This lens is sharp throughout all ranges. Really a great addition to the NEX-5 camera. Nice compliment to the 18-55mm kit lens. Solid construction and the zoom is smooth as silk. This lens is meant for outdoors as it obstructs the standard flash unit, for flash indoors I use the 18-55 kit lens. I highly recommend this 11.1x versatile lens.

good looking and accurate lens
I love the idea of a small camera that is both accurate and light. I am only 5 ft. tall and petite so carrying my Nikon D90 to soccer games for my grandchildren was a chore and a strain. My pictures so far have been excellent but I have not used it alot as soccer has ended and I'm not sure how it will be on moving subjects without a viewfinder. Good image quality, great handling.
Since this is the only E System lens offering this range of focal lengths, which is probably a necessity for any professional photographer using Sony's NEX cameras, it's a good thing Sony made this lens this good. Killer Lens
This lens is capable of pro quality performance, and the auto focus is superb, and very useful for someone with old eyes. Yes, in appearance it overpowers the Nex-5, like a lens with a camera attached. But that's the point, isn't it? A small, high quality camera easy to carry, discreet to use and capable of high quality images? Indoor snaps for advertising use are excellent. Portraits are super. I love this lens and have not taken it off the camera since the day I put it on.

Very Sharp and Outstanding Build Quality
First and foremost, you should be aware that you'll need another lens aside from the 18-200mm, to take flash pictures. The 18-200 lens barrel obstructs the lower part of the flash output at anything less than 50mm. Sony made a big mistake here in not supplying a 'flash extender' with the lens and at this time of writing, it is not available for purchase either. BEST LENS I HAVE EVER OWNED!
