Perfect size, excellent image quality, super fast AF
Yes, it's a slow 35 but it's an excellent lens. Image quality is superb. AF is super fast and accurate. It weights next to nothing and makes the A7 series body the compact and light mirrorless system it was designed to be. Had the new 35mm 1.8 and Sigma 35mm 1.4 and dumped both for this.

Awesome
Perfect lens for travel and environment portraits Travelled with the lens through Asia. Had it as my go to lens 90% of the time. I love the look (just kept it on f2.8 the whole time for portraits). So compact and light!

Great Walk Around Lens!
The 35mm is great for light weight vacation lens or walk around town. Very sharp with fast focus on my new Sony A9. Shot interiors and scenery on recent trip. Will probably stay on my camera most of the time.

Happily Impressed!
Im a photographer with a need for fast lenses that do well in low light. I use to be a Canon shooter before I made the switch to my a7iii, and while I loved the Sony 50mm, I always loved the look a 35 gets. Its quick, isnt noisy, and suuuuuper sharp! Im wildly impressed and actually use it more than my 50 now.

Small light and great
I bought this as the first lens of my Sony system after switching from canon, which was my AF solution when my hassalblad / phase setup was too slow for a shoot. Basically my setup before was shoot everything with a hasselblad with iq260 and then if it was really fast focus or needed weatherproofing or light weight Id bring a canon with a 24-70. I got the Sony a7riii and this 35mm f2.8 to have in the kit when I needed it, and Ive basically put... Show More

Awesome
Yes this lens is pricey. I own 3 GM lenses and there is no substitute for those lenses, but this lens was purchased for the size and the convenience of being able to walk around the city without all that weight. IQ is above avg. build quality is also. This lens on the A7R3 what A awesome kit.

Great "walking around lens"
This is the perfect lens for walking around town taking pictures of whatever comes up. It is super sharp so if you have to take a picture of that lighthouse far away, you can crop it. Super light.

Sharp and light
This is a really sweet lens. I like how the hood adds some protection to the front element. I'm not sure about how weatherproof this lens is but it's probably more weatherproof than the sony bodies which isn't much.

Makes A7 series tiny
If you want to make your A7 series a small point-and-shoot, this is pretty much your only option. Very sharp, great colors, nothing to complain about. I have the 24-105 and other lenses for times that I want to be a photographer. Sometimes I just want better better pictures and not have to be the guy carrying the big camera. f/2.8 is plenty for a modern sensor in low light, and DOF works for me.

Amazing quality and quick focus!
This lens the first lens i wanted to purchase with A7 as it's super light weight with exceptional picture quality . it came in even smaller than i expected and super easy to use. The auto focus is blazing fast. highly recommend for any A7 user.

Looks dinky but stellar performance....
I'm very happy with the lens. I needed a street lens and this one is perfect. Autofocus is lightening fast on the A7R3 and nice and sharp. It's very small, has a good feel and does a great job. The lens hood is weird, but it works fine as well and adds very little to the length of the lens. If you want a good 35 for your Sony E-mount, this is the ticket....

Great little Lens for the Sony a73
Still testing but very happy with the results. Wish it was 1.4 but then its tiny and weights nothing

Great properly sized lens for a mirrorless system.
Basically I got this lens to keep on this camera body unless I have some specific shoot I'm going for. It is a great 35mm lens and goes well with the mirrorless body size to create a small package for travel.

Wonderful piece of glass.
I went with the 2.8 over the 1.4 for two reasons - I am rarely at below f/4 on the 35mm and the weight. I added the Sony to my lineup to reduce the weight in my bag that the Nikon had and for my uses this lens is tops. I am mostly a wedding / editorial photographer and this lens is quick to focus and the sharpest 35 I have ever owned. It is a joy to use and a joy to carry!

Great all around travel lens.
Totally satisfied with this lens! Easy to carry and works very well for my overseas travel. Lens is sharp and never fails to immediately focus. I have paired it with Sonys 50 mm f1.8 for a little more distance. This is also a superb lens. Any person who wants easy travel but can not tolerate loss of quality should appreciate these two Sony lens.

Is the whole lineup over-hyped?
After buying this strange lens, I started to wonder if the entire Sony line was overhyped. Bought this lens to get a light, low profile EDC experience with a native lens using my Sony A7r III. By design, this lens hunts. Meaning, the focus mechanism is designed to go through its entire range before finding focus. Every time. That means a tiny delay in getting your street shot. It has vignetting galore (fixed in post, ok) and- at $700+ doesn't inc... Show More

Great Lens, Polarizer doesnt fit with the hood.
So far Im enjoying the lens but due to the unique design of the Lens hood and cap it cant be used with the included polarizing filter. Supposedly a thinner design filter would work but I havent tested it yet.

A great little lens
This lens is super sharp and very light weight. It is an amazing lens for the Sony system. The price is a little steep but the image quality is there.

Wonderfully Surprised
I expected this lens to be good (Zeiss, after all), but in the tests I've run so far, it is nothing short of wonderful. I have the 90mm f/2.8 Zeiss macro for full-frame. It seriously impresses. This 35mm. can hold it's own compared to the 90mm. Resolution is like that of a satellite surveillance optic. Focus is fast, accurate, quiet. Doesn't hurt that I'm using it with a Sony sensor. It makes the A7RII feel like a little point & shoot to handle, but the results are top notch full frame!

Impressive!
Really impressed with this lens. The image quality, the price, but most of all, the size. The compact size pairs perfectly with my mirrorless setup.

Light and powerful
This beast is just what I wanted for my newly acquired Sony A7R3. I have been tired of carrying very heavy Canon 5D3 with super heavy lenses so impractical for my lean 135 lb, 5'4" built. I can roam Manhattan with super light camera body and this lens compared with the bulky canon with 16-35 mm F4L. With the 42.2 MP powerhouse and the added 5.5 image stabilizer built in on the camera, I expect this to be my walkabout gadget for a long while.

Caution: Sharpness may cut you
This beast of a lens is so sharp at f2.8 that sometimes I hurt the feelings of my friends using their 24-70 f2.8. This is a great walkaround lens due to the size and weight.
