The lens works perfect nice feel to it, it is very solid and very xey. photos are sharp, focus is fast and exact, I have it since few days in I love it.

Nice All Round Lens
I added this lens for my day hikes. I was using a wide angle and missed several wildlife photo opportunities. I do not want to change a lens in the dusty environment on the trails. I held back on purchasing this lens for months because of the slow f6.3 at 200mm. My prior super zoom experience was not great, but that was on my Canon 10D. The NEX 5 performs much better at higher ISO and the Sony 18-200 with OSS is working much better for me than my old super zoom combo. I give this 4 stars only because of the f6.3

Great IQ but slow on the draw!
In general this is a great lens. IQ is amazing and build quality is second to none. But it can be slow to focus (as others have mentioned). Don't expect to catch split second shots as by the time the lens has focussed the moment will have gone. In addition it insists on refocussing from scratch each time you release and re-squeeze the shutter, slowing things down even further. The Sony SEL18200 lens was a bit hard to find until I checked B & H. Here it was in stock and a hundred dollars cheaper than what it sells for on other sites at present. I've had many expensive lenses over the years but this one, coupled with the Nex-5 technology, is the most versatile, functional, and precise I've owned. Sony 18-200mm lens E-mount/Nex camera
I bought this lens to be the sole lens on my Nex 5 camera. I intend to use this combo for travel. I want to have the rig quickly accessible without having to change lenses. The first obstacle one has to get over is the size of the lens compared to the 18-55mm. My basis of comparison is my Nikon DSLR and the two lenses needed to equal this focal length range. Great lens (functionally and physically)
Great lens but huge. It seems disproportional. I still use the 18-55mm for most of the time because of the size, but the 18-200 has better pictures and because of the zoom ability, it really comes handy if you want to take zoom-in. Very versatile. I brought the camera for the size to begin with as I have to travel and take a lot of pictures. This lens is kind of heavy and big.

Excellent Travel Lens
I purchased this lens specifically for travel and for that purpose, it excels. It looks big on my NEX-5, but I got used to it quickly. It's comfortable to hold and feels very solid. Stabilization works well and focus is quick enough (for me) in good light. In dim light, autofocus slows down somewhat and sometimes hunts in the telephoto range. Sony is always high quality.
This Lens is expensive but it's worth. The quality is no doubt and it's perfect working with nex5. If you use nex3 or nex5, I recommend to buy this lens.

Good Build, Solid Performance
This lens features very good build quality and good optics. It is worlds better than the other two currently available E-Mount lens from Sony. This lens lives up to the excellent sensor in the NEX-3/5.

I just purchased this lense for a trip to Death Valley,ca. It works very well and takes great pictures. The only issue is that for such. A compact size its heavy.

Best lens for NEX
This lens looks a little awkward on the NEX-5, but it actually feels very well balanced with the camera in use. Unfortunately, the camera/lens doesn't sit flat (the lens is diameter is larger than the height of the camera), but you'll want to have it in your hands anyway! Sharp, contrasty, and well built. It's bulky, but no more so than other zooms of similar range and it's better built than most.

A must have for your Nex
I have had the SEL18200 for a about 3 months now. Currently, there are only two other (kit) lens available for the E mount; the very important but painfully soft 16mm, and the reasonable quality 1855. The SEL18200 is vastly superior to both and is a great investment. Size is not an issue. The only issue is the relatively slow focus, but it's absolutely tolerable. All-in-One for NEX
The NEX 5 with SEL 18200 lens (and maybe the pancake) is the perfect travel kit for those wanting to pack light. I had been using Canon's EFS 18-200 on my 7D but feel it is too cumbersome for many of the trips I take. The Canon-NEX adapter didn't allow the EFS 18-200 to work on the NEX body with AF and IS, so I ordered the SEL 18200. The range of the SEL18200 is fantastic and it definitely has an L Series quality build. I love position and ease-of-use of the lock....which dosen't really seem necessary yet as there is no lens creep to speak of.

Make this Alpha NEX standard equipment!
I use this lens mainly for long range landscapes, sports and portrature. The build quality is first rate; 15 elements in 13 groups with a magnesium alloy barrel. Some who have purchased this lens complain that it's too heavy. I disagree. balanced power
I have used this lens to shoot a gymnastics meet in a poorly lit gym, and for doing nothing other than using default settings, the results were good. I think it'l be even better when i use the sports setting, or in better light. i like the weight and the solid feel of the lens. it absolutely dwarfs the camers, but it assures me that i'm getting as much light as possible to the sensor. the zoom action is smooth and easy. the only drawback to me, is the price. i do feel i got a great lens for the price, but it'd be nice to have a few other options.

One fantastic Lens
Even though i have only had the lens for a short period of time, I find the lens is great to use for action shots, close ups and every day shooting, i was even able to sneak in some good shots of my daughter without her realising i was near her with the camera. It's got great zoom and am looking forward to using it for more occassions - weddings, parties, travel etc.

Sony 18-200 NEX Lens finally available!
Great lens, but learned I needed to get a flash extender to use the flash with the lens extended. It really should have come with the lens.

great lens for a great camera
I love this camera system! This new lends will be the one I use most often, especially when traveling. The need to lighten the load of gear is critical and this system is ideal. The results are fantastic. The camera, with it's tilt screen, accepts lens changes easily and provides the complete range of possibilities as an SLR without the weight.
