For the price you can't expect more.
Trouble is you are going to compare this to your main big TV. You will notice that the sound and picture quality is poorer but with a little tinkering can be adjusted to be acceptable although the speakers are a bit naff, but plug in your headphones and the sound is vastly improved. The remote is small and fiddly but you get used to it. The biggest plus for me was the inclusion of a proper paper manual, can easily be hung on a wall picture hook due to its light weight. Ideal for a small room.

not recommended!
sorry , can't say anything good really about this telly, the picture was poor ,in quality and colour, and as you moved around the picture faded away, like a pc monitor, the sound is very tinny and annoying to the ears! otherwise it's ok! haha ;) ...... I read all the reviews about this tv and agree with them! returned it and got a full refund, if you get a telly from Argos, they give good service, but read the rules of return before you get one, gotta be unused as new, in original box etc

Good small tele, what I expected
Only real "surprise" was that this is a BUSH tele even tho the Argos picture has ALBA in large letters! Whatever, makes no odds to me (and I beleive they might be the same unit anyway?!), this is a fully working, simple, cheap tele and does what I want it to. Sound quality is not great but it is what you expect at this price point and has a surprising volume even if it is somewhat tinny. Picture quality is fine and BRIGHT and tuner is analogue as well as digital. Has headphone socket.Very light.

Would not work with my Satellite system
Now, don't get me wrong, i'm sure with the right system this will be a good TV I bought this to use in an area where i can't get a signal in a conventional manner and am using a satellite box. The box is currently plugged into an old portable and works fine. I switched over to this new TV and had no picture or only a few seconds of picture and then a blank screen for 5 seconds. While i'm sure this will work with a digital system with a proper aerial on this occasion I had to return the TV

does the job
This is replacement for Philips Combi we had over 20 years & finally the picture went. Bought for bedroom.Took a few attempts to get it connected, finding the right socket at the back & getting the channel numbers set up finally in the right order.The picture quality is very good but can look pale/ghosty from another angle.The only complaint is the remote control which works ok pressing CH+/-, but doesn't always connect when pressing the number indiv until after a few attempts which is annoying.

TV has lots of connectivity options
I bought this TV as I needed one to connect old consoles into as I'm building a video game museum in my loft. This TV doesn't have the 3 female connections for sound/composite that some need to connect, if you can't use Scart or a HDMI cable, but a 3-way female to one male connection works in the side without any issues. Marked down as the casing won't let you use a scart adapter with the 3 leads plugged in due to the moulding - which is extremely annoying. Other than that, the TV is just fine.

Great value
Great picture quality and really easy to set up. As others have said, sound quality is not the best and I have played around with every sound setting there is!, but for a bedroom TV it's more than adequate. This TV does NOT show both channel+programme on the TV guide. There is a separate channel list and the programme guide is only on the channel you are watching, showing the next 3 shows following next on that channel. Overall, a great TV and I would recommend it. Great value for money.

Poor quality budget TV
The backlight is far too bright, depriving the picture of any depth, and the scope to adjust the picture is minimal. The sleep function is useless, as the backlight illuminates an otherwise darkened room even when switched to radio with the display hidden via the red button (there is no remote control option to switch off the display). The colours are hugely distorted if the set is viewed from any angle other than straight-on, and the EPG is displayed in a tiny typeface that cannot be adjusted.

Poor picture quality and even poorer sound.
Bought this for the kitchen. Picture quality is well below average and far worse than my 10 year old Samsung that we use in the bedroom. Sound quality is pretty naff. I have had to add an external speaker to hear the thing over the noise of our cooker hood. Final nail in the coffin is that using this as a PC monitor either via VGA (D-Sub) or HDMI is hopeless. The image quality is appalling. Also, it has very narrow viewing angles and the screen does not tilt back. Pretty poor all round. Avoid.

Perfect sized screen for a cottage sized room!
I bought this as a gift for my ex step-mother who lives alone in South West Scotland, the winter nights are long and she has very few friends. I ordered from Argos, the tv was delivered promptly & installed, now she can enjoy all the wildlife documentaries, soaps, dramas and the news! She is thrilled with her tv, I am thrilled that she has the 'company' of a tv. The product is excellent, easy for her to understand/navigate the remote (she is elderly now with not such good eyesight) Very happy!

Kitchen TV
Bought to replace previous TV because of broken switch. There are very few 19" TVs available and I do admit I would have bought one of better quality if available but I am reasonably happy with the Alba TV and would consider it fair value for money. There is quite a difference in the quality of the picture depending on the viewing angle and it took a lot of patience to set both the picture and sound to my liking. Also the instruction manual is very basic in respect of some of the menu choices.

Excellent value for money.
I am very pleased with the 19 inch Alba TV. It tunes in very easily, and mine works on an indoor Digital Ariel. The size is ideal intended for a small space using the stand supplied, where a larger wall mounted TV is not suitable. The picture is very good and the sound quality. It connects well to an Alba DVD player. The set up and menu features are clear and easy to navigate with most of the regular Freeview BBC and ITV Commercial Channels .and programme guide. Excellent value for money.

