! She loves it. It interfaces great with her laptop that I installed a nice digital mixer in. Kudos to Behringer!
For times when a quick recording is needed it does it's job.

You can download Audacity for free record a stereo track then choose to split the stereo track to mono tracks and Walla ..your multi-tracking.

Behringer decided to use ASIO4ALL drivers instead of their own, but ASIO4ALL doesn't work properly. The dedicated drivers for this device can be found on forums, but not on Behringer's site, and they don't work properly on Windows 10. Extremely high latency, noisy, and just outright bad. DO NOT CHEAP OUT WITH THIS. Just go ahead and purchase a Focusrite Scarlett Solo or 2i2. It will be more expensive, but those work 100%. I play with a lot of gain presets on Bias FX 2, and the Scarlett does the job very well.

As a product, the UM2 does exactly what it is designed to do. It lets me send phantom power to my studio mic, monitor the mic with headphones, and capture the mic audio into my Windows PC. As for the process to get the Tracktion 4 software ... wow, that's not a simple process. You have to navigate their horrible web site, sign up for a Music Tribe account, provide datamining info so they can start spamming you with targeted marketing, then poke around the site until you finally find where to download the software. It is a very good product, simple relatively inexpensive if you want to transmit directly in streaming with a condenser or dynamic microphone. It improves a lot the vocal audio of communications through Zoom, Webex or similar. I use it with an AKG P120 microphone and it is a very useful tool for my transmissions. But if you want to do audio production or record professional audio better look for another product.

Works great for my basic needs. I wanted to plug my Shure PG58 microphone (I'm on a budget and I'm okay with that) into my Mac computer and make hobby recordings in my home office. I know it doesn't have the best specs or highest bitrates, but it sounds excellent to me and is perfect for my needs. It was plug-and-play for me, no drivers to install or anything on Mac OS 10.13 and GarageBand. For the price it simply can't be beat. I would strongly recommend for anyone having fun with a hobby and on a budget.

Behringer is upping their game in a BIG way. Not only is this U-PHORIA UM2 audio interface a steal of a deal, it's great quality. I hear the crisp/clear sounds coming out of my Behringer 150 watt monitors and my studio headphones with such resonating tone. This product is more than worth the purchase. It's a no-brainer why it's a best seller...

I've used it for home recording in Windows 10 with Reaper, running vocals and guitars through it! Also connected outputs of a larger mixer to the two channels for a stereo recording (the only thing not great about this is that the gain for both is different - understandable since one is a mic line). Recently tried using it as a stage monitor and portable monitor for my bass - works surprisingly well. I could even plug it in my android phone and practice my bass in the car!

I can't believe this is so cheap. It performs very well. Obviously, if you're a professional you'll want something a little more performant, but for me just having mic monitoring, phantom power, and adjustable volume was good enough and it does all of that very well. It's also a great DAC and I think it can even drive 250ohm cans if you don't listen too loudly.
Does what it cost, but not very well.

$30 for an interface, well, you get what you pay for. I let my computer automatically install the drivers and it works pretty good, but there is terrible floor noise, and it even carries over into recording. Direct monitoring doesn't fix it. Searched around and I found some other drivers that reduces it some but I can only listen out of one side of my earphones or the other. Never both. It's cheap, and actually delivers pretty good drive if you are looking for that overdrive distortion, but the higher you crank it, the worse the noise. This interface has everything I need for recording scratch narration in my edit suite: 48V phantom power, a decently quiet preamp, and live monitoring with negligible latency. My only complaint is that the ASIO driver conflicts with all my other apps, so I can't even listen to the audio I record with this setup, until I unplug it, which then releases the driver and allows my editing software to work again. But yeah, it works; it's cheap; I'd buy it again.