Rght Size - Wrong Innards
Picture: Good when viewed exactly from the right angle otherwise image quickly washes out particularly in the vertical plane. Sound: Tinny, weak and of dire quality regardless of settings. Reception: Fairly good using an indoor antenna situated in a basement flat. Connections: Fair but not really needed in my situation/usage. Electronic Program Guide: Electronic Program Guide (EPG) is out of the software ark! Looks like something from a Sinclair Spectrum of the 1980's and poor to use.

Poor off-centre picture
We wanted a TV for the kitchen so it needed to be small and would stand on a worktop. This TV fitted the bill, however, we found that unless you are viewing the screen dead on and at the same level, the picture deteriorates quickly as soon as you view off-centre. Contrast drops rapidly and the picture becomes unwatchable. Shame because the picture is pretty good when you are right in front of it. Also, the sound quality is quite tinny, but that's to be expected from a small, cheap TV.

Decent, for the price
Decent quality picture, decent quality sound. I bought it with a Fire Stick and have also connected music etc via the USB, and the connectivity works very well. My only real bugbear is the size of the EPG on the screen; the text is very small. The recorder scheduling is a bit glitchy but as I have access to "on demand" TV this is probably not going to be a problem for me. Ideal for a small-medium sized bedroom, I'd say. Overall I'm happy with the TV, it does the job I wanted it for.

Ideal for kids bedrooms
Bought two of these 19inch tvs for my son's as Easter presents . Best decision I have ever paid for. Excellent quality. Both boys use theirs for both DVD/blu-ray and their game consoles. TVs are both light and easy to put up without extra help. Easy to install. My boys don't use TV for TV purposes but as entertainment, but if they did the installation would be fast and easy. Highly recommended. As the TV is 19inch what is also good about it that it does not take up an entire room.

The major problem I had with this television is that it does NOT have freeview, I checked the item on the monitor in the argos store in Strabane and it states that it is a freeview television but it definitely is not. To make it worse, when i took it back to the store and told the sales assistant that the television didnt have freeview, she was very dismissive of me and said it was impossible, she said all televisions were freeview, she was wrong and i got a different tv instead.

Serves requirements
Well priced TV suitable for spare room, kitchen etc. Picture quality reasonable, sound quality tinny so requires additional sound bar if one is a perfectionist. For a spare TV it may well be thought that picture and sound are more than adequate. The price is excellent. We connected via a Scart cable to our old satellite box and that has worked extremely well and was a doddle to set up. More than happy with the TV but may look into a cheap easy to set up sound bar possibly.

Ok for a portable, but it sounds terrible
I bought this as the only television that I could find that was short enough to go on top of my wardrobes. I needn't have bothered. The picture is ok if you're watching at the same level as the screen, but doesn't work if you're looking up at the screen. Sound is very, very, tinny, with no bass. Ok as a second set, but only if you don't mind cannon sounding like pea-shooters! Connectivity is ok, and it'll record onto a USB stick, so might be ok if that's all you're looking for.

Restricted Viewing angle
Hung this small tv on Wall at bottom of bed,, You will need a tilting bracket as unless viewed head on, you will not get a decent picture as colour and contrast distorts,, Sound is a bit tinny,,but solved this using the alba 30watt small soundbar,, If you spend a bit more you will get a better tv, but ok for price as extra tv. Once all adjustments have been made you get a decent enough picture, There is no digital audio connection But does have coaxial or headphone out sockets

Great TV for the money. Easy to set up. Picture quality is not too good when viewed from the sides (it goes black), but this was purchased for the kitchen, so not too much of a problem and mainly is quite good. However, the sound is not that good. I can only compare this to the sound from early transistor radios. Quite "tinny". Some of the preferences for settings found on larger TVs is not there. A slider for colour for example. But overall for our use, it is satisfactory.

OK except for wall mounting.
Quality for picture and sound seem OK so far. Easy to set up and tune to channels BUT how hard would it have been to include the 4 screws needed to fix it to a wall bracket? Instead in the instructions it says ‘ fit the 4 screws - not supplied ‘! so you then have to go to a DIY store and try to find 4 x size 4 ten millimetre screws, which in B and Q could mean a pack of about 10 for over a fiver. Fortunately I got some from a hardware store for 40 p , but what a faff!!

Nice tv but......
This tv looked great. And when first trying it I was very impressed with the picture using a digital aerial. However, when using it in my caravan it became apparent that the viewing angle is horrendous. In light scenes it's ok but as soon as anything gets remotely dark on screen you can't see the picture unless you are pretty much right on front of the tv, at the perfect viewing angle. But for anyone outside of this it awful. Wish I'd paid a bit more to get something else.

Very poor quality.
We have bought several of these tv's and we have had 3 where the socket in which the aerial goes into has completely sheered off from the inside of the tv. Asked both your customer services AND alba support team for refund or replacement and because we have installed into lodges, we have no come back. Have reported to trading standards and awaiting advise. This has nothing to do with where these tv's have been installed and everything to do with exceptionally bad quality.
